DIY Dollar Store Crafts Projects

Make a Nifty Project For Less!

Crafting and present giving does not have to be laborious or cost the earth. You can find many treasures at your local Dollar Store waiting to be upcycled and blinged up. From gift hampers to craft supplies, and even DIY organization you just need a bit of inspiration and a few dollars to get going. Most of the jobs can be done with very basic DIY skills, whilst some many need the help of a local handyman.

1. Switch Plates

These are easy to make dollar-store switch plates. Use tissue paper and modge podge the tissue paper onto the plates protecting your electrical outlets and light switches. You can find many interesting scrapbook papers to recreate this idea; just find one that suits your d├ęcor and taste.

2. Lip Balm Holder

Ever wondered how to organize your lip balm? Make a lip balm holder with a candlestick and a round vase.

Finding party favors for teen girls can be tricky. All the items featured in this picture can be found at your local dollar stores. You can decorate bags with glitter glue for a personal touch.

Typographic art is very on trend. Don't spend a fortune at expensive shops; make your own! Supplies needed: fabric marker, pillow with removable cover, cardboard (for inside to keep the fabric tight), a stencil, and your favorite song or quote.

Purchase gift boxes at the dollar store & wrap the lid & box individually with your favorite wrapping paper to give it a more chic look.

It's so easy to customize a birthday gift for a child and wrap it. It's great fun for them to unwrap too. Dollar stores sell shrink wrap and the letters to spell their name and you will have great fun hunting down the items you want to put inside.

A great way to fill a stocking with useful items is to spend a little time at Staples or a dollar store where you can find all kinds of craft, school and office supplies for relatively little.       This is a cute variety of Dollar Store crafts that can be used as springboards for using items to personalize the projects. My favorite is the mosaic because I'm rolling some garden art ideas around my head.
