Updated on February 4, 2021

For movie buffs, buying movies can get expensive. Subscribing to the streaming services offering the movies you want to see can be expensive. Even if you have multiple channels on your TV they may not always play what you want. Luckily you can find lots of full length movies online for free. This is a list of websites or apps that are perfect for frugal and budget conscious movie lovers.

YouTube

There are lots of movies available for free on YouTube. However many are illegally posted and the quality isn't always very good. Uploaders often use audio pitching, mirror imaging, and other techniques to avoid getting caught by YouTube's Content ID system, which can detect illegal content as soon as it's posted. If you have YouTube Premium, you can download movies for offline viewing.

Crackle

Crackle is available on Android devices, Apple devices, Roku, the Tivo Stream 4k, Fire Stick, and Apple TV. According to their website they have all your "favorite movies, hit TV series and can't-miss originals " Thanks to their partnership with Sony Pictures, there are many big-name movies and TV shows on Crackle. As I write this, some available movies are Charlie's Angels, Heist, Full Metal Jacket, Look Who's Talking, and The Karate Kid. It's an ad-supported service, so be prepared to sit through commercials. You can watch movies and TV shows on the website or using the Crackle app.

Filmrise

FilmRise is a film and television studio as well as a streaming service. It offers over 30,000 film and television titles. Movies and shows are HD-quality. Registration isn't required. Filmrise claims to run fewer than cable TV. Genres include Thrillers, Drama, Romance, Horror, Documentaries, Crime, and more from both Hollywood studios and foreign filmmakers.

Xumo and Pluto TV

Xumo and Pluto TV are similar services that offer a channel guide similar to what you see on cable or streaming television services. They also offer movies including free on-demand films. Xumo says it offers a selection of over a thousand free, on-demand movies. Pluto TV claims to have thousands of movies.

Tubi TV

Tubi TV offers free movies and TV shows in full HD. While they have commercials they say there are fewer than you would see on cable TV. They add new shows and movies every week. Genres include action, anime, Korean dramas, horror, comedies, and documentaries. Some available movies are Gladiator, K19 the Widowmaker, Legally Blonde 2, What Lies Beneath, Crash, Pink Panther, The Terminator, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and episodes of Naruto. Like with Crackle, you will find movies by big-name actors on Tubi TV. They have partnerships with Lionsgate, MGM, Paramount, and Starz. An account is required.

Popcornflix

The Popcornflix app is available for Apple and Android devices. Movies can also be watched directly on the website. No account is required. The site has over a thousand movies covering multiple genres like drama, comedy, action, horror, family, foreign, and documentaries. The movies are from Screen Media Ventures, a global independent motion picture distribution company. The app is ad-supported, so expect to see ads playing throughout the movies. They also have other apps with free content: Popcornflix Kids, Popcornflix Comedy, and FrightPix.

Classic Cinema Online

As the name suggests Classic Cinema Online (classiccinemaonline.com) is devoted to oldies, including silent movies. You can watch the movies at classiccinemaonline.com. They also have sister sites: classictelevisiononline.com and creepyclassicsonline.net (classic horror and sci-fi).
