Updated on August 19, 2013

Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim The Founders of YouTube

Youtube Basics

Lets face it we have all heard of or seen at least one video from the most popular video hosting site in the world YouTube. Most of us use YouTube for browsing for our favorite videos or as a way of passing time. Some of us even have YouTube accounts which are free by the way, yet we still don't know what to upload. Many of YouTube account holders don''t even have anything at all to upload how ever those of us who do have a few dreams, The biggest one would be to become famous on the internet because of a video or two that went viral. In most cases that doesn't happen and when it does it is really far fetched. Now that we have that out of the way and I have your attention let me run through some of the basic of YouTube and give you a bit of information that you may or may not already know that could be useful to you.

YouTube was founded in 2005 and Lunched December of that year by: Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim (all former PayPal employees). Shortly after the December launch YouTube reached 100 million videos in its searchable archive and new ones was added daily at the rate of 65,000 per day. In it's first year YouTube received 34 million unique visitors each month. It was Rank as one of the Top Ten most viewed websites in the world. On October 9, 2006 Google bought YouTube for $1.65 billion. After which they have incorporated their revenue sharing program that is only available to YouTube partners. By YouTube terms You can only become a partner in two ways. The more obvious way is to meet the requirements and then apply for a Partnership. The other way is by invitation from YouTube. Even if you meet the requirements all of them there is still a chance you might not get excepted as a partner. If you are invited to become a Partner by YouTube you are automatically excepted as a partner once you have confirmed and linked your adsense account to your YouTube account. You must have an active YouTube account and Adsense account both in good standing to even qualify.

Proof of Partnership with YouTube

Lets Get Started

To at least qualify for ads to be place in your videos you must meet the guidelines of YouTube services and partnership program. I will post a link to the guidelines at the bottom of this hub just above the comment section. Then you must link your adsense account and confirm your email. Then you edit your videos and watch the views roll in. If you don't know how to get views I have found it easy to just like your own videos share them on Facebook and twitter and post links or embed them to websites related to your videos or channel. This will increase the number of views you get per video also use key tags for each video make sure the tags you use are related to your video and include a few of your tags in the description or if you are like me use words from your description as key words when you tag. Now that you have the setup down and know what to do go create so good videos and upload them to YouTube and earn away.
