50 Ways How To / Earn /Make Money When You Have None to Invest

What to Do When You Need Money

Recently, I witnessed a money making scheme that made me wonder how a person could be so desperate for money. I arrived at Wal-mart in and as I turned into the parking lot, an attractive young couple in their mid twenties stood outside of their gorgeous Lincoln Navigator. They were exchanging their expensive shoes for some dirty hiking boots. They then helped each other load very heavy, large mountain back packs onto each others backs and started walking towards the highway. I remember thinking that Walmart was an odd location to begin a hiking excursion, seeing that the mountains are 30 miles away. I continued with my shopping and didn't think about it anymore. As I was leaving, I pulled out of the Wal-mart parking lot and suddenly realized what this couple was doing. At the entrance of this strip mall, the young couple stood holding a sign that said, "Homeless! Please Help!" Drivers were pulling aside to offer them cash and change. Obviously, they did not see what I saw or they would know they were being scammed. Most of us would not resort to such measures to make money. For these scammers and for those in real immediate need for money, here are 50 ways to make money in a hurry, legally.

50 Ways to Earn Money With No Investment

50. Join Hubpages! You can earn money by joining writing sites such as Hubpages, Squidoo, and Redgage. You earn money for clicks as well as additional funds through Google Ad Sense and Amazon affiliations.

49. In a pinch, you can pawn your valuables with the option of “buying” them back at a later date. Pawn shops take things such as instruments, jewelry, guns, and artwork.

48. The cost of getting a car washed, waxed, and detailed is now as much as $50.00 in some cities. Offer to detail cars for friends and family at a discount.

47. Sell your used books on Amazon. You can list anything from text books to cook books.

46. Turn your car into a traveling billboard. Some companies will pay $500 for private car owners to advertise their business on their vehicles.

45. Check Craig list’s “Gigs” section where potential employers seek many types of unusual (and beware- unconventional) services.

44. Large money can be made quickly by hauling scrap metal to junk yards. Think beyond collecting soda cans. With some scrap yards paying $1.50 per pound, money can be made by cashing in on car parts, lawn mowers, and junk cars. Take advantage of litterbugs in your neighborhood.

43. Resell your children’s unused toys, clothing, books, and furniture. Many stores like Once Upon a Child will pay cash upfront for clean, gently used items.

42. Build your very own informational website. If there is a topic that you can speak on with authority, create a site with a minimum of five articles on the subject and publish it. You can apply for a Google Ad Sense account and make a fee every time some clicks a Google Ad.

41. Research money making opportunities by completing surveys online. Many companies pay decent wages to those who give their valuable input.

40. If you have any administrative or real estate skills, you can access foreclosures at your local courthouse, compile an attractive list, and start a paid list of real estate subscribers. Foreclosures are public information and many real estate companies do not have the time to research these listings.

39. Turn in your gold and silver jewelry and coins for instant cash.

38. Sell items on EBay. As a seller, you have the option of selling your items at a specified price as an auction or a buy it now price. Some in home items that sell well are designer baby clothes and movie collections.

37. If you have computer skills, you can assemble digital art collages from non copy written photos or from your own artistic creations. Many crafters search for very specific art collages for craft and jewelry making. Sheets can be sold from $3.99 to $5.99 on private web pages, EBay, and Etsy.

36. In this difficult economy, those selling goods offer great incentives to entice potential buyers to at least consider their goods and services. You can cash in on incentive awards for viewing time share real estate or make $100 cash for just test driving a car at your local dealership. Even if you can’t afford these purchases, the incentives may be worth your time.

35. One of the fastest ways to make cash is to have a yard sale. Clean out attics, storage, closets. You will be amazed at the money you can make from things taking up space in your home.

34. Many banks and credit unions offer incentives in “refer a friend” promotional. If you get a friend to open an account at your bank, many times you will both receive a cash incentive.

33. Have a camera? You can take decent photos of ANYTHING and sell them on sites such as Shutter Stock or I Stock. Web page builders often need photos of things as mundane as door knobs and rocks.

32. Make videos and upload them to You Tube. Registered members who sign up for a paid account can make money on their videos.

31. If you live in an area abundant in botanical treasures, great money can be made selling pressed flowers on EBay and Etsy. Many crafters use dried and pressed flowers in crafts. Often suppliers are limited to flowers that grow in their area. Flower pressers can be bought at a craft store for less than $10.

30. We can all spare some bodily fluids for cash. Consider donating plasma for about $30 per donation. Many sperm banks will pay for donations after a thorough screening.

29. If you have writing skills but don’t want to create original materials on a daily basis, writing sites like Textbroker and Clickworker will test your skills and pay you to write articles on subjects you choose. These sites do not limit the amount of contributions you make and you can be paid weekly for your work.

28. Consider signing up for Freebie Trading and Penny Trading online. Investing your time can result in great payments.

27. Learn a skill such as palm reading, tarot cards, or astrology and start a webpage or EBay store offering your services.

26. Become an Avon representative. Avon is affordable, has a great reputation and sells itself.

24. Sign up to be a Mystery Shopper and evaluate products and services for employers.

23. If you can offer any service to another person, advertise this for free on Craigslist. Have a truck? Write an advertisement that you can haul items for a fee.

22. Do you have a unique or marketable skill? Consider publishing a how to website or a free e-book for others to buy.

21. Get paid to type at home through sites like Bukisa.com.

20. Anyone can make money as an employee at Amazon's Mechanical Turk. Most jobs pay between $.05 to $.50 and involve simple tasks such as anwering questions and completing survey's. There are no tests involved, and contributors can get promoted for consistent good work.

19. Use Facebook and the local community groups to sell your unwanted items.

18. If you have spare time and need money, advertise a grocery pick up service for people in your community on Craigslist. You would be surprised how many shut ins, elderly people, and overwhelmed people in your neighborhood would utilize this service.

17. Have a talent for crafts and handiwork? Sell your items online on EBay and Etsy or start your own webpage.

16. If you have made recent purchases and need immediate cash, return items to the store for a refund.

15. Have administrative skills? Sign up for online assignments for payment on sites like O'desk.com.

14. Take advantage of free samples. They are available everywhere. They may not be cash but could come in handy, such as cosmetics for a job interview.

13. Private detectives are expensive. Advertise your services to follow someone for a private party. If you are really bold, you can become a sex decoy to test a mate’s loyalty. You will need to have a working knowledge of the laws involved. For example, it is illegal to peak into people’s windows.

12. Sign up for Cha-Cha and make money answering questions on the internet.

11. Make money by finding great items at Thrift Stores and Goodwill and reselling them on EBay. Items must be in excellent condition and modern.

10. Have a camera? Become a freelance photographer. Create business cards and advertise your services to those who need your services. Real estate companies and insurance agents use photographers on a daily basis.

9. If you live in a coastal area, you have access to a lucrative way to make money. Collect unbroken seashells and beach treasures. Wash them and sell them to crafters on sites like EBay and Etsy.

8. If you have yard equipment, advertise your services for free on sites like Craigslist. Normally people will not by an industrial mower or brush hog mower for a one time project. These can be rented, but many people would not be comfortable using them.

7. If you need cash in a hurry, consider selling your upscale clothing to a consignment shop or store like the Style Exchange which pays you cash upfront for your clothing and accessories in excellent condition.

6. If you have unused or broken electronic equipment laying around, consider cashing in by selling them to an Electronic Scrap Yard. Many places will pay $2.00 per pound of electronics.

5. Grow your own vegetables and flowers to either sell or enjoy yourself.

4. If you have a special talent- give lessons. If you are a musician, give music lessons. If you have a craft talent, teach a class at your local craft store. If you do calligraphy, teach others or offer to do wedding invitations.

3. Baby sit, pet sit, or be a dog walker.

2. If you are a stay at home mother, run a free ad on a site like Craigslist to be a mother’s helper. Most of the time you can do the required tasks with your own child tagging along.

1. Do you have extra space? Consider renting it out. You can rent out open fields to farmers for crop rotation, grazing for livestock. If you have an extra room, turn it into an apartment (with careful screening). Have an unused stable? Board horses. Many consumers search for alternatives to public storage, especially for cars.

Where to being with such a wide array of useful advice? I also wanted to mention Ezine and Squidoo as a source of writing income. The latter has far more affiliates than HubPages. Also, when you become a mystery shopper at a legitimate organization, you don't need to pay money to join. Voting this Up and Useful.

Tammy - around here it is very common to see people standing by the roadside with signs that say "Will work for food" so of course people give them money.

A local news station took them up on their offer to work for food and guess what? I don't think even one of them took the job they were offered. They followed some people and they weren't that poor at all! So yeah - I never give money to those people. I understand that they need help maybe but if they really do there are agencies that will help. They need to go through the proper channels - I mean - I ain't got no fancy automobile! UP / everything!

That is a shame. I don't give money to them anymore unless they have a small child. I was really shocked when I saw these people do this, considering they had a new luxury vehicle. They were in fine condition to work or to get a second job. Thanks so much for sharing this expose. It is always good to see you.

With this loooooonnnnngg list and many more out there, why should anyone steal, rob, or do other dishonest things to make money? This needs to be posted on billboards and advertised on radio and prime-time TV. :D

When I was a young mother, my aunt and I sold our children's clothes and other baby things that they had outgrown. Many were like new. In less than an hour, I had made $40.00. Many people throw away good clothing that many others would love to have. A friend asked X number of people to give their throw-aways to him whenever they planned to toss them. He now has a business selling nice used things. My aunt and uncle did the same. They rented a building after retirrrement and have been in business for about ten years.

I could tell many stories about how people I know made good money in small dealings. It is great to have enough confidence to know that you do not have to starve or be tempted to do dishonest things to make money.

Many of your tips would be great to share with high risk youngsters. They could keep someone out of trouble.

      Thanks for sharing. Voted positively.

      Levertis,

Thank you for that thoughtful comment. I have one daughter after having three brutes for boys, so it is fun for me to buy her nice clothes and things. I have had a TON of success reselling them. People on Ebay will pay more for the used clothing than I would pay for a new item. It is crazy! But, it does keep her in new clothes. You are right, we do need to be smarter about money. I appreciate your thoughtful comment.

OMG! You have given me some great ideas beyond what I am already doing. To make a long story short, or at least shorter...I'm going through a divorce from a 36 yr mentaly and physicaly abusive marriage in which I was never allowed to work. I've got tons of jobs apps out there, but in this economy especially, no one wants an old lady without skills. Will be definatley looking into the ideas, I'm not doing currently, you mentioned.

Would love to have a garage sale but my hands are tied until the divorce is final...grrr. so much stuff around here ;)

      I voted up and more!

Bless you for doing that. I can't imagine that after 36 years. I am so glad you are getting out of a bad situation. Going to a community college for some basic skills courses is great and a great way to meet some prospective employers and to get back out there. Best of luck to you. You could pawn and sell HIS things. :)

I think most of your ideas are pretty good. I had a business for a while to shop for people, but I'd run all over town for them, and not net enough to pay for gas.

I wrote a Hub (that won HOTD) about renting out your lawn and household items. I still do that, and it's good money.

I also rent out a room in my room that is profitable.

Great Hub. I voted it UP, etc.etc.

These are all excellent ideas. As for the people changing shoes and scamming others, I've seen this done. Not the changing part, but people walking around asking for money, then when I didn't give them any (for gas-supposedly had broken down) the DROVE away. I just wrote a couple of hubs on scams. Ridiculous. But I'm sharing this one.

Irc7815, I am nearing 40 and have found myself in the "too old to be an asset to any company club" so I can relate to that in some ways. :( If I were an employer, I would so hire as many older folks as I could. The baby boomers have the last of the generational work ethic, experience at work and in life, and have been through everything. I don't understand why more employers don't hire baby boomers, but I guess they don't want to pay for insurance and retirement. This also explains why businesses and customer service is a nightmare in this country. I appreciate you stopping by!

It is a pleasure to meet you SylvianeNuccio. This couple got out of a very nice car, put on old dirty clothes and backpacks, and walked up to the road showing passerby's signs that said they were homeless/ stranded. They were feeding off the sympathy of others who were stopping by to give them money because people really thought they were homeless. Judging by their car, they didn't seem to be stuck in the area or in financial need. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for reading and commenting!

I signed up for Mechanical Turk but didn't really understand it. Will have to go back and give it a try. Cha-cha sounds good too. The only problem I see about pawn shops is that-from what I see-is that they will raise the price of what you sell if you want to buy the item back. I saw this in Atlantic City. I went onto a pawn shop to see if I could find any deals. A guy was in there and had pawned something off-most likely had to pay a bookie or to gamble-then he was trying to buy the item back and the guy had tripled the item. This place was a rip-off

A few you might have missed for the baby boomers. Whatever your expertise there is a way to earn from it on the internet. I am wheelchair bound, sixty years old, and earn by creating brands and teaching those the brands are created for to market them.

My experience before I became wheelchair bound was marketing. Putting the brand together to market was always part of the process. This was all before the internet became part of the mix. It simply took some learning to get up to speed with internet brand building and internet marketing.

I also do consultations and help others or build [what you see is what you get] WYSIWYG websites. As a brand and business consultants my company also had done some debt collection. This only works though with companies who understand a change in brand reputation is the best way to collect.

Some really great ideas here, tammy - some of which I wasn't even familiar with, like the O'desk.com. I'm going to look into it. A few of them I've done before, like textbroker. Anyway, this is good and I bookmarked it for future reference.

There are some great ones in this list. I have done a few of these in order to generate a little extra cash from time to time. Everyone that is living paycheck to paycheck should keep there eyes open for solid opportunities to make a few extra dollars from time to time. I have several fiverrs, that take a few minutes to do and result in $4 for less than 5 minutes of time. Get creative and start making a few extra dollars doing something that you have a talent for.

Great info for making cash in your spare time. I have tried Mturk but it can be slow to accumulate the cash. Love the story about the Walmart couple. The best one I have seen yet is a guy getting into a three piece business suit on a train. I had just seen him panhandling in front of the station not 5 minutes before.
