Making Money on Hubpages: My Past Four Months

Updated on March 14, 2012
Hubpages seems to have the highest earning potential of all CPM based writing sites online.
Hubpages seems to have the highest earning potential of all CPM based writing sites online.

I have been writing online for almost three years now. Two years ago, I joined Hubpages and wrote a few articles for the site. Back then, there was no HP ad program, and I did not have an Amazon Associates account. Instead, my earning potential was only through Google Adsense, and even though I had a decent amount of views on my articles (around 500 each month at first) I didn't make a single cent from the site. I continued my writing career elsewhere, writing for Demand Studios, Bright Hub, and Suite 101, all of which suffered as a result of Google's Panda update and eventually saw their earning potential decrease at an exponential rate. This meant that I had to choose a different site to write for. I looked through Helium, Bukisa, and Factoidz, and was actually able to make a decent amount of money writing for Factoidz thanks to their upfront payment plan. (You can visit my Factoidz page by clicking here)

However, I also looked at Hubpages and decided to enable the HP ad program for my account. My articles were only getting about ten views each month at this point, which was decent considering that they had been untouched for two years, and I figured that I could make some spare cash from them. On my first day after activating the program, I got two impressions on my articles. I earned two cents from these impressions, with an estimated CPM of $8.50. This insanely high CPM inspired me to write a lot more for this site, and with a little research it was easy to see that while Hubpages had been hit by Panda, it was still a viable place to write for and earn from.

While these above earnings aren't amazing, they are much better than what my older articles on other CPM based writing sites are making. Granted, I am not putting too much effort into my writing currently, and many of my articles on Hubpages aren't getting too many views. The articles that seem to do the best all involve video games, though I did manage to get a decent amount of views on a proof of payment article regarding Gomez Peer. I will continue to write for Hubpages as often as I can, and to motivate myself to continue to earn money, I have set a number of goals for myself:

  • Achieve 10,000 monthly page views
  • Earn 250 followers
  • Earn at least $50.00 a month
  • Get 200 people to leave feedback on my hubs

If you want, please feel free with helping me out with these goals!

If you want to write articles gusta this one and earn money from them, sign up for Hubpages and start writing today!
