5 Simple Ways to Supplement Your Income

Updated on April 4, 2017

Although side hustles and businesses may be great supplemental income strategies, some people may not have the time or the resources to begin their own side hustle or business. Many people simply need extra income without the hassle. If you are in need of extra money and you need ways to make it fast, here are 5 simple ways to supplement your income.

1. Take Surveys

There are a great number of survey sites on the internet that offer money in return for your time and your opinions. Some of these sites even offer opportunities to make money watching videos and playing games. That being said, many of these sites are scams who require you to pay to become a member or take away far too much time in exchange for too little money. Carefully research each survey site before you decide to join it.

2. Use PTC Sites

PTC sites, or pay-to-click sites, are sites that reward you for clicking on ads and watching them for a certain period of time. Unlike the previous method, PTC sites are not as available as survey sites. However, PTC sites are a great way to make some extra cash, especially if there is an abundance of ads posted on the website, and they generally deposit the money that you have earned straight into your PayPal account.

3. Utilize Your Smartphone or Electronic Device

If you take pictures, grocery shop, eat, or play games, you have the possibility of making money on your smartphone or other electronic devices. There are apps that pay you to do all these things and more. Using your phone, you can become a mystery shopper, an English teacher, a photographer, and even an investor. Some of these apps will only pay you a small amount of money, but others allow you to make more money than you would at a minimum-wage job.

4. Sell Unused Items

Many of use are guilty of having things around the house that we don’t use anymore. Instead of throwing them away, these unused items can generate income for you. Items such as books, DVD’s, and antiques can fetch anywhere from a few dollars to hundreds if you are lucky enough. You can get rid of these items either through having a garage sale or selling the objects online. If you choose the online route, you can also make money from objects you would normally throw away, such as toilet paper rolls.

5. Focus on Fitness

One of least mentioned and practiced methods to help you supplement your income is becoming fit. There is a myriad of opportunities online that will pay you to diet, workout, and track your fitness. If keeping track of your nutrition and exercising are already a part of your daily life, you can make money from it without having to put in any extra effort. If you don’t keep track of what you eat and workout, now you have the motivation to help you begin.

If you are looking for ways to supplement your income without having to set up your own side hustle or business, use the 5 supplemental income methods mentioned above to grow your income without spending too much of your time.
