facts about being poor

Updated on September 22, 2015

How unsuccessful you will live here on earth has almost everything to do with poverty. God said to Adam, be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and have dominion. A poor man can not operate in these things. Poverty makes men to humiliate, subdue and have dominion over you with all you have. Please refuse to be poor.

These Are Few Facts About Poverty;

(1) POVERTY IS A CURSE: Deut: 28:15-20: From the above scripture, we have come to the conclusion that poverty is a curse. Poverty is not a blessing but a curse. There is absolutely nothing good about poverty. The proof of blessing is prosperity and also the proof of curse is poverty. The bible said in proverbs 10:22 “the blessing of the Lord makes rich, and adds no sorrow to it” So there is nothing Godly about poverty. Poverty is a cause and it is demonic.

(2) POVERTY IS A ROBBER: When you don’t have money, there is a kind of love you will never enjoy in marriage. Poverty robs you off the joy in marriage. You will not have the money to pay your children’s school fees, pay your house rent and some other bills talk of taking your family to zoos, museum, or recreation centers. When you see people that are enjoying all these things, you just wish to be like them. When poverty enters a man’s home, it will steal, destroyed and finally killed. There will no longer be peace in the house; the children who suppose to be in school will be roaming aimlessly in the street. It robs a man his due respect in his house since he can not provide for his family. The slogan of the house is “All Man For Himself”.

POVERTY HUMILIATES: Poverty humiliates man; it makes him to be despised. A poor man has no voice. It makes people who supposed to honour and respect you to relegate you to the back. You become an errand boy where you supposed to be the boss. According to Ecclesiastes: 9:14-15 “There was a little city with few men in it; and a great king came against it and besieged it, building great siege works against it. But there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that poor man” No matter how wise you are and you are poor, people will humiliate you, or term you “the poor wise man or the wise poor man”. If you happen to be the first child in the family and you are poor while your younger ones are rich, you won’t be consulted before the members of the family take any decision and action. Your younger ones will determine for you when to marry, how many children you will give birth to and they will also help you to do the family planning since they are the one to take care of you and your family. Therefore, you may not have much to say so that they will not withdraw the help they are rendering to you.

      You make good points here Stephen. I am sure no one chooses to live in poverty and for many people it is forced upon them through no fault of their own. The world needs to be more proactive in trying to abolish poverty from the earth we all share.

      You can be poor and still happy and successful in your own way. Having a happy and healthy family with enough food to eat and a roof over your head can be enough for some people. It is proven that being mega rich does not make people happier, but it does make life easier.

      There needs to be a redistribution of wealth in the world so the top five percent do not have more money than the rest combined.

      Poverty spreads discontent, disease, and the divide between the rich and poor actually cause dissent and ultimately wars. Thank you for writing this hub. The Bible contains many truths and the answers are there. We just need to look.
