Need extra money? Have items to sell, but no time to have a yard sale? Bring on Facebook Rummage sale! This is a newer trend on Facebook that is taking over. They are all over the place and separated by type of items/locations. Making money through this option is quick and easy.

First create a Facebook account, you will need to to find the rummage sale. Start friending people you know and searching around for rummage sale groups in your area. (You will need to search out the sales in the Facebook search bar and be added to the groups.)

Once you have become a member of the rummage sale group you should read the rule document,(ask one of the moderators if you can not find it), otherwise you may find yourself posting things you shouldn't or some other type of violation and be removed from the group. After reviewing the rules clean out the attic, closets, garabe, basement, or wherever it is you store things you no longer need.

The best way to make money using Facebook Rummage sale is to TAKE PICTURES. Clean up around your spot that you are taking the picture, it shows the care you have for your possesions. If you have them sitting in dirt and clutter no one will want to purchase them from you.

Place a description of the item, location, (not the exact location, you should never give this out unless you know the person you are selling to. Meet in a public place.), and the price with your picture.

Make sure you are checking your messages so that you are able to keep in contact with the people that may want to purchase your items. (When clicking on messages there will be a link below labeled OTHER, you should check this also.)

You may be wondering what types of items sell well:

  • Baby items-clothing, cribs, blanket, bottles, ect.

  • Toys

  • Electronics- cell phones, TVs, laptops, ect.

  • Cars

  • Home D├ęcor

I have made money in as little as an hour just posting items that we no longer need and can be useful to someone else.

The rummage sale is also fun for browsing and buying things that you need or may want. It is like going to a bunch of yardsales while sitting on your couch!

Thank you, dejacobsen99. It is much easier, cheaper, and more effective than the newspaper! Its even better than Craigslist in my opinion!

Good, detailed advice. More effective than an ad in the newspaper!

It is totally free! You just need to make sure you read the rules (there are certain items depending on the group that you can or can not list). If you do not follow the rules you can be kicked out.

This is new to me. Sounds like it's better than jumping through eBay's hoops and having to share a lot of what little profit there might be whether you sell anything or not. You didn't mention a charge for listing your items. Is it free to belong to these groups and list items for sale?

Thank you very much for reading! I use it often and directly after writing the Hub I made another sale, making another $40.00 on things I no longer use! That's $60.00 in a matter of 3 hours!

This is really good. I never knew this existed. Very informative and I like the way you have outlined the need to ensure you are abiding by the rules to alert people to the down side if not.

      Thanks for sharing
