Easy ways to make money and boost your income

Updated on November 11, 2011

Earn cash in your spare time

Money money money

They say money can't bring you happiness. This is of course true, everyone makes their own happiness. However, having money definitely gives you the opportunity to do more than you could without it. Wouldn't it be nice to have your monthly household bills covered and have excess money to spend on hobbies and loves? I think I just heard you shouting a firm YES to your computer screen. This is possible and if you read on I will tell you how.

It is simple to make money when you do something you enjoy. Many just get by in their day to day jobs because they merely have to. To provide for a family or keep bills up to date is a difficult thing and countless people force themselves to peel the covers away every morning and struggle on to a hard days work.

Not a single person doesn't dream of doing something they enjoy in life and getting paid for it. That is pretty much a dream come true and for many people it is possible. This requires determination, motivation and perseverance. However, that is a seperate subject. If you've had no luck in pursuing your dream career as of yet, there are ways to earn some money on the side so that you can continue to enjoy your hobbies in the knowledge that you have money to do so.

Working from home

Thousands of individuals are searching high and low for jobs that allow them to work in the comfort of their own home. Waking up, having breakfast and completing a job in your pyjamas is an exciting idea. With no boss and hours to suit you this is a fantastic way to earn money. Join SheToldMe here for an opportunity to showcase your work, earn 100% Google adsense revenue and boost traffic incredibly

But what are the options when working from home?

There are many choices available to those whom this idea appeals to. These include the following:

  • Writing online. This is increasingly popular and many websites allow you to do so (including HubPages!) Benefits of this include the chance to express your opinion, develop skills and learn.
  • Sell unwanted household products on sites like Ebay and Amazon.
  • Create your own website and become an affiliate marketer. This means promoting other companies products on your content site and receiving a percentage of the commission.
  • Typing and data entry
  • Completing online surveys for money

There are many other choices that can be found on search engines and your local paper. You will be surprised at things that can be done from home with little effort! Reaping the rewards is very satisfying.

However it is crucial to remember that working from home requires discipline. Ensure you can discipline yourself to set hours, concentrate and not go off track. Focus all of your energy into your task and you should be fine.

Arts, crafts and decluttering

The brilliant thing about this way of making money is that you have fun in doing so. Arts and crafts is an enjoyable way to put talents to good use and pass time. Not only this but things made from home such as clothing, handkerchiefs, jewellery boxes, jewellery, photoframes, etc, can make you plenty of money.

Sell these products in places like car boot sales or online stores. Even use your own website to sell your products, this could become a nifty little business! As time progresses you will find it easier to produce products in short periods of time and will notice an increase in your profits.

Buy materials in wholesale and get better profits from creating beautiful items with low price equipment. An alternative if you are not very handy is to declutter your wardrobe, drawers or attic and sell items in auctions or car boot sales. You never know how much you might get for an old vase or broach! Plus, you will have a tidy house with no mess!

Get paid to help others

It is always a delight to help other people. But did you know you could earn money from doing so? There are various options to consider, some will appeal to certain people more than others. However, there is something for everyone.

Ideas for helping others :

  • Dog walking - if you love the company of an animal then why not walk your neighbours dogs? You can earn a nice little wage and the exercise is great!
  • Laundry - many busy people do not have the time to do their own laundry on a regular basis. It is a great idea to help out and get paid for it.
  • Cleaning - the same goes for cleaning. People who work long hours, have their own business or other commitments need a cleaner to tend to their household needs. This is great exercise and a good little earner!
  • Tutoring - if you have the brains then this is the one for you. Being somebodies tutor gives you the chance to build a relationship and help someone succeed. Do it in your spare time and fit it around your schedule.

Do you have a talent?

Sharing your talent with the world is very rewarding. Getting paid for it is even better! Do not shy away, use it to the best of your ability and earn some money from it. Ideas of talents to implement into your spare time are listed below.

  • Singing and acting - join a theatre or get a part-time job such as commercial work
  • Voiceovers - getting paid for having a pleasant voice is a phenomenal thing. Reading a few lines can earn you quite a bit of money!
  • Baking and cooking - cakes and edible products are always appreciated. Sell them in a bakesale.
  • Beauty - do you know what is best for the skin, hair, nails, teeth? Share ideas with magazines or help people you know to get paid for it and feel great!
  • Make-up - many young women want to look great for a night out and require a helping hand. Be that person who helps as people are willing to pay lots for this.

These are just some ideas to grasp and take action upon! You never know, it could turn into a full-time job and you might finally get the dream career you wished to pursue in the beginning! Good luck and spend those pennies wisely!

Great article with useful information. As with anything we do I think perserverance, determination and patience is required. I think when someone doesn't apply that they realized at some level that course of action wasn't right for them.

Happy to write the first comment. You have given great ideas for people who are interested. But I think the most important idea in the whole article is that you need the discipline to set your own schedules and follow it. Another great hub. voted up and useful. Good luck.
