Deals Worth Waiting For: National Coffee Day

Updated on September 23, 2014

National Coffee Day

National Coffee Day, or also International Coffee Day, is on the same day every year, September 29th. Celebrated in the United States, Australia, Canada, England, Ethiopia, Hungary, New Zealand, and other countries and territories, Coffee Day is a celebration of the bitter drink and the miracle bean that provides it. There are conflicting reports as to when and where National Coffee Day originated, but most importantly to those of you reading this article, is that September 29 has become a holiday of its own like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and even Labor Day Weekend. It is a day of many cups of coffee, tall, medium, large, extra large, and whatever size trenta is.

Celebrating Coffee

As you may have noticed if you've read some of my other articles, I am a coffee-holic. I'm a caffeine fiend that wakes up to the small of a cup brewing. I then work through the morning until I get my pre-lunch cup at either Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, or another local coffee shop. I typically grab an extra coffee to go for either that night, or have even been known to make a late evening stop when I need a seasonal sweet.

As National Coffee Day is approaching, I'd like to share my appreciation by thinking of my favorite times to get a cup of coffee:

  1. When I have writer's block, and I know that I'm lacking caffeine
  2. When I can barely open my eyes and only hot black coffee can wake me up
  3. When I'm eating something too sweet and I need something bitter to balance it out
  4. When I see someone else drinking a cup of coffee and I'm immediately jealous
  5. When I travel to a new town and find a university town with their own local coffee shop
  6. When I'm in Seattle, the modern day home of coffee
  7. When it's cold outside and it's snowing
  8. Or when it's hot outside and I get an iced coffee
  9. Or even when it's meh outside and the only thing that can make up for bad weather is good coffee
  10. On National Coffee Day when I'm sharing a cuppa with a friend

About Deals Worth Waiting For

One of the ideas that lead to the birth of DealsForALiving is that navigating deals and maximizing resources makes life easier and more joyful. It spans everything that I'm passionate about in food, technology, news and media consumption, the workday and my work, and in relationships. The more I can share these things, then the more I get to see and hear people benefiting from these deals, and these snippets of wisdom (that's how I see it).

Closest to my heart are national and international deals that are offered by big brands, because they are there for the taking by thousands, even millions, of people. What comes to mind are Labor Day sales on furniture, annual food events, Black Monday, Cyber Friday, and end of the year clearance sales.

I've written a few now so feel free to check out the others.

About DealForALiving

I believe that being frugal and making smart money choices is like any other exercise. As we continue to practice good habits in saving money where possible, finding deals for what we want, and having a good time at it, then we become better at dealing for a living.

I'm committed to sharing my experiences with getting the most out of using credit cards, saving and spending tips, and I might even add a slice of perspective without trying to be a psychoanalyst like some other personal finance folks out there.

Please let me know what you think and if you'd like to hear my take on a specific topic.

Most Sincerely,

DealForALiving

I agree that it´s important to save money and get a good deal. I enjoy coffee in moderation but my husband is a coffee lover! He will appreciate knowing where to find a good deal at his favorite coffee shops. I do think Dunkin´ Donuts offers a decent cup of coffee. Thank you for sharing!

I like my first cup, as it is rainforest coffee, grown as it should be. Maybe you could give Cerulean Warbler Conservation Coffee a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Well I thought I should get in on the free one, especially since this was the last day for them at McD's. They have been running a special of free coffee for two weeks and you didn't have to buy anything. Seems strange so we got a decaf ice tea :)

So glad you could get a free coffee! I ended up stopping by 2 Dunkin Donuts nearby for the new dark roast - tasty enough to pay for next time.

I don't drink coffee so I've never taken advantage of a coffee day special but your page should be helpful for those who can! Pinning your page onto my Pinterest board, Coffee Shop.

Very interesting hub DealForALiving. I love my cup of coffee and my favourite coffee shop here in Australia is Jamaica Blue. Don't know if they have any special deals on for International Coffee Day on 29th September though. I may have to reshare my hub "Coffee in the Morning" on that day. Thanks for sharing this.
