Quick Ways To Make Extra Money

Bills Never Stop

Here it is January, and for many people the bills seem to just keep coming in waves. Maybe you overspent at Christmas, or maybe it is just that the utility bills are higher right now, but this is the time of year that a little extra money is a very good thing!

Sometimes, no matter how frugal you are you need a quick influx of cash to carry you through a hard time. It can be done. It is possible to create quick cash legally and in as little as a few hours.

Ideas For Quick Income

Pawn Your Stuff

Do you really need that gold bracelet? Gold prices are at an all time high, it is a very good time to pawn that gold jewelry you don't really need. There may be other things around your home that can be pawned as well. While you will probably get the most money for gold most pawn shops will give you money for electronics, musical instruments, and other items.

While it is, in most parts of the country, still too chilly for a good turn out at a garage sale consider getting rid of the stuf you don't need on eBay. You will be able to clean out abnd organize those overstuffed closets and drawers plus make a little money at the same time. That's a win-win situation!

House Cleaning

Clean someone's house - lots of people hire people to come in and clean their home. It really is a simple task most of the time. Be sure and meet with the homeowner and take a look at the house before you commit to a price. You don't want to find out when you get there that the house is a good candidate for the show, Hoarders.

Be sure that your price is competitive with others in your area. In many urban areas you can easily make $300 (or more) a week by cleaning houses a few hours a day.

Yard Work

If you have a tiller and some simple yard tools you can trim bushes and branches or till up someone's garden for a price. Often the work is not that difficult - just time consuming.

Make Money With Scrap Metal

If you are a good organizer people will pay for you to organize a closet, a room, or even their whole home. Be sure that you understand what is involved and check around to see with other people are charging.

Personal Chef

Can you cook? A personal chef grocery shops for people and then cooks several meals in their home, freezing them for the customer to thaw and heat at some later time.

Pet Care

Depending on where you live people may be interesting in hiring you to walk their dogs. This can bring you up to $10 an hour in some urban areas. You can also pet sit when people go out of town.

Share Your Skill

Do you know how to knit, spin, or play piano? Consider tutoring someone else. If you can find a place such as the community center or a local church where you can hold a class for multiple students you will make much more money.

Paint someone's house or paint a room for someone. If you know how to do faux finishes there may be quite a demand for faux finishing and stenciling in your area.

Sell your old books and dvd's on

Dumpster Dive

One man's trash is another's treasure! You can find antiques, electronics, clothing and other sell-able items in the dumpster. Although it is legal in most areas do check the laws in your community to be sure.

Pay For Posts...

If you have a blog do a few Pay For Post advertisements. You can make 100.00 a month pretty easily reviewing things on your blogs. Be sure to follow the FCA guidelines for disclosure - you don't want to break the law.

Run errands for people- everyone is busy. Advertise yourself as an errand person or personal assistant. Take people's cars to have the oil changed, grocery shop for them, take their dog to the groomers, or pick up birthday gifts. Be willing to do their running around - for a price.

Baking from Your Home

Sell baked goods, birthday cakes and such. Check local health laws, however. In Texas and many other states, it is legal and considered a cottage industry.

Take Care of Trees

Chop firewood for people or, better yet, advertise to haul away trees that have fallen. Charge a nominal fee for hauling and then chop them up and sell the firewood.

Blogging and Content Writing

Blogging and other writing online is a great way to make extra income over a period of time. While you aren't going to make money immediately, if you have a talent for writing and are disciplined you could be making an extra hundred dollars a month within six months or so.

Blogs can be created for free on either Blogspot or Wordpress. These are places where you can write about your personal experiences, recommend items for people to buy, and vent your frustrations about the rising cost of living.

Hubpages and other content writing sites allow you to publish informative articles. By joining these sites and writing well crafted, informative, and original material you can make enough extra money to pay for a vacation or something special...or just use it to pay off bills.

As you write more articles more people will be interested in what you have to say and it could open the door to other freelance writing jobs.

Use Your Imagination

Stay positive and use your imagination. There are lots of things that you can do to earn a little extra cash!

Make a list of the things you enjoy doing - hobbies, skills, abilities. Consider which of those might translate into a money making opportunity. Don't just choose one though, do several things. Remember the old adage, Don't put all your eggs in one basket! You might be surprised at how much money you can actually bring in.

Yup , you are right ebay is still a good way of raising cash. Electronic cigarrettes are sometimes heavily discounted and then resold on ebay. Getting hold of discount codes and then placing the goods on ebay can mean you double your money.

Very good ideas! I've done the painting, cooking and pastry (cookies and cakes) selling. It hasn't expanded because I serve mainly family members and friends, a much reduced group of people. Do you have any ideas on what would be a good, fast and effective way to advertise my services? Especially for “alfajor” sales (which is a sandwich sort of cookie with dulce de leche filling) this is my top selling product, in my current small niche.

Then there's this crazy thing going around the internet that I'm sure you have all heard of. Something about making money with pay pal. You take the first person off the list and put your info last and everybody goes up one step. Everybody is supposed to make quite a bit of money. But if it's that easy, everybody would be doing it and if thats the case, it's one of those too good to be true ones.

At christmas time I cut some Mistletoe out of some trees on a country road and set on the corner near a shopping center and sold the 'Kissing Mistlettoe' out of the trunk of my car on the weekends and made money to buy christmas presents. I wrapped a red bow around the branches and sold 3/$5.00. I found people wanted Mistletoe and could not find it anywhere. I also set up for about 45 min. on my lunch hour by a busy cafe and made about $25-$50 a day. Ikept them in plastic florist tubes in a cooler.

If you'll notice all your suggestions -- and very good ones they are! -- have to do with manual labor. I think this is something often very much not understood, that the quickest way to make cash is to do sweat work immediately for someone -- work that someone prefers not to sweat but pay for.

With that in mind, it may pay off to add that doing work for those who are either no longer capable of straining themselves or have no time to do it makes the opportunity even more sure to pay off quickly.

Right now scap metal is trul growing in popularity! There are a few people who actually make enough to live by doing this and since this is not a job, the money earned doen't have to be reported. They get their cash in a ban with every metal part in their hand. Copper has the highest payout, but is the hardest to find!

I have sold my scrap gold jewelry online and raised some extra cash. This method has proven to give me the most money per ounce and contrary to my first thoughts is very secure, safe, and confidential. I don’t have to go to a pawn shop and simply mail my unused jewelry. I receive my check fast and was able to pay part of my debts. I would recommend everyone who has broken jewelry pieces to use this method. These online refineries pay better than local pawn shops and are very professional. They also buy silver and platinum jewelry at good prices.

The people commenting also had some good advice as well. Having been downsized out of a job early in my career I am a big proponent of both diversifying ones skills and ones sources of income. Things change and we have to be ready to change as well.

I have forwarded a link to this Hub to my sister who recently lost her job and is looking for ways to make money both to help while she is looking for new work as well as set herself up so that she is not as financially dependent on a particular employer for income.
