Making Money Online by Selling The Sizzle Not the Steak!

Updated on August 31, 2009

The best example of making money online is making money from people who want to make money from the Internet. It goes back to the gold rush era – Thousands of people poured in to California with dreams of striking it rich by finding gold and cashing in on their mining vocation. The truth is that only a small percentage of gold miners made money from their ventures – Probably less than five percent in reality.

People who really cashed in were the support companies for the miners – like tools (picks, axes, shovels, etc.) – The bars or saloons and the yes the whore houses too. Any money these pithy extremists made usually went to local vendors in one form or another – “There is gold in them thar hills” by the way you need a shovel and the shovels cost four times what the going rate because it was convenient supply and demand.

Make Money - The Biggest Market in The World

Millions of people today are just like those miners – they are told that there are millions to be made – and with relatively little work on the Internet. With high hopes and some desperation people are constantly searching Google, Bing, and Yahoo for the best strike it rich system available – via – e-books, software or learning programs and seminars. This is where you really make money online – sad but true: by taking advantage of the newbies and would-be millionaires. My ex-wife called them calculator millionaires. Someone who sits on the toilet with a calculator and keeps punching in numbers saying if I make this much per day - I can make this much in a month and this much in a year. But this is the extent of their adventure – the “What if” stage is where most people stay – they buy their online money making scheme package and that’s it.

The five percent of guys and gals that make real big piles of money from things like Google Adsense, and affiliate marketing programs like Amazon.com work very hard to create their passive income. The undeniable truth is that this real work that pays very little up front but gives massive dividends down the road if you keep at. Most will always give up before the salad days arrive for them and will dismiss making money online as if it were a plague of lies.

Learn How To Make Money Online - The Right Way

The others that sell the sizzle about how to make money online are the big benefactors in this industry – they know that people will pay anywhere from seven bucks to around $97.xx to a complete stranger for hopes of making money without working hard or at all.

How do I know this? Because yours truly has been on both sides of this Internet fence making money from Adsense and Selling e-books to people looking for a quick fix or cash infusion. So in the end you have to pick one or do both – “Sell The Sizzle” or “Do the Work”.

Good luck with whatever you try – you will and can become very wealthy online if you just apply some discipline and a great work ethic to whatever you decide to do.

I have been earning my income online since 2001 by simply writing articles and blogging. It´s hard work and the pay was really low in the beginning. For people just starting out, I would say keep away from those who promise instant riches with no work.It wont happen. There is a lot of work involved.
