5 Ways You Can Make Money From Home Right Now

Updated on February 4, 2017

It happens to all of us; we fall on some hard times and need to make some money quick. Not everyone has a savings account to fall back on and most people are already too overworked to take on a second job. Thanks to the invention of the internet as well as smartphones it is easier than ever to make a quick buck from home. These are 5 completely legitimate ways to make money from home right now.

Amazon Mechanical Turk AKA Mturk

Surveys are a great starting point to make money at home. They problem is that not all survey sites are reliable and there are other problems like payment minimums and weeks or even months to have your earnings recorded. Mturk doesn't have any of those problems. For one, it is run by Amazon, one of the biggest companies in the world. Most of the payments are made within 24 hours of the surveys you take and there is no minimum payment requirement. Mturk also offers more than just surveys which gives you even more opportunities to make money.

Sell Your Old Stuff

Reselling is big business and there are a ton of sites that allow you to do quick and safe transactions. Of course, the most notable would probably be eBay, but you have to deal with setting prices, choosing shipping, and hoping that your stuff sells at a reasonable price. The good news is that there are other options available like Decluttr.com and Bonavendi.com that buy your old books, movies, music, and games for a guaranteed price. Not only can you make a quick buck from selling your unwanted stuff but you also get to clear some shelf space at the same time.

Write

If you are good at writing and have a wide knowledge base there are a few different places where you can start. Some people will tell you to start your own blog, which may be good for money in the long run, but takes a lot of work and probably won't net you the money you need right now. If you are looking for quick cash you can check out sites like Textbroker.com which is where I got my start. If you are more confident about your writing skills I would start with Blogmutt.com which has a wide variety of articles and the best pay scale for this type of work.

Pet Sitting

Do you love pets and have the time and energy to care for them? Put out an ad on Craigslist that you are available to pet sit. There is always someone looking for a qualified person to watch their pooch and this can be some good money. You may want to collect some references before putting up an ad because people aren't going to just leave their pets with anyone. The good news is you could start earning money right away and in most cases, pet owners are going to pay you cash up front.

Turn to Your Phone

Smartphones are a wonderful invention that has literally changed the way we live our lives. There is an app for everything, including making money. Instead of singling out an app (because there are so many) I would suggest doing a search for "money making app", "job app", or "apps for money." I have personally used almost every money making app on the iPhone at one time or another and all of them are legitimate though some take longer to pay out than others. The nice thing is that there are so many different ways to make money that you will most likely find one that you enjoy using and payments usually come through Amazon gift card or PayPal deposit almost instantly.

Another way to make money from home is not by making money at all, but by saving it. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "a penny saved is a penny earned."
