I would not advise buying silver. It hit its peak a few months back and even if it goes back up, it won't go up much. The time to buy would have been about 6 years ago.
I still think silver is undervalued. I hear it is becoming rarer than gold.
Yes, silver has real value. Pound for pound. It's been around for years and still holds more value than paper money.

Hi Sportsbetter! I haven't monitored the value of precious metals lately. For traders, many are shifting to silver from gold because it is cheaper and sells faster. For investment purposes, I don't remember somebody who invested in silver. I am not sure what is your position in the industry but hope my answer helps.
