Save on your Grocery With Simple Apps

Updated on April 6, 2017

E-couponing

After trying many apps and months of research for the best apps that can help us minimize cost on our grocery, I have summarized it to these apps and web sites that I have listed down here. There is nothing you need to print and the only think you need to download are these apps. In most cases you just have to keep the receipt and make sure you save the product before you shop for it. In other cases you will need also the barcode of the specific product you purchased.

Just read the information about each app and click on the link underneath each picture to actually go to the specific web sites to learn more about each and everyone of them.

1. SavingsStar

- Can cash it every $5 directly into your bank account

- Every week there is a new healthy offer. 20% back on specific fruits and vegetables

- Every once in a while free items appear(100% cashback)

- Plus a lot more!

I have already cashed out a couple of times from this one. You only need to get to a minimum of $5 and you can have it directly deposited into your bank account. It has many different products but, since I mainly cook from scratch and we try to eat only organic, We usually get just the weekly healthy offers such as vegetables and fruits. What ever it is that week, you can buy any of the loose fruit or vegetable being offered that particular week. Just try to add it into the app by clicking into the plus sign before actually buying it or they might not give you the offer. They will give you 20% back of what ever you paid for that product, no matter how much you bought.

Every once in a while they offer something like a candy or something similar in value where they give you a 100% back too. Like I said, it is very easy and fast to get money back with this app and you can shop at almost any store too!

2. Checkout51

- Every week one healthy offer to choose from multiple options. $0.25 back.

- Many and many more grocery items as well as cleaning products

- Chances of bonus savings

- Redeem at $20 with a check

Again, I usually just get the healthy offer that is offered every week which also adds up overtime. However, there is almost an endless amount of possibilities. Every week, they offer 5 healthy products to choose from. You can only choose one of those but it is still nice that they give you an option to chose.

If you like a brand, at times, you get a chance of earning bonus money on specific brands and products and as soon as you get to $20 you can request a check.

3. Ibotta

- Use link or referral retrrwr and redeem a rebate to get $10 on your account

- More generic product to chose from

- Chances of bonus savings

- Team work for bonuses

- Redeem at $20 with either PayPal, Venmo, or Gift Cards

As long as you use this referral code, you will start at $10, instead of at $0 like I did. In other words, you will be half done as soon as you start! This one is another great app as it offers more healthy options as well as specific products of which you can buy of any brand. They also do offer brands and discounts for some restaurants and shopping but my favorites are the generic ones.

By generic I mean that for example, you will receive back $0.25 back on any shampoo or any detergent. For the fruits and vegetables I always go for the organic one which helps to off-set a little the extra costs.

You can redeem at $20 with either PayPal, Vemno, or a gift card.

4. Receipt Hog

- Submit all receipts

- Earn coins or spins

- More submissions equal more an more bonus coins or spins

- Redeem with either Amazon gift cards or PayPal

At this point, they have recently changed it so now you can submit pretty much any receipt. It can be from the gas station, grocery, and even from any restaurants. The worst that can happen is that you only win spins for the chance of winning more coins. The best is when the receipt earn you coins. These coins can be redeemed either in your PayPal account or for an Amazon gift card.

When you submit receipts regularly every week you also get rewarded with first extra spins and, eventually, with lots of extra coins.

5. MobiSave

- Promo Code DVYXNRKD

- Save the Saving of the product you like to buy

- Receive payment on your PayPal as soon as it is approved

- No minimum amount

-Discount on prescriptions

I have only recently started to use this app but already have been able to redeem a couple of times. That is right! In fact, this awesome app doesn't give too much money on each product you redeem but as soon as it is approved, you get the savings into your PayPal account. Even as little as $0.10 they will deposit.

Just make sure to save the product you have the intention of buying before you go to the store or they won't give you the savings if you add it afterward.

For the prescription discount, all you have to do is show the prescription tab at your pharmacy to get the discount instantly.

6. Shopkick

- Receive kicks for walking in to stores

- More kicks for scanning products requested to be found

- Kicks for purchase when liking a credit card/debit card

- Redeem with gift cards

This is awesome, most of all when you like to go shopping but don't have the budget for it. Instead of just looking, some stores gives you kicks for just walking in their stores.

There are also kicks you can get at stores like Costco, Sam's Club, or other grocery stores by looking for specific product and scanning their barcode.

Most of these stores will also give you kicks for purchase if you have your debit or credit card linked to the account.

I have already earned multiple times gift cards that I have then redeemed mainly at restaurants.

7. Paribus

- Link e-mail

- Link Amazon account

- Shop online

- Sit, relax

- If the price drops they will fight for you to give you the difference

- They keep 5-20% of the savings

This one is mainly if you shop online but, honestly, it can be used even for when you shop in store as long as you get an e-mail receipt.

All you have to do is link your e-mail and your Amazon account. They will keep track of what you buy and see if the price drops. If the price drops, they will fight the lower price for you. They will keep 5 to 20% for the price difference but you just get to sit down and get money back you would have not gotten anyway. My referral code for this one is 3BVuNM.

8. Giftcardgranny

- Research all discounted gift cards in the web

- Never again pay full price for Gift cards

This one is pretty simple. You just look up the gift card you will need and if they have it they will show you all the different web sites you can purchase them from and of course, you never pay full price! I don't even remember last time I paid full price for a gift card anymore. They have most of the grocery stores, restaurant, and stores I shop at. It is just awesome! The times I have had issues with the gift cards, I have always got a full refund too so I feel very safe with all of the sites I have tried so far. Right now you can earn even more! If you register, you can eventually redeem a free gift card. This is how we pay for our grocery now! Why pay full time when you can pay less on top of what ever coupons you have.

I totally understand Stephanie ;) to be honest with you, SavingStar does not keep your information. You have to input your bank account information every time. At least that is what I experienced ;)

Happymommy thank you so much for your nice comment! And yes, that is probably why ;) and I am about to get to my third gift card with shopkick. ;) it truly goes fast even without linking your debit card or credit card for the kicks for purchase ;)

Some of these look worth a try, and I appreciate you're giving your personal experience with these apps. I like the ones that give you rebates as gift cards or Pay Pal, but I would hesitate to link a credit card or bank account.

This is probably the most useful Hub I have come across on Hubpages. I am going to give Receipt Hog & Shopkick a try. I have always wondered why people were scanning items with their phones in Target in the morning. I am going to Pin this article.
