Why am I here?

I am going to attempt to do the 30 days of hubpages, but how much actual content you will get from these articles is still to be determined. I have decided to track my journey of getting started with Affiliate marketing and making some money.

Like most people, I have been interested in earning money through the Internet for a few years. I found various pay to click sites but as the clicks only garnered pennies for doing them, this was not very lucrative. I also would be on sites, get close to payout and they would disappear or they just never paid out. Suffice it to say, I quickly learnt that this was not the way to do it.

From there, I had heard about various freelancing jobs to be found on the Internet, but never knew where to find them or had the courage to attempt them. Then I found wahm.com and the area for people writing for the web. After lurking for a few months, I decided to jump in and start writing. My plans for this were never huge, but several hundred dollars a month and I ultimately made what I wanted to in 2010 through a combination of private clients, mills and some survey sites.

ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income

I am a blogger and I follow Darren Rowse through Facebook. He has a lot of good information and I'm sure this book is no exception. Lots of great reviews too!

I had heard about passive income and being able to make money by selling products through the Internet.  Being in direct sales, I know that getting people to buy things is not as easy as some people think it might be.  It is also harder to get people to buy some products through the Internet when they cannot see it or know who the vendor is.  I started to do some research, but never got very far with the research aspect of things and as a result, have not gotten started with my plans.

What I am getting at, is that I plan to use this challenge as a way to keep myself accountable in regards to my journey in affiliate marketing.  I know 30 days is not a lot of time and I don’t expect amazing results, but I would at least like to get some income streams set up and start seeing a bit of traffic come to them.

I also have some monetary goals that I would like to see with the various affiliate products (who doesn’t have money goals?) as due to my work situation, I will be taking a bit of a painful pay cut in a few months and it would be nice to have a bit of this side income coming in to offset it.
