Latest News On So-Called Tax Refund Delays
The Answer is YES..and NO...
As most of us know, "the Big Delay" was announced September 29, 2014, that we could expect a massive delay until around October 2015. Many people, (like myself), were upset, disappointed and eager for answers because we all look forward to seeing our hard-earned tax dollars at the end of the year--on time.
The IRS recently announced the official start date of the 2015 Tax Refund season as January 20,2015. They will begin accepting tax returns electronically and paper tax returns will begin processing at the same time. That’s 11 days sooner than last year’s start date and 10 days sooner than the 2013 start date. This is great news for tax payers expecting 2015 Tax Refunds for their 2014 Tax Returns, although due to budget cuts, there still may be 1-2 week delays on the deposit/mail-out dates.
Federal Tax Returns are like "the Ultimate T.G.I.F" to most middle-class families across the country as it gets counted in as extra income for road trips, getting ahead on monthly payments, or finally gaining leverage on outstanding debts. However it's implemented, it plays a BIG role within personal finances throughout the year. I'm just happy there's finally confirmation and peace of mind.
