86,400 Seconds to Honor Freedom

Updated on July 4, 2012

God Bless America

Happy Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day!

Family Legacy

Today is a day to celebrate without question…Freedom reigns for us all!

There are approximately 86,400 seconds in each day, moments of time that belong to each one of us. We live each one of these seconds free to choose our destiny creating a legacy to leave behind for family and friends to embrace when we have departed to another dimension in time. Unfortunately most of us take for granted those 86,400 seconds each and every day of our lives. We forget that there have been wars and blood-shed in the name of the Freedoms we encircle daily. In our busy lives being human there are distractions that draw our attention away from the core values of what our lives should be focused on.

My family has grown deep roots in the soil of the United States. Immigrants who traveled long ago on over-crowded ships to reach the US in hopes of a better life my forefathers contributed in the military as proud American citizens. The women with the men off to war did their best working in factories manufacturing parts for war machines as well as tending to large families left with an absent father figure. It was a time of rations, sacrifices and emotional strife, it was the rhythm of the time all orchestrated in the name of Freedom.

Unlike my family of today, my descendants of long ago lived their 86,400 moments in time each day with thoughts of whether their Freedoms would one day be stripped from their lives. These people lived the life of war and its consequences daily, holding back tears, being strong and true to the American dream that life in the United States could be better. Masses worked together for the sake of the country and did what was expected… remaining true to the focus of the goals set out by the government leading the country of the time.

It was a moment of glory and pride! Children recited the Pledge of Allegiance daily in school, the Flag was cherished, and voices were lifted to the heavens as God was summoned each and every day to look after all the men and women serving the country they called home in the name of Freedom.

Time has changed many life experiences in the world we have journeyed to in the 21st Century, but choice of how we think, or give thanks has no bearing on time it is personal and belongs to each one us. So the challenge I put forth to each of you today is to find several moments each day out of the 86,400 seconds of time to honor living the American dream…Freedom of Choice.

My hearts Thanks to all the Men, Women and Dogs who have served in the United States Military.

Happy 4th of July to you All!!!

Freedom something we all take for granted, cherish, and feel when it becomes absent in our lives. Provoking, concerning, joyful.... a mixture of emotions !

Good morning Missy L! I love your eyes and what they see, thank you...I am a flowy type of gal!

I like your perspective on Freedom and its current state. I have many friends that have immigrated here from Poland..their comments in regards to the state of our Freedoms seems to be the same as yours. There is real concern in their eyes..it is almost a fear I see...they have all tasted communism and a socialize government..it was these core values in their lives many years ago that brought them here to America seeking freedom.

The journey of the US is uncertain that is for sure...I am such a peaceful flower it is hard for me to wrap my arms around it all...I am more the sensate feeling what is upsetting the group of people that dance around me daily or is making them happy. I am wired differently..this I know!

My prayers are always directed for peace and prosperity for all..I live so simple in that regard.

I hope your holiday celebration was an awesome gathering of touching with much joy and love...me xo

Missy P...first of all, reading your words is like watching a stream flow downhill - it's smooth and easy...mmmmmm...nice! And, i'm 'all in' for freedom - any and all - choice, speech, religion, sexual preference - just freedom, period. My fear is that we don't even know what freedom is anymore. Our 'freedoms' are narrowing every day - often by those who are supposed to be enforcing them...Happy 4th of July to you and your family, P!

Wonderful job! It is important to remember that this day is about so much more than barbecues and a day off of work (for some). It is about our nation's birthday, and the freedom that each and every one of us should be extended! Happy 4th to you and yours!

Good Word Picadilly/Pixie, our freedoms are in danger of complacency, when men such as obama begin changing all founding thoughts and ways, that is how each dictatorship has begun in all opressed lands, so we need to love our Land God and Freedom and vote down all such offenders such as the obama gang! For many waking truths and proof go to the sites at { first a good writing site with many free downloads and ebooks http://thehistorianbookstore.blogspot.com/ } and http://www.adamandeveseedgatheringministry.com/pro... { examine the signs prewritten by the minister that were written over three years ago and now fall each day, such as the Virginia Beach Virginia/Washington D.C. quake our Lord brought on the same day as the martin luther king statues unveiling in D.C., also the Japan quake and tidal wave, all prewritten and also go to the site of http://adamandeveinaction.blogspot.com/ contact with questions or answers... Respect

Fantastic Hub my family to before coming to the U.S. had thoughts of whether their freedoms would be stripped or lived their first few years under a tyrannical occupation. Happy Fourth!!!!
