Do you know where your money goes to each month?
With the way the world is at the moment, people having less money to play with, wages not going up or being frozen and with almost everything seemingly forever going up it becoming hard to manage. Do you know what you spend your money on each and every month? Do you impulse buy, saying its ok I’ve have been good all month, I'm giving myself a treat. Do you spend too much and wonder where it's all gone, ending up towards end of the month living on pennies until next pay day comes around.
You'll be surprised
Some 15 months or so ago my car need repairing and I didn’t have the money to have it done at the time. It was only after sitting down with a pen and paper that I saw the true cost of running my car. Since then I gave up my car, I guess you don’t really know how much you are spending until it too late. After sitting down and discovering the true cost of running a car, I now sit down every so often to see where my spending is going. Keeping me in check with my money and what I’m spending it on.
Write it down, every last penny
From time to time I will carry a small note pad and write down every penny I spend and sometimes it is shocking. The odd thing here and the odd thing there, they soon mount up and you could get carried away before to long. Writing down seeing what and where you money is going is a good idea to keep you in check with your spending. Are you spending too much on travel, often public transport is cheaper if booked in advance. When going to the super market do you tend impulse buy and buy things you can do without.
Write it all down, every last penny and then you can review your spending you’ll be surprised. When writing it down, but honest with yourself as it will only be you who you are cheating on if you don’t. Cut back, cutting down, shopping around for cheaper prices around town, don’t always shop in the same place. Buy what you need and not what you may think you need. How much food do you throw away each week? When going food shopping write a list and stick to it or do online shopping, saves on the impulse buying. How many times a week do you eat out? Cooking can be fun and cheaper then restaurants. There are endless ways to save your hard earned cash making it go further and seeing you through to the next pay day without living on pennies.
