In the context that physical/medical/emotional aspects of a body have been unalterably modified without the body's "owner" participating in and controlling the decision.
If circumcision is reversible, I've never heard it being done; but I'd guess it's at least partially similiar to some of the procedures performed in gender-changing surgery. And I'm skeptical this process ends with precisely the same success, as if the body had been created with the revised gender.
Given the hugely excessive risks of Breast Cancer, many gals who have that familial history are opting for masectomies, as an effort to avoid the disease. So should the medical profession begin promoting the concept of "Post-Birth Double Masectomies" ?????
This Respondent is at least momentarily passing on making any assertions about "pros & cons" of circumcisions.
But those who choose it on religious grounds ought weigh the merits of scheduling the procedure when the male reaches the age of being able to choose whether he accepts that religion and all its precepts, and pursues the qualification process to be formally "initiated".
Thus the larger issue is this: Is it CHILD ABUSE to "brain-wash" a child with the teachings of one or both the parents' religious beliefs ??
