6 Ways Kids Can Earn Money Online
Today’s kids are smart and intelligent and a large number of them are keen to get into a simple business that will earn them some extra pocket money.
Kids, some as young as thirteen, have found unique ways to make money online with some even making more than some adults earn from a nine to five job.
If you are under sixteen, you can earn money online in a number of ways, but the first thing you need to know is that you must have an adult's consent and expect to have some form of parental supervision. If you are over sixteen, you'll probably need minimal supervision and in some cases, go it alone.
Thre was an article published online not too long ago (you can Google it) that tells us how a 21-year-old high school drop out had made over a million dollars online through internet marketing. Apparently, he achieved this within his first year.
What do you think about that?
If he can do it that means some other youths out there can achieve the same too.
But be prepared. There is a lot of hard work that goes into earning money online and it doesn't matter if you are a kid or an adult, you'll have to be persistent and patient.
But, it is fun work too.
Of course, there are some not-too-hard ways you can earn money whether online or off-line, as long as you have a keen interest and you have the drive that's required.
At the onset, it may appear like a difficult task but remember, it's been done before and is still being done even as you read this article.
If you have internet savvy parents, they can introduce you to blogging or even the rudimentaries of internet marketing, probably the simple stuff. This will go a long way in helping you imbibe the habits of simple entrepreneurship and finding simple money making opportunities in your spare time.
Extra cash on the side may help you 'bump up' your pocket money where you'll be able to pay, for instance, for driving lessons, gifts, sporting gear, or extracurricular activities.
Six Ways You Can Make Money Online
If you are young and want to earn money online, or if you are a parent and your kid or any other youngster you know wants to start getting some online business experience, here are some moneymaking ideas to start off with.
1. Design and Sell T-Shirts Online
Whether you are creative or not, you can do this and earn good money online and offline too.
Designing and selling tshirts online for money is not so hard but you will need to learn how to use a T-shirt design software. Sounds difficult? Not really.
If you are sixteen years old and above, you can open your very own T-Shirt store online and sell not only tees but caps, hoodies, mugs, phone cases, sportswear, sweatshirts and more. People who buy from you will come from all corners of the world, be it New Jersey or New Zealand because all they will do is love your designed t-shirt and order for it at the click of a button.
But if you are younger than sixteen but smart enough to want to make some money, a parent or your older sibling (if you have one) can help you out with transactions and how to get the money you've earned.
Additionally, creating an online store means you can sell your products to other kids at school or people in your neighbourhood.
Best of all, you can open your own online shop for free.
2. Make Money Selling Candy at School
For as little as a $15 dollar investment, you can make money by selling candy at school.
This is a good example of "physical" selling offline. With your little investment which you can loan from your parent or relative, you can buy large variety packs of candy, (or other edibles) from major wholesalers like Costco or Sam's Club (Macey's cost a bit more), and sell the individual pieces at the regular market prices. A little tidy sum can be made doing this every school day, five days a week.
You can also sell games and cards to your schoolmates because many kids love games and cards and will willingly buy from you.
There are games companies that will offer their affiliates a free store to sell their products. eBay and Amazon are 2 large companies which allow you to sell their products. But you must be eighteen to be able to join Amazon or eBay.
3. Freelance Writing
Yes, you can earn money writing for other people. This is referred to as freelance writing
There are many freelancing services out there and depending on your reading and writing skills and what you've been asked to write about, you may be qualified enough to write for people online or offline.
Some who are 7th-grade level and above can write and get their message across. Complex writing may not be necessary as long as there are no typing errors, the grammar is fair and you get the points across which is primarily the main goal.
There are kids who need to write out their essays or do a report on a school project and they may need your help. It shouldn't be for free. You can use your expertise (as a good writer) to create reports on a subject you are passionate about and sell them online for some small profit.
The reports need not be more than 7 to 20 pages long and should only contain content that people or other kids can use.
4. Earn Cash Taking Paid Surveys Online
Another way you can make money is by filling out paid surveys online. It is so easy to do, you need zero experience and if you do surveys consistently, you will always earn a bit of money on the side.
Both the young and adults fill out paid surveys every day and this is a legitimate opportunity for you to make at least $2 an hour.
With some online survey sites, you also earn free stuff for your opinion about their products - anything from games and gift cards to packs of edibles. It's very easy to do a few surveys each day
One thing though, you have to know which websites to use and how to use them. And if you need guidance on how to succeed in paid surveys, you may want to try reading this for extra cash guide on how to take paid surveys
5. Offering Tuition to Children
Yes, it's true, you can earn pocket money offering tuition to younger kids online or offline.
Today's younger generation is more computer savvy and smarter when it comes to using computers and being on the internet. Why can't they then offer tutorials to the older generation on how to use the internet or any operating system.
Making money by offering tutorials may require that you source for initial financing to buy a good quality headset and webcam. Here is where your parents or relations can help you out in order to start your tutoring business online. You can always pay them back from your earnings.
If you want to spread the word about what you do, make some flyers and distribute them in your locality. Your grandparents or elderly relations can also help advertise your skills among their friends and acquaintances.
It is certain they will love to do that for you.
6. Sell on eBay
If you are 18 and above, you can sell on eBay. Who said online selling was only for adults?
Though eBay doesn't allow minors to set up an account, your parents can create an account for you. Once the account is set-up you can start to create items such as crafts, artworks, t-shirts, etc., and earn money by selling these items that you make.
If you make crafts like, for instance, rag dolls, colourful beaded bracelets, paintings, or pottery, you might be able to sell them.
You can discuss your creative abilities with an adult and ask them to please show you ways to translate them into cash.
Additionally, if you have lots of unused school supplies that you no longer need when school starts again, you can sell them on eBay. You can also sell toys and stuffed animals you've outgrown as long as they are in great condition. Maybe you aren't even excited about them anymore.
Perhaps you received a gift you didn't like for Christmas, and you didn't even bother to open the pack. You can sell it off too. Things like these - presents, supplies and unwanted items, are some of the things that can be sold online.
At ebay, you can also sell items you find in garage sales, boot sales, garden sales, thrift stores, or any other items you can get at giveaway prices.
Kids Can Earn Money with Encouragement and Guidance from Adults
As parents, we can encourage our kids to learn how to make money to pay for the extras they desire and earning online is a good way to start. It's less tedious than washing cars, cleaning out sheds, mowing lawns, or shovelling snow in the cold for a few bucks.
Starting early to learn entrepreneurial skills has its advantage and working for an hour a day will ensure they tow the right path.
You'll find that they spend less time watching television or playing video games and will enjoy the feeling of earning money for themselves.
Perhaps they may become young future millionaires because they started a business in their spare time and at a young age, right from home.
Adults and parents can check online websites or books that write about ways for kids to make money online and discuss the possibilities with them.
CAN YOU ALLOW YOUR KIDS TO EARN SOME MONEY ONLINE?
Supervising Your Kids
Allowing children under sixteen to earn money online is a great thing but they must be supervised closely by an adult who must make sure they monitor them. The internet is a global community just as any community, and you wouldn't let your kid wander around aimlessly in your community, will you.
Because the internet is a global community and not just as any community, you don't want your kid wandering aimlessly around without guidance. You should check periodically to make sure they are not using any illegal means to make money on the net.
They should also be monitored so that they do not get obsessed with making money and neglect their studies.
Finally, earning extra cash by themselves will serve as a foundation for their future, where they will possess the ability to handle their financial challenges on their own.
