86,400 Seconds to Honor Freedom
God Bless America
Today is a day to celebrate without question…Freedom reigns for us all!
There are approximately 86,400 seconds in each day, moments of time that belong to each one of us. We live each one of these seconds free to choose our destiny creating a legacy to leave behind for family and friends to embrace when we have departed to another dimension in time. Unfortunately most of us take for granted those 86,400 seconds each and every day of our lives. We forget that there have been wars and blood-shed in the name of the Freedoms we encircle daily. In our busy lives being human there are distractions that draw our attention away from the core values of what our lives should be focused on.
My family has grown deep roots in the soil of the United States. Immigrants who traveled long ago on over-crowded ships to reach the US in hopes of a better life my forefathers contributed in the military as proud American citizens. The women with the men off to war did their best working in factories manufacturing parts for war machines as well as tending to large families left with an absent father figure. It was a time of rations, sacrifices and emotional strife, it was the rhythm of the time all orchestrated in the name of Freedom.
Unlike my family of today, my descendants of long ago lived their 86,400 moments in time each day with thoughts of whether their Freedoms would one day be stripped from their lives. These people lived the life of war and its consequences daily, holding back tears, being strong and true to the American dream that life in the United States could be better. Masses worked together for the sake of the country and did what was expected… remaining true to the focus of the goals set out by the government leading the country of the time.
It was a moment of glory and pride! Children recited the Pledge of Allegiance daily in school, the Flag was cherished, and voices were lifted to the heavens as God was summoned each and every day to look after all the men and women serving the country they called home in the name of Freedom.
Time has changed many life experiences in the world we have journeyed to in the 21st Century, but choice of how we think, or give thanks has no bearing on time it is personal and belongs to each one us. So the challenge I put forth to each of you today is to find several moments each day out of the 86,400 seconds of time to honor living the American dream…Freedom of Choice.
My hearts Thanks to all the Men, Women and Dogs who have served in the United States Military.
Happy 4th of July to you All!!!
