How do you feel about retailers charging you up to 3% to use your credit card for purchases?

The recent settlement between retailers and Visa MasterCard now allows retail stores to charge up to 3% of the purchase price as a convenience fee. Many consumers feel that these fees are already in the purchase price and that retailers are taking advantage of the settlement.

Hi Weekend reader Thanks for the input - we agree! I think that the smarter retailers will be offering a cash discount instead of a credit card penalty if any change at all.

Thank you Jthomp42. 3% is a very high number for most of our clients and over 99% of that goes directly to the card issuing banks and VS/MC. I guess the real question is as a consumer how do you feel having to pay more when it should be a hard cost?
