How a Crock Pot Saves You Money

Updated on July 3, 2019

We all like ideas that save us time and money. Both are in short supply in most people's lives. When it comes to feeding our family, we can really find these tight. Get up early and get children to school and get to work. Even if you don't have children, you still have to get up and out the door by a certain time. Then when you get home, you have errands to run and dinner to get ready. What if you don't have time to get the oven hot and the food prepared? You eat out. That costs money. If you had a crock pot, you could save yourself a lot of money.

Saving time can save you money. Saving your emotional health saves you money. Using less saves you money. Let's explore how a crock pot can sweep in and save the day.

No Excuse for Takeout

Takeout is a great excuse when you get home from work and don't have time to cook. Trust me. I've been there. You think you can cook that chicken when you get in, but things didn't go exactly as planned. The day at work was horrible. The normal twenty-five minute commute home lasted nearly twice that due to two accidents. Then the dog made a mess. You haven't even thought of dinner until a kid asks when is supper ready. It will take at least an hour to have it ready and that doesn't include all the prep time and the clean up. Your exhaustion just increased tenfold. Who really wants to cook now? No one sane.

That is when takeout is the answer, but you could have answered your child's question that morning if you used a crock pot. The cooking can be done while you are at work and running errands. There is no excuse then for takeout.

Time Saving

Using a crock pot saves you so much time as well. You don't have to spend the entire evening preparing food and then cleaning up from all the cooking. A crook pot allows you to put all the food in one container that cooks while you work.

Nothing irritates a hungry family than having to wait a few hours after a long day to eat. They might end up snacking. Then the meal is barely eaten. All are frustrated. That is when pizza is ordered in. Save time and money by using the crock pot. When time is constricted, we'll spend money to get out of the situation. The crock pot helps us to avoid spending money because we strapped ourselves with time.

Less Energy Used

Getting an entire stove warmed up to cook a roast costs quite a bit of money. Lots of energy is needed when the oven is used. That doesn't include when the stove top is used. Think of how much the electricity bill runs up as you cook.

With a crock pot, you aren't heating an entire stove or an entire room. The cooking is contained into a small place and less energy is used. You save money by using a crock pot.

Less Cleaning

When you use a crock pot, you only have to clean the one container. There is no pot for the roast and separate pots for the potatoes and carrots. That means less water needed to clean up. Less dish soap needed. Less everything is used.

Think of something else with this - the mental impact. Do you really want to do dishes when there are piles of pots and pans that need to be scrubbed? Nope, none of us do.

Use That Crock Pot

Get the crock pot out. Put the thawed roast or whole chicken in it. The thicker the meat, the longer it will need to cook. Look at the instruction book for your crock pot for the items you are cooking.

Add vegetables, typically root vegetables like potatoes and carrots. You can also consider onions, brussell sprouts, mushrooms, green beans, and more. Experiment.

Seasoning is then needed. Use onion soup mix to a rich meal. Basic salt and pepper can also be used. Poultry seasoning or any other for the meat you are using can add delicious flavor. Again, experiment.
