Getting started on Ebay is easy.

Setting up a Ebay account is easy, my goal in this hub is to teach anyone how to set up a Ebay account.

Go to ebay and click the register button.

Here you will be asked basic information, fill out the forms and get ready to choose a username,it can be an email address or a nickname.

Choosing your Username

Ebay is more than just a auction site or a place to go and buy things it is a community, similar to Hubpages and the first step in setting up your Ebay account is to choose your Username.

This can be quite difficult because Ebay has millions of members so getting the username you want may be impossible, here are some things to consider before you choose your username.

Try to use a name that goes well with whatever things you will be selling on Ebay, example if you are gonna be selling DVD movies try to use DVD in your username. BestDVDsanywhere

Ebay has a tool that lets you know if a username is taken so that does help.

After you have chose your username Ebay will email you a link to click to confirm that you want to be a member,be sure to remember to go to your email inbox and confirm your Ebay account.

To buy and sell on Ebay I recommend that you have a PayPal account,it is simple to sign up for an account just go to and sign up, you will have to have a bank account, they will make two small deposits into your account, then you come back and enter the amount of the two deposits and your Paypal account will be verified. You can add funds from your bank account to your PayPal account to pay for item you buy online or if you are a seller then after an item has sold you can withdraw the money into your bank account.

Provide accurate info

Be sure when you set up your Ebay account that you provide accurate information, such as your address and phone number and email, it is also important to have a back up email in case you forget your password.

You will also be able to set up security questions, which are questions that only you would know the answer to in order to retrieve your password.

Remember to write your password down and keep it in a secure place.

You can also use your phone and use Ebay Mobile.

Tips on choosing a password.

There is so much fraud going online these days I think it is very important to have a strong password for any website you are using,Identity theft is on the rise worldwide so please use this tip if nothing else from this article.

When creating a password use letters and numbers and also capitalization counts.

It should be a minimum of 8 characters and not provide any personal information such as your name, birthday or drivers license.

It should contain a minimum of 3 of the 4 characteristics

  • Uppercase characters
  • Lowercase characters
  • Numeric characters (0-9)
  • Non Alphanumeric special characters such as ! @ # $

Here is a random password that I think is very strong

You can always ask for help

One of the things I love about Ebay is how easy it is to get help with anything, including setting up your account, scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a link that says sitemap, click that and you should be able to find the answer to any question you may have.

They also have a live chat feature you can use.

I hope this article helps you get started on Ebay and if you have any questions at all please leave it in the comments below and I will do my best to answer it for you.

Thanks for reading & happy Ebaying.
