Finding Online Coupons - Saving Money At The Grocery Store

Updated on February 17, 2010

Finding coupons for products you use is getting easier every day. It used to be that a person's only source of coupons was the Sunday paper. Things have changed and there is now a lot of competition in the coupon business.  The Sunday paper has also gotten so expensive, that it isn't worth it for me most weeks to buy extras.  So I look for other options.  Finding coupons online can be pretty easy actually. Here are some of the things I do.

After I go through the sales fliers I will look for coupons to match the sales. Sometimes I have great ones already, sometimes I need coupons. There are many items at the store that I will not buy unless I have a coupon, so the search is then on to find one. One of my favorite sites is They have a great selection and typically their coupons are for a higher amount than some other sites out there. A $1.00 off of one coupon is always better than a $1.00 off of 2 or 3. This site will let you print two coupons per printer.

A site similar to is They don't have as many coupons available, but it is a different selection than the first site I mentioned. The coupons aren't as good at this site, however if you need an item and don't already have a coupon, then finding one here is better than purchasing the item without a coupon. Again the print limit is 2 per printer.

If I am looking for a coupon for a specific item, I will frequently check the item's website. When I wanted to purchase some Robitussin cough medicine recently I went onto the Robitussin website to see what kind of offers they had. I came away with $2.00 off of one item coupons. It was very fast and easy to print these and I had no trouble using them at the drug store. I did the same thing when Goldfish were on sale recently. A coupon always makes a sale better. I went to the Pepperidge Farms website and was able to print off $1.00 off of 2 coupons.

If you are a big time coupon user and looking for more coupons in bulk there are sites available for you as well! At Coupons & Things by Dede you can purchase entire inserts from the Sunday paper. So if a particular insert had a lot of great coupons that you will use, this could be a great way to take advantage of sales at the grocery store. If you know an item would be free with coupons that came out of the Sunday paper it could be worth it to purchase the inserts. Typically when doing this people purchase in large quantities. I have heard that the shipping is fast, but when I looked into it, it was expensive as well. I believe she ships Priority Mail. This really adds to the cost of the coupons. You don't want to spend a lot of money purchasing coupons or it will negate any savings you get from using the coupons.

I like the Coupon Master better, as you can purchase individual coupons in whatever quantity you want. For example, there is a coupon available for $1.00 off of 4 cans of Progresso soup. Each coupon sells for $.07. I believe that this site ships coupons first class for the cost of a stamp + $.50. This is much cheaper than Priority Mail shipping.

Personally I like to purchase coupons off of Ebay. The prices and shipping are very reasonable. I have always received my coupons very quickly. I always check a seller's feedback and make sure that they are trustworthy sellers. I pay using a Paypal balance, which means the seller should ship the coupons immediately.

When finding coupons online the first thing to do is look for free sources of coupons. If a coupon is a very good one and you can pair it with a great sale - resulting in free products - it could be a good idea to purchase coupons for those items in bulk. I only purchase coupons that I know I will be using immediately. Don't forget to factor in the cost of the coupons to determine if you will really save money.

Using coupons has saved me so much money at the grocery store. Now that I can find coupons online and print them off at home as I need them, I am able to save even more money. Finding them is getting easier all the time too! So before you pay retail - try some of these sites and save money!

Thank you for the detailing these different sources for free coupons.

I think that printable coupons sites also provide some freebies and coupons worth checking out. One example that I found is:

When shopping online, it can be such a lifesaver to use online coupons. Online coupons can help you get great deals at many of your favorite "big box" stores. Many smaller stores also offer special online coupon deals.

Nice work, and very well written. Although I knew about all of these sources, I didn't know that some of the stores won't take online coupons. I have never had a problem here in Phoenix. Will definitely read more of your hubs!! Thanks for adding the great info.

I love to use coupons, shop at double coupon stores, look for sales and clearance items and double up, and search for printables. But so many stores are snotty and make sooooooooo many mistakes, I wish these companies would just lower the price, save ink, paper, and TREES, and shove their coupons! ! !

hillbilly gardener, you are right, not all stores take them. There is one grocery store near me that does and one that doesn't. The Walmart by me does accept them though. Policy varies greatly, so everyone should check into it.

My wife is a member of at least two cupon clubs and has learned the hard way that many of the big box stores such as Wal-Mart have a written policy of not accepting "on-line" cupons. Just thought you would want to know.
