Don't you just love the internet. I save money, time, reduce my stress level and enjoy hours of free entertainment. I have a list of reasons I love the internet and all it has to offer. Topping that list would have to be the ability to pay bills on line, followed by the social network that keeps me up to date with family, friends, my groups and invitation's I receive for birthday parties and other social events. I am able to catch up on past episodes of my favorite shows, I buy movie tickets, have located old friends, can research any topic from babysitting advice to finding definitions. Shopping on line is the ultimate when looking for Birthday Presents, Wedding Gifts, Searching Baby Shower registries, Bridal registries, Christmas Shopping and the best has to be beating the Black Friday crowds, I shop on line and avoid the cut throat bargain hunters.

The ease of paying bills on line has elevates the cost of checkbooks, check registries, envelopes and stamps. Your able to designate how the bills are paid, either individually with each creditor or utility. There is also the option of adding each account to the bill pay section provided by your bank. You add the account, enter the account information and have the ability to pay payments anytime your choose. Quite a few creditors, utilities companies, phone, cable and internet sources prefer on line payments and have even changed to paperless billing, they send your bills via e-mail. This method saves trees and helps the environment. You also have the option of creating payment plans that automatically send specified monthly allotments based on the information you provide.

Local city, town and state governments have jumped on the bandwagon and offer the ability to pay property taxes, excise tax, water bills, sewer bills, renew your license, and pay car registrations all on line. Can you imagine avoiding those long lines at your state registry of motor vehicles.

The chore of grocery shopping is a thing of the past. Select grocery chains offer the ability to do your grocery shopping on line. With the click of a button you choose what you want, decide on a pick up time, arrange payment and check out. Arrive at the designated pick up area, give them your name and order number, the groceries are brought to you. Your car is loaded and off you go. Now, it gets even better in some areas there are grocery chains that even deliver your groceries. You don't even have to leave the house. You save on gas, avoid traffic, the crowded isles, long check out lines, loading the car, unloading, the multiple trips back and for from the car to your house. I once dreamed of stress free grocery shopping and now it actually exists.

Our children who would need rides to the library to research articles, newspapers, encyclopedias and take out books to research at home now have all that information at their fingertips. The amount of knowledge that they have available is amazing. They can no longer use the excuse they didn't have a ride to the library. Some classes use the internet as part of the class curriculum.

The amount we save on gas, the cost we save on stamps, the time we save by virtue of the internet adds up over the year. If you were to keep tracking I am willing to bet you saved yourself at least 2 or 3 fill ups at the gas stations and hours upon hours are saved when you pay bills on line, shop on line, when your children do their research on line, ordering groceries on line and paying state / local taxes on line.

Just like Toby Keith's red solo cup is his friend, the internet is ours!

Well done! I know I will never cease to be amazed by the internet. The thing that I love the most is that it gives us a voice that we didn't have before.

Exactly. That's one of things I love about hubpages. We can ask questions, give answers and voice our opinions and concerns. The internet is like having the world at our fingertips.

You know, another thing for me is the friends that one can make online through a place like Hubpages. It is even greater for those who can't get out. Through Hubpages, forums and game sites, like Pogo, (especially) older people can connect with others and feel connected with life. On Pogo, I have met many of people, both men and women, playing games like Texas Hold'em who are in their 80's. I love that!

The friends you can make, the friends you lost and found, the family and friends who live in another state, keeping in touch is easier now than it ever has been. Gotta love the internet!!
