Time for Obama to Push a Derrion Albert Law

Updated on July 20, 2015

Back in 4/14/07 Chicago IL was selected by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) as the US bid city. Over two years later Chicago was eliminated from the first ballot in International Olympic Committee voting (10/2). A bid would have seen the the nation's 2nd largest city awarded 1.1 billion dollars in building revenue. In spite of the potential financial gain sentiments among Chicago's black community were divided, some feared the destruction of spacious Washington Park and the probable-forced move of the local black residents around it due to an anticipated gentrification.

In the end it certainly wasn't black concerns that kept the oldest international sporting festival from Chi-Town, it was concern about blacks... black youths in particular. And that was an obstacle the President, the First Lady, the Mayor and some woman named Oprah couldn't convince a committee of foriegners to jump over. The International Olympic Committee is just as they say they are, international. They are used to dictators (Hitler), terrorists, (Munich '72, Atlanta '95); organized groups of poor people who strike calculatingly and ruthlessly. The IOC no-doubt has dossiers on Arab terrorist, Euro terrorists, white American militia terrorists, Jewish terrorists, black African terrorists. What the IOC and their followers don't know about is the unpredictable antics of "Pookie" and "Ray Ray." My instincts tell me it was videotaped footage of a high school fight which showed several black youths engaged in open warfare, resulting in the brutal murder of a straight-A student just walking by.

The Pookie and Ray Ray incident in question I'm referring to of course is the 9/24 after-school fight that ended with the death of Derrion Albert just outside of Fenger Academy High School on Chicago's Southside when some participants suddenly singled him out and began punching, kicking and one even attacked him with a railroad tie (huge lumber). During the week following the fight, footage was posted on YouTube and it became the wallpaper behind the Chicago celebrities stay in Copenhagen. Therein the reason for the IOC's choice of Rio de Janeiro. It's not that Rio is a garden spot, the choice was made before they were able to submit their own video-clip of a drug-gang war a few weeks later. Some say the fight wasn't gang-related but based on 2 groups of students from "the Ville," and Altgeld Gardens. Others say Albert was beaten for refusing to join a gang (pitching gang-membership during a gang-fight might be a tough sell... I'm just sayin').

The real kicker (no pun intended) is, two of the 4 (Eugene Riley, Eugene Bailey, Silvonus Shannon, Eric Carson) charged in the death were out of high school (perhaps even graduates) and were legally employed somewhere. Well, can't let little things like adult responsibilities prevent us from participating in these all-important after school gang-fights, right. The IOC knows that during their youth, terrorists didn't kill their straight-A classmates, they made them their leaders. Black American boys do just the opposite and adhere to lower standards with each generation; bad is the new good, ignorance is the new knowledge, prison is the new college, black women are the new black men, black men are the new black women or new black child, good grades is acting white, bad grades is acting black. The new Civil Rights is the right of black boys to simply say "bitch."

Most Pookies and Ray Rays are "raised" by a Shaniqua; a young urban black female immersed in Blue Tooth, blue hair, red weaves, purple nail extensions and texting. Actually she's known to devote much attention to anything of color except her black sons. Shaniqua may seem like she stubbornly refuses to raise her boys by traditional family rules the way single-mothers of my day did, the reality is, how can she even know what that is? Pookie gets low grades, Shaniqua wants to fight the teacher. Ray Ray won't listen to his high school basketball coach, Shaniqua gets mad at the coach. As time goes on Pooki and Ray Ray begin to think just like Shaniqua do; that which is raised by troubled black single woman, begins to think like a troubled woman. How so? They take everything personal (as troubled women do). They think almost every remark, look and greeting is a diss (as troubled women do). What confuses their peers is they lift weights and/or even carry a gun. Much of this downward spiral would be reversed if Shaniqua decided to get mad at Pookie and Ray Ray, but those are her babies she'll say. She's right, her babies, her prison visits, her funerals, all hers. Police, lawyers, Judges, prison gaurds all depend on Shaniqua's enabling. They make a great living off an army of incarcerated Pookies.

Solution: President Obama can go a long way in avoiding more international embarrisments from the black youth his community organizing didn't have much effect on, by writing and pushing a Pookie and Ray Ray Bill. In fact call it the Derrion Albert Law; legislation that targets not only Pookie and Ray Ray, but incarcerates their indifferent, enabling mother and absentee father, if it is proven they weren't actively involved in teaching them right from wrong. This measure must be undertaken irregardless of how the Jesse Jacksons, Al Sharptons or Michael Eric Dysons will feel or say about it. It's one thing to allow these youth to continue to destroy their blocks, it's quite another to watch them cost their cities billions in economic aid.

If crime, or lack thereof, was the deterrent to choosing the Olympic city, then, why, pray tell, was Rio de janeiro chosen? It is a city where most cars have to be bullet proof, and the crime rate is off the charts. I believe that the selection committee is attempting to give 3rd world countries a bit of the "action." obviously, that's why they chose Johannesburg.

Does any of the money help the poor? Probably very little!

I don't know if you've ever been to Chicago before black man, but you're definantly right about the cycle of our mentality (especially among the youths). And I'm happy we didn't get the Olympics, it's mostly due to the Derrion Albert incident among other issues in the city. But Chicago (especially it's inner city) was built specifically to be a inhabitant dwelling. They wanted to put a international sporting event in the middle of the ghetto of an already financially troubled city and interrupt our living with all this Olympic extravaganza that poor black folks aren't use too. And Chicago would've became a police state as police presence would've literally quadrupled to assure safety, it would've been horrible. Then they made that corny big-budget overnight pitch for the Olympics the day before the winner was announced, not acknowledging all of the problems in and around the city. All them corny white folks in the commercials would be singing a whole new different tune if it was coming to their neighborhood, or their lil' suburb. I'm so happy we didn't get that crap, I could've did cartwheels and backflips all day long (even if I was in a wheelchair).

pointblank009, great hub, enjoyed getting the info point blank. Here is a point though, if you think President Obama is going to propose any real meaningful laws, forget it. All he can think of is Health Care Reform when innocent Grade "A" young black men are being murdered. Let me tell you, he is a carpet bagger, he grew up rich on his grand parents dollars. He moved to Chicago to meet the "right" blacks to make a career. He has succeeded but does he care about the poor single parent black children in Chicago. No!

Thanks much for the follow and I will return it.

I must commend you for your lack of fear from your own community labeling you. Unfortunately what you said about taking down the intelligent has been prevelent even in the 1950's, but not to the extent it is today. I call it; "FEAR OF LEGITIMATE SUCCESS."

An article such as yours will not be seen often, if ever in Chicago. I live in the Chicago burbs but grew up in the South Bronx. Thinking back to my childhood I can see how this situation become what it is.

In the 1950's the children were treted differently by parents and teachers, they knew the consequences of doing wrong. The 1960's started changing things, with the push for entitlements. Jesse Jackson helped destroy the Black community through welfare.

Backed by "White Liberal Guilt," which I do not understand, the good Reverend was able to label Whites as racists if they did not go along with what he said. My decendents were being murdered in Russia and other countries during slavery; so why should I feel guilt. I do feel empathy. But I digress to what can be done.

I was going to run an on-line campaign for the Presidency in 2012 I knew I had to lose. Still certain issues in my Platform would have helped everyone in the country. I have written a Hub that includes my Platform.

1- Welfare was designed to be a two or three year program to get yourself together, the Democrats have made this issue a generational condition. If one is able to work after 2-3 years of training they must be cut from welfare. This brings about....

2- Responsibility: Parents cannot be responsible for others, if they aren't responsibile for themselves. Children will emulate their parents.

3- Welfare destroyed the Black family through separation. There is NO pride in not knowing who your father is. Nothing is more important to getting things started than Marriage.

4- Don't blame others for your taking drugs. It is not a disease, it is your choice. You can so to speak, program your childre if they are responsible.

5- Don't be affraid to be different, especially if it is intelligence.

6- These marches after a death have done nothing. Men need to start a community patrol with police help.

7- Teach the children that the police are good.

I hope I haven't said too much, or sounded like an idiot. These are my feelings from my experiences.

Actually support Med I just close my eyes and hit a link. But since you are such an insightful person, it looks like I lucked out. Seriously I think I can pretty much guess who will give me good readership and response just by looking at their avatar. Don't ask me to explain, even animation means a lot. Your right, the general military population could not have "Pookie and Ray Ray" patrolling Iraq with them, most of those kids are used to shooting and killing people who don't expect them (unarmed). The Military, even the army no-longer is putting emphasis on shoot-first soldiers. In a war were the enemy pretty much hides among and acts as civilians, they need cool thinking heads. Thanks a lot & I appreciate your input.

Thank you for becoming a follower. What I write about is so much at the other end of the spectrum than from what you write about and I hope you do not mind me asking, what made you become a follower? I have not been with hubpages long either. I am finding it to be a great experience and everday I become aware that many hubbers are very wise, intelligent, knowledgeable and educated and business minded people. This hub you have written is extremely informative and I am glad I stopped by to take a read. You really are pointblank in what you say. I am hoping as well that something can be done about this because we are losing our good people and the bad seem to increase. Since they want to fight and carry and use weapons, those are the ones who should be going to the military. I am not even for war at all, but this may be the only way a lot of wayward (putting it politely) teens and young adults may learn some discipline and civility. However, it is to my knowledge that even the military do not want these types of people(although I think they need to change that). You are a pretty tough writer and I have to really think and choose my words carefully before responding. It is evident, however, that you care a lot and are conscious of the direction the people of this world, and the world itself is going. There is much to be considered of Jon Ewals response. Pointblank, you are right again, had the excellence of education of inner city students and schools ranked high in the thoughts of our leaders, much of what we see going on with our young black people would not be going on today. It's not just a 'black community' problem. There is a problem with the focused agenda of our leaders of the black community, all of whom are not black. I look forward to reading more hubs by you.

Hopefully he will Lady, it's the most drastic measure I can think of. gkelly2ya, your experience only confirms my point. Good point on the class differences of Shaniqua, the only way she's going to listen to her brats' teachers is if pop-culture repeatedly tells her and puts it to a good beat. JON EWAL you're right as well, union cities like Chicago, Philidelphia, Buffalo (civil service unions), Newark and New York must look beyond strikes and pensions and concern themselves with the well-being of the education of inner city students and schools.

"incarcerates their indifferent, enabling mother and absentee father, if it is proven they weren't actively involved in teaching them right from wrong"----->wrong is the new right, lol

You are a mess...but I agree wholeheartedly. As a classroom teacher I am spending 7 1/2 hours a day with Pookie and Ray Ray and it isn't cute. They come with no pencils, no paper, no homework, and no respect. I stopped calling their mama's after my first year of's fruitless to have her trifling behind in my space, she isn't always black and she isn't always low on the socio-economic scale. She IS neglectful of her children. Talk about Shaniqua the business woman because she has issues as well. Her children are also bad as hell, but she will go to the principal or superintendent for sympathy...and gets it, I'm too through.

      I love your voice Chris

Chicago is a democrats union city and one must wonder why the black community tolerates gangs and illiteracy in their youths.
