Bills Never Stop

Here it is January, and for many people the bills seem to just keep coming in waves. Maybe you overspent at Christmas, or maybe it is just that the utility bills are higher right now, but this is the time of year that a little extra money is a very good thing!

Sometimes, no matter how frugal you are you need a quick influx of cash to carry you through a hard time. It can be done. It is possible to create quick cash legally and in as little as a few hours.

Ideas For Quick Income

Pawn Your Stuff

Do you really need that gold bracelet? Gold prices are at an all time high, it is a very good time to pawn that gold jewelry you don't really need. There may be other things around your home that can be pawned as well. While you will probably get the most money for gold most pawn shops will give you money for electronics, musical instruments, and other items.

While it is, in most parts of the country, still too chilly for a good turn out at a garage sale consider getting rid of the stuf you don't need on eBay. You will be able to clean out abnd organize those overstuffed closets and drawers plus make a little money at the same time. That's a win-win situation!

House Cleaning

Clean someone's house - lots of people hire people to come in and clean their home. It really is a simple task most of the time. Be sure and meet with the homeowner and take a look at the house before you commit to a price. You don't want to find out when you get there that the house is a good candidate for the show, Hoarders.

Be sure that your price is competitive with others in your area. In many urban areas you can easily make $300 (or more) a week by cleaning houses a few hours a day.

Yard Work

If you have a tiller and some simple yard tools you can trim bushes and branches or till up someone's garden for a price. Often the work is not that difficult - just time consuming.

Make Money With Scrap Metal

If you are a good organizer people will pay for you to organize a closet, a room, or even their whole home. Be sure that you understand what is involved and check around to see with other people are charging.

Personal Chef

Can you cook? A personal chef grocery shops for people and then cooks several meals in their home, freezing them for the customer to thaw and heat at some later time.

Pet Care

Depending on where you live people may be interesting in hiring you to walk their dogs. This can bring you up to $10 an hour in some urban areas. You can also pet sit when people go out of town.

Share Your Skill

Do you know how to knit, spin, or play piano? Consider tutoring someone else. If you can find a place such as the community center or a local church where you can hold a class for multiple students you will make much more money.

Paint someone's house or paint a room for someone. If you know how to do faux finishes there may be quite a demand for faux finishing and stenciling in your area.

Sell your old books and dvd's on

Dumpster Dive

One man's trash is another's treasure! You can find antiques, electronics, clothing and other sell-able items in the dumpster. Although it is legal in most areas do check the laws in your community to be sure.

Pay For Posts...

If you have a blog do a few Pay For Post advertisements. You can make 100.00 a month pretty easily reviewing things on your blogs. Be sure to follow the FCA guidelines for disclosure - you don't want to break the law.

Run errands for people- everyone is busy. Advertise yourself as an errand person or personal assistant. Take people's cars to have the oil changed, grocery shop for them, take their dog to the groomers, or pick up birthday gifts. Be willing to do their running around - for a price.

Baking from Your Home

Sell baked goods, birthday cakes and such. Check local health laws, however. In Texas and many other states, it is legal and considered a cottage industry.

Take Care of Trees

Chop firewood for people or, better yet, advertise to haul away trees that have fallen. Charge a nominal fee for hauling and then chop them up and sell the firewood.

Blogging and Content Writing

Blogging and other writing online is a great way to make extra income over a period of time. While you aren't going to make money immediately, if you have a talent for writing and are disciplined you could be making an extra hundred dollars a month within six months or so.

Blogs can be created for free on either Blogspot or Wordpress. These are places where you can write about your personal experiences, recommend items for people to buy, and vent your frustrations about the rising cost of living.

Hubpages and other content writing sites allow you to publish informative articles. By joining these sites and writing well crafted, informative, and original material you can make enough extra money to pay for a vacation or something special...or just use it to pay off bills.

As you write more articles more people will be interested in what you have to say and it could open the door to other freelance writing jobs.

Use Your Imagination

Stay positive and use your imagination. There are lots of things that you can do to earn a little extra cash!

Make a list of the things you enjoy doing - hobbies, skills, abilities. Consider which of those might translate into a money making opportunity. Don't just choose one though, do several things. Remember the old adage, Don't put all your eggs in one basket! You might be surprised at how much money you can actually bring in.
