Save Money While You Travel and Vacation with Groupon

Updated on February 7, 2013

So….if you’re like me, you’re always looking to save money while traveling or on vacation.  Enter Groupon. This clever little coupon service offers a multitude of specials that quite often include meals from some well-known (and other lesser known) establishments right in your hometown, as well as hot air balloon rides, massages, manicures, pedicures, oil changes, shows, movie theatre tickets, bowling alleys discounts…ok…ok…you get the picture. You probably already get those nifty little “Today’s Deal” emails showing what specials are available where you live. Interested in signing up?

But….aren’t you planning a vacation to Orlando? Taking the kids to Washington, D.C.? Visiting the grandparents in Denver? Then why not get your Groupon in those cities, hmmmm? That’s right, it’s everywhere, and if you are traveling, don’t forget to check out the cities where you are going, because Groupon can be a traveler and vacationer’s best friend. After all, eating out, although lots of fun, can be pretty expensive, especially when you have to do it for every meal.

To find the other GROUPON specials you can’t live without, simply use the menu at the top of the page to open cities you may be visiting in the future. You just might find that perfect pizza parlour to take the kids in D.C., or a fabulous spa to visit at bargain basement pricing (especially if you are leaving the kids behind).

Just in case you are not familiar with this fabulous little product, here is an example how it works: Groupon offers on its website to sell $20 worth of grub from Tall Clover’s Irish Pub to you for $7. After much contemplation, you decide that’s a pretty good deal, pay Groupon online, print out your Groupon Coupon, and tuck it into your wallet (after all, its just like a $20 bill to you now) to be used when you visit Tall Clover’s Irish Pub. Simple, right?

Don’t forget to check the expiration dates of the Groupon in which you are interested (yes, they do need to be used within a certain time). One more thing, even if you are not planning a trip to a certain city, check anyway. Sometimes Groupon offers specials that are for something that you order online, and those can be used anywhere! S C O R E!!! Don’t forget to check it out!!
