A Letter to Bernie Sanders and You
Thank you for being a true American, a civil servant, a tireless advocate for the poor and the middle class. Thank you for being the type of person who has upheld your convictions and beliefs throughout your long career in Washington.
I have finally found a candidate that I can back with all of my heart. Since the inception of your campaign “by the people and for the people”, I knew that this was the type of presidential campaign I have longed to be a part of since I was young.
A campaign that has no lobbyists or Super PACs, but instead, is funded with small donations by each and every individual citizen in this country who believes in your bid to propel this country to greatness. I myself, a first time election donor, have made several donations to your campaign. It isn't easy to afford, but I know that every penny is going towards a future that I believe in.
Thank you Bernie for making me believe that it is possible to have a great president that cares about civil liberties, women's rights, peace, education for all, race relations, better wages, fair employment practices, and healthcare for all. Thank you for gaining the experience you need for the highest office and summoning the integrity that stops you from caving under pressure from the establishment. You've proven yourself again and again.
I'm a 50-year old woman who lives in a rural, mostly conservative part of Oregon. I may not be your typical supporter, but I am a typical American who wants to be proud of her country again.
You Bernie, are my hero. And when I go to the polls here in Oregon I will be voting for you. With that vote I will be supporting the rights of all Americans that work so hard to better their lives and help give their children a better future. And, if my dream is shattered and you do not make it to the general election, it will not stop me from writing you in to be our next President. You have my vote!
P.S. - To all Americans, I urge you, my fellow voters, to really take some time and get to know Bernie Sanders. Vote in your primaries, talk to your fellow neighbors, friends, people on the streets. And, don't think that Bernie can't beat Hillary because he can if you vote for him.
And, if you are thinking about voting for Hillary Clinton, let me just say, so was I, until I began to really look at who is behind her. Clinton is backed by the very same lobbyists that have run our country for years. That means that Big Pharma, Big Insurance, Big Oil, and Big Wall Street influence her decisions. Even if she wanted to help the common citizen, she can't; her ties to these corporate interests hold her captive.
You might say, that's what makes her so powerful and you would be right. The same kind of power that got us into trouble in the Middle East and the same type of power that crushed the common citizen during the recession. Please vote for Bernie.
See you at the polls!
