How to take the kids to the vue cinema for cheap - UK

Updated on September 11, 2012

Taking the children to see a film rarely comes cheap but if you don’t mind getting up a little bit early on the weekend or in the school holidays then you can take the children to the cinema for as little as £1.50 per child and the adult even get’s to go for free!

Vue Cinema – Kids AM

This is perfect if you’re on a tight budget or you just like to stretch your pennies that bit further.

Vue Cinema offers what they call Kids AM. I’ve been along to it a few times now and it’s always very enjoyable (the kids of course love it too!).

You don't need any special promotional coupons or anything like that; you just walk up to the counter and ask for eg, 2 kids and 2 adults to see ‘what the film is called’. It’s just the same as any other trip to the cinema or you can book your tickets online in advance if you prefer to.

They have just over 80 different locations around the UK so it shouldn’t be too hard to find one near you.

Days and times

The films are shown on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. Plus they very often show the films on weekdays in the school holidays so it’s always worth asking in your local Vue cinema or you check online.

You will need to check for what time your film is showing according to where you live but most venues usually start the films at 10:20am.

Why do they offer it so cheap?

The films they show are ones that have already been out in the cinema for a little while so it’s like there last chance to make a bit more money from the film before it gets released on DVD. They show a different film every week.

Sometimes it may be worth waiting for it to come out on DVD if you know for sure that it's a movie the kids will want to watch over and over again. If not then it's a great way to test the water out first and of course it also makes a nice trip out for the kids.

Save even more and take your own snacks

If you really want to make it a cheap day out for you and the children then consider taking your own snacks and drinks. You can pop into your local supermarket or pound store and pick up a multipack of individual popcorn bags, jelly sweets or fruit bags and cartons of juice. Set aside the remaining items ready for the next time you go and you’ll save yourself a packet!

Prices and Rules

Adults Price - Free

  • An adult can take the maximum of two children - so if you want to take more than two children along then it’s a good idea to see if your partner or a friend wants to tag along with you (although I once saw one woman on her own with 5 kids and the staff didn’t seem to have a problem with it so you could try your luck)
  • Adults have to be accompanied by a child
  • No more than two adults can go per one child

      Hi Arlete santos,

Yeah this really is something hopefully everyone can afford to do once in a while, no matter how tight their budget is. Hope you can soon find a similar bargain where you live too.

Thanks for having a read and leaving your insight, much

Wish I lived in Great Britain. This is definitely a useful tip. It's difficult not offering children treats. This will definitely help parents give their children a little, even if they're strapped and trying to stay a float.

Really useful- with ticket prices around £10 for 'regular' pics and even higher for the burgeoning 3d flicks- this is timely advice. Will save us all a few bob. voted up!
