If you have some extra time on your hands and you want to make a little bit of spending money, here are a few things that you can possibly do. You will not get rich by doing these things. However, a little bit of extra money can help you pay down some debt, pay a few bills or even take a vacation that you wouldn't normally go on because you didn't have the extra cash to go away. Here are a few ideas on how you can make some extra spending money in your spare time.


If you have any items that are in good condition in your house that you no longer use, such as clothing, household items, baseball cards and even gift cards, you can sell these items on and make a little extra cash. You could either put your items up for auctioning or sell them for a set price. If you would rather not ship your items, then you may want to set up a yard sale and sell your unused items in person.


Do you like animals? If so, you may want to place an ad in a local newspaper or online to become a pet sitter. Some people may work long hours or go away on a vacation and may need someone to care for their pets while they are gone. You may be able to pet sit and take of care of different types of animals, such as dogs, cats or even hamsters. Do you have child care experience? You could pick up some extra cash by becoming a part-time babysitter or nanny. There are babysitting service agencies out there for those who are looking to find a parent whose child/children need babysitting. You could also place an ad online or in a local newspaper stating that you can give guitar lessons or whatever instrument it is that you play for a certain amount of money per lesson.


Tutoring can be a good way for someone who is very knowledgeable about school subjects to make a little extra spending cash. Tutoring does not take much of your time and you could place an ad for your services online or in a newspaper. You could also call a school and ask if they are interested in any tutoring services that you could provide. Check the help wanted ads of your local newspaper because some parents are looking for tutors to help their children with schoolwork.


There are companies that will pay you for your opinion online by completing surveys for them. You will get the opportunity to learn about new products and you may even have a chance to test the product at home. Sign up for survey sites for free, do not pay any money to join a survey site. In order to take surveys for cash, you must go to the survey company website and click on a link to join the panel and register.
