10 Things Everyone SHOULD be THANKFUL For

Updated on July 9, 2017

Things we should ALL be Thankful for:

This list is in no particular order. Please feel free to move these around based on your personal preferences or even to remove and replace with something that your prefer. This is not a complete list because a complete list takes more than 10 spots. Not all of these items are equally sexy. You have been warned, but go forth and enjoy.

1. INTERNET

You wouldn't be reading this if this amazing invention wasn't around. Thanks, Al.

2. INDOOR PLUMBING

You know you were thinking about this. Why would anyone want the alternative? You can criticize toilets until you are blue in the face, but this invention trumps all criticism.

3. APPLE

Who hasn't had their life or known someone whose life was touched by a product from Apple? You know what they say, "Once you go Mac, you never go back." Something like that.

4. CELL PHONES

You can have all the information you desire right in your pocket. Minute (Little)(nano) technology is amazing. Mork's nano-nano was a harbinger for great things to come (must be over 39 to get this line). My blackberry curve rocks. The Mac quote should be here.

5. DIGITAL CAMERAS

Now we are all professional photographers making super attractive images with great ease. If you are nodding your head in agreement, you might as well scream out a "yeah."

6. SPACE EXPLORATION

The fact that smart folks have figured out how to get a human to the moon (and back) and beyond is mind boggling. Hence, it is on the list. What the future holds, might require more money than we have at present, but if someone on earth has it and spends it, we might learn more about the vastness of space. If they find other life forms, they might want to read this list.

7. AMAZING DESIGN

Who would want to live in a world without beautiful buildings, cars, magazines, or sunglasses? Life is richer because of the Gehry's, Porsche's, and Larkin's, of the world.

8. BICYCLES

Mountain, road, cruisers, single-speeds, recumbents or whatever your pleasure are great ways to cover miles. Everyone should give their bikes a kiss of thanks. You should see my black and silver, dual suspension, fancy thing, that is too good for me, that I call my ride. I am thankful and probably should stop typing and start kissing.

9. ELECTRICITY

Clean electricity is super cool and trumps the plain old variety, but it does play an integral part in accessing the internet, keeping food cold, running lights and providing a very civil surrounding. Once again, this beats the alternative.

10. COMPANIES WITH WELL FUNDED RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Companies with well funded research and development departments that will create products we don't even know we need. If nothing else we should be thankful they are keeping smart people employed.

What would you add or change to this list?

Maybe I was leaning a little too much towards hardware. I love your list and totally agree. Haven't actually tried Ambien, but if it works for you, that is good enough for me. Did you enjoy making your own top ten list?

It looks as if we are talking about inventions, research.....

      1. Ok, I'm writing on the internet, so I have to put it on my top ten list. Otherwise, I'd be an ungrateful wretch.
