A Helping Hand for Veterans in PA

Updated on September 14, 2015

Our Mission:

Our mission is to help restore wounded warriors to good physical, mental and emotional health.

Our Motto:

No warrior without help

Helping Pa Wounded Warriors once 2007 without paid staff, paying rent, hiring fundraising consultants or similar expenses that divert donor dollars.MissionWe also offer them and their families a day or a weekend away from the hospital; a day of recreation which they will enjoy. We offer them an opportunity to go hunting for deer or wild turkey or pheasant, or skiing, fishing or golfing.

We do not pay credit card bills, car payments or–except in the most unusual circumstance–provide direct payments to wounded warriors. We do help them with home repairs, utility payments, medical bills and equipment not covered under current government programs and educational programs to prepare for college under the GI Bill.Company OverviewPennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc. is a Pennsylvania Non-Profit Corporation that has 501(c)(3) charitable status from the Internal Revenue Service. We offer Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, their families, or Pennsylvania veterans with medical emergencies in their families financial assistance.

DescriptionPennsylvanians in uniform have served their nation in every conflict. Today hundreds of Pennsylvanians in every branch of the service have been injured defending their country in the past decade.

Whether they are recoving from their wounds at Walter Reed National Military Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, or with their families in the Commonwealth, we can offer them our support.

How They Blessed Me

We often see US military veterans in situations which make us feel sorry for them and garner the feeling that there is no help for them out there, I have learned that there are many great people and organizations willing and able to help, we are just not very well informed of them. I was blessed enough to have a social worker at the Philadelphia VA hospital who gave me the website for an organization in Pennsylvania which might help me with home repairs and things of that nature, the organization is PA Wounded Warriors.

I have had the personal pleasure of dealing with PA WOUNDED WARRIORS.When I contacted them, life had led me to move back in with my parents. My son and I had to consolidate ourselves from an almost 1000sqft apartment, to a small 12 by 12 room. As if that weren't uncomfortable enough, the floor was creaky, the carpet padding was non existent and everything could be heard in my dad's room. I felt like a pre-teen, with a curfew because my dad couldn't sleep if we were even just moving around. I explained my situation to a representative at the organization and, also the fact that I was not working and could do nothing to alleviate my situation.

I explained my situation to them and, that I hoped they could change and repair the flooring for me. At this time I found out that they don't DO the work themselves, but they pay for the work to be done. After doing some research and getting some different quotes, I found a contractor who had a reasonable price for the work, it took less than a week for all the paperwork to be completed, I faxed PA WOUNDED WARRIORS a copy of my DD 214, the quote sheet and a copy of my ID.

It was so easy and comfortable working with the PA Wounded Warriors organization. I definitely admire them for what they do and give them a five star review. Though the floor isn't soundproof, it is definitely less squeaky and we rarely disturb my dad, and the new carpet is so comfortable we have both, my son and I, at some point fallen asleep directly on it.
