How To Make Money Writing Poetry Online!

Updated on January 27, 2014

Many aspiring poets have a burning desire to publish their poetry to let the world see it because it is their art! A lot of people wonder and question, how can I make it as a poet?

Everyone wants to make money in what they do. This is usually a hard case for poets, and we hear a lot that there isn't a big demand in it. Truth is, poetry is on the rise! Many celebrities have been acknowledging poetry, and by this, it is bringing people towards it.

Earn Money For Your Poetry

Now you want to know, how can you make money from posting your poetry online? There are many sites that allow you to do this, and you earn by the traffic you bring in from your work by the advertising that is associated with it. One of these sites is hubpages.

I started at hubpages with the intention of earning money for my poetry. As time went on, I proceeded to write articles as well, but this doesn't change the fact that you can earn from poetry alone.

Do You Write Poetry? If so how many poems have you written?

Start Earning For Poetry

One of my poems made a hit. I have over 1000 views on 1 poem alone, in just a matter of a couple months. Other poems, I have have numbers in the triple digits. This goes to show you can earn money for poetry online! It just takes time and it must be your passion within you to write it.

If your poetry is catchy, and people are drawn to it because they see your passion that you bring with it, this is going to bring you a lot of views. If you made 25-100 successful hit-poems, that alone is going to bring you outstanding traffic, and by me doing it, this proves it's doable! You too can do it.

Poetry Facts

  • There are millions of free poems published on the internet.
  • Poetry(dot)com has over 13 million poems published alone.

Earn For It

Many people post poems for free just for the delight in writing and to get it out there. In a way, when you do this, you are basically lowering the value of your poetry. Who wants to read a strangers poetry whose poetry is mixed with millions of other poems? Free poetry sites always get an instant feed of new poems that often never get read because they are lost with the masses of other free-poetry. You basically posted it for nothing.

When you earn for your poetry on sites with this format, it is your individual piece that stands out on its own, and you gain your recognition you deserve to get. To top it off, you are earning money for your passion!

Friendly Disclaimer

We must know going into this, it isn't a substitute for a job of any sort. But a way of earning for your poetry, and gaining the recognition you want, and to enjoy being able to post your poetry with getting something out of it.

This is also to say, this doesn't mean "one day" you can't make a great living off it. Men's belief can take him to all types of places. But for now, enjoy writing your poetry and earn something out of it.

I would like her to bring it out to the world that appreciate and can feel what its like to express your emotion to the world as only most of us can appreciate and can understand it. Fyi. She doesnt know i did this

Thank you for this article. I started posting some of my poetry on HubPages just to test the waters a few weeks ago, but I think I'll go ahead and post everything I have. Sending poetry to publishers is tedious, and some of them don't write back for 6 months!

You get paid by "AdSense" when you get accepted for it, and also, you can join the hubpages-program if you were to sign up with hubpages, and yes, they pay by the traffic you bring in.

What a delightful article. Thank You. I haven't written any poetry lately .Most of what I have written in the past is published elsewhere, anyway I'm afraid to try putting poetry in here- it would just get knocked down.
