"I want to live: a poem dedicated to aborted babies"

Updated on February 1, 2011

"I want to live" a poem dedicated to aborted babies"

They want to live just like you. They want to have a future, just like you; "don't they deserve to have a choice, just like you."
They want to live just like you. They want to have a future, just like you; "don't they deserve to have a choice, just like you."

"I want to live" a poem dedicated to aborted babies"

I want to say that this poem is dedicated to the many babies that didn't live through pregnancy. This poem is not to rattle any cages, even though I'm sure some will be; this poem is not to put anyone down for their belief or actions. I'm speaking solely for the babies that can't speak for themselves.

I want to live, just like you

It's the natural thing to do

At the moment of conception , I was given a new hope.

To pray that I'll be able to cope.

I want to live, just like you

It's the natural thing to do

To live my life of expectations and dreams

Not knowing whether or not I'll come into being.

I want to live. just like you

It's the natural thing to do

Your mother's choice was to let you live

The life of yours she wanted to give.

I want to live, just like you

It's the only natural thing to do

I have a heart that beats,now.

and Iook mom, I can breathe

But my lonely journey must come to end , I do concede.

I want to live, just like you

It's the only natural thing to do

You all talk about your choice to kill

What about my choice to live.

I want to live, just like you

It's the only natural thing to do

As I travel down this lonely road , all alone

No one to love me, or call me their very own.

I want to live, just like you

It's the only natural thing to do

I will never be wrapped in a colorful little blanket and carried home.

Or no one waiting with open arms

I want to live, just like you

It's the natural thing to do

I'm here sitting, waiting in your womb

Knowing I'm in danger awaiting my doom.

I want to live, just live you

It's the natural thing to do

You gave me a breath to breathe

A little heart that beats

But your choice to kill me, made it all incomplete

I want to live, just like you

It's the natural thing to do

Here I set waiting like a sheep at the slaughter

To be ripped, mangled and torn apart

I wonder even if my mother has a heart.

I want to live, just like you

It's the natural thing to do

I did not ask to be conceived, or brought into this world of hatred and shame

but your careless actions has brought me unnecessary pain.

I want to live, just like you

It's the natural thing to do.

Briana, if there are extenuating circumstances, that is a different story, this poem is for women that got pregnant and don 't want the problem, it hurts me that the babies don't get a chance, even though what ever the circumstance was they suffer the consequences.

      Screw. You.

Not all women who get pregnant can safely carry a baby. What should be done if the mother's life is at risk? What if she's raped?

I appreciate your poetry. I see things from the babies points of view. Can someone be forgiven for having an abortion or does God consider it a murder?

Thank you Monique for your visit and for your comment on my poem, I appreciate you and I'm so sorry for your lost that you had to endure. Most people don't understand that if any creature has a heart that beats, that it is life. You have the same name as my niece. since you don't believe in God, bless you and your babies anyway. creativeone59

Thank you again Rastamermaid, I wrote my feelings down as I see it without judging anyone,I guess people pretty much do what they're going to do, I just know because of the word of God that I can't do it in good conscience and live with myself.I also know there are extinuating circumstances, but I still choose life for the babies. God bless you. creativeone59

Very sensitive issue, with so many views on when exactly life begins and different cultures views.

What about rape or incest victims?

What about the cultures where baby boys are wanted and not baby girls?

What about scientist that say it's not a viable fetus til it has a heartbeat around 18 weeks?

What about when a woman's over 35 has a amino and told the baby has downs syndrome?

I can not judge or tell anyone what to do,or how to feel, because it's not my call to make for their life.

I just know God only puts on you what you can handle.

As I stated very, very sensitive subject!

      Respect!

Thank you C. Taylor for your visit, I see I rattled your cage, I wasn't my intention to hurt anyones feelings, I try to write truth the way I see it. Life is created by God; and if there is a heart that beats, then there should be a brain that finction too, even as small as it maybe, because there's no life without a brain, that means life cease to exist and the heart doesn't beat without the brain. As for the word killing, if you get an abortion, it's killing or murder of an innocent life that cannot defend or protect themselves. People don't want to feel guilty by commiting this act, so they will call it anything but killing or murder, but what is boils down to is ,it's exactly that. Sometimes the truth hurts, but God say the truth is the light. I know my writing want please everyone, but if I can get 99% of the readers in my favor; a few negatives want hurt. God bless you. creativeone59

I think you should probably research a little more about human fetal development before claiming that they're capable of desire, or choice; particularly before they even have a brain.

Additionally, calling abortion "killing" is not an ideal way to "not rattle any cages."

creativeone59 a very moving poem on behalf of those tiny babies who will never get the chance to speak for themselves. Back, pre 70's and 80's most abortions were done by what was commonly known as back yarders. Many girls who took this path to get rid of their unwanted pregnancy found that they could never again have a child. Others weren't so lucky and died of septic poisoning or some other complications. Abortions were actually illegal. Girls were actually put in homes to have their babies who were then adopted out. It didn't matter what the young mother wanted.

When birth control became available, abortions became legal (go figure) but only up to the age of 3 months. This was bad enough. I know there were some exceptional circumstances for abortion such as sexual abuse or rape but at least the girls had a choice while the foetus was small.

I do not follow the laws of today, they are totally irresponsible. There is so much birth control around these days and it is available practically anywhere and to anyone. There should not be any unwanted pregnancy's now and to top it all off you can legally abort babies now right up to their birth. What heartless person would carry a baby for 8 or 9 months, feeling them moving around then to terminate them.

You are so right sister. Those precious babies did not ask to be conceived. But there are many couples out there who would gladly give them a home

      God bless you creativeone59

A beautiful poem. I feel that we have to walk in others shoes before we pass judgement. I could never abort a baby, but there are others who feel differently. My hope is that if a child is not wanted, the mother will have enough love to deliver and let someone adopt. ( like me)

      GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS

I'd loke to ask a question. What do you think jappens to those babies that are aborted. I think they enter heven immediately, or their spirits do, but will they be placed in the womb of a living human being maybe in the millineum. What is your opinion?

I love this poem. I hope that it reaches someone who really needs to hear these words. It's beautiful. A baby is still a baby, even when it's in your womb, and as a mother of an unborn child, the very least you can do is give them a chance to live their life.

Only a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother could have written this expressive and touching poem.

The line " I'm here sitting, waiting in your womb,

Knowing I'm in danger awaiting my doom."...

really got to me...These unborn children are much more than " viable protoplasm " as some would want to describe...Thank you for this reminder that life, every life, is precious...Larry

This poem really moved me. It is so heartwrenching that thousands of babies will never see the light of day, because of the choices thier parents made to end their lives. I wonder if they ever stop and think about that fact that they themselves are still living and breathing due to the fact that their parents choose life instead of death for them.
