Is Couponing worth it?

Updated on September 10, 2012

Time spent

There are several of my friends who ask me if couponing is worth it.

I spent 1.5 hours clipping/organizing for my trip to Target the other day. Then another 1.5 hours in the store. I would normally spend an hour (pre couponing) at the store so only an extra half hour.

I didn’t buy anything I wouldn’t normally use. Included in the dollar spot items were a couple of gift bags, a greeting card, and a BUNCH of scotch brite type of scrubbers and some steel wool which I use a lot at my house since we don’t use non-stick cookware.

Here is the breakdown of my trip:

You tell me...

Is 33.23 worth 2 hours of your time? I've seen people work a lot longer for a lot less. I'm not going to scoff at a part time job that makes $16.61/hour!

I just wish I could get organized with couponing. I think if I could I would love the "game" aspect of it as well as saving the money. But alas organizing is NOT one of my strong points. Awesome job sharing your savings with us here.

Your savings are awesome, i am impressed! I can' t ever seem to save much more than a few dollars when I use coupons.
