It has been theorized that the true age of the earth is about 4.6 billion years old, which was formed at about the same time as the rest of what composes our solar system.

Origin of the Earth

Almost 5 billion years ago, a mass of earth, air, water and fire, brought together by cosmic forces, and small pieces of planet material interacted. It came to pass that the whirling object of elements and substances metamorphosed into the blue and green and brown creation we know as Planet Earth with all of nature is the Mother of us all.

Mother Earth is the source not only of life, but also of all beauty.
Mother Earth is the source not only of life, but also of all beauty.

Mother Earth

Mother Earth has produced and nurtured all life since the beginning of time. She has provided us with a natural environment of bracing wind and breathable air, magical forests and edible plants, poetic blue oceans and sea and potable water, dreamful rainbows and nourishing rains, storybook streams and irrigating rivers, picturesque landscapes and arable bands, dazzling flowers and delicious fruits.

Mother Earth is the source not only of life, but also of all beauty. Some make life not only possible and beautiful, but also filled with wonder and with meaning.

But Mother Earth is now in danger. Our life-giving planet is on the brink of the graves disaster she has ever been made to face.

What monstrous shape has this crisis taken?
What monstrous shape has this crisis taken?

Global Environmental Crisis

For many years, the threat of nuclear annihilation stared her down. Man's madness and propensity with war, produced weapons for mass destruction which could eventually wipe out most of humanity and much of nature, had they been used. The thawing of the Cold War between the USA and Soviet Union has given us temporary reprieve from the nightmare. But now, another threat to all forms of life has risen, and stalks all corners of the Earth.

This new horror, a great part of man-made, has been given a name as ominous as nuclear annihilation. The GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS.

Global warming is the global-average temperature increase that scientists and climatologists observed over the last one hundred years or more.

Climate change is an alteration in the average weather that a given region experiences.
Climate change is an alteration in the average weather that a given region experiences.

Global Warming and Climate Change

What are the issues involved when we talk about global environmental crisis?

These are global warming, climate change, ozone depletion, loss of biodiversity, water pollution, forest destruction, corals and mangrove destruction and coral bleaching, air pollution and population growth.

We are going through a critical phase of Global Warming as more and more carbon dioxide is being released into the higher atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuels. The atmospheric blanket absorbs and traps the heat of the sun like greenhouse, increasing the planet's temperature and creating the Greenhouse Effect.

Global warming is the global-average temperature increase that has been observed over the last one hundred years or more. But to many politicians and the public, the term carries the implication that mankind is responsible for that warming. More than half of the world's Nobel laureats and the National Academy of Sciences warned that global warming is the most serious environmental threat of the twenty-first century. The thermal heat expansion may result in a 3 to 5 foot rise in the sea level around the world that could swallow island nations and low-lying countries.

Climatologists, scientists and researchers believed that climate change is an alteration in the average weather which a particular region experiences. This change involves patterns of temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind and seasons on a global scale.

Changes due to a more frequent and severe storms, floods, and droughts and warmer temperatures, present threatening risks to the well-being and livelihoods of millions of people in the Third World countries or simply the poor people who depend on the land and coastal resources for their survival.

Researchers, climatologists and scientists considered climate change as one of the greatest social, economic and environmental threats of our time. Most of them said that it is a significant and lasting change in the statistical distribution of the weather patterns over periods ranging from decades to millions of years. According to them, it could be a change in the average weather conditions or in the distribution of weather around the average conditions. Climate change adverse impacts are already evident and may intensify over time.

Scientific evidences indicate that since 1950, the world's climate has been warming already, primarily due to emissions from unfettered burning of fossil fuels and the razing of tropical forests. The said adds to the atmosphere's invisible blanket of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping "greenhouse" gases. Recent researches found that methane flowing from landfills, livestock and oil and gas facilities, is a close second to carbon dioxide in terms of the impact on the atmosphere.

Ozone depletion
Ozone depletion

Ozone depletion

As a result of intemperate use of chlorofluorocarbons, our protective sky has literally been opened with giant hole in the atmospheric ozone layer which keeps out harmful ultraviolet radiation from the sun.

The chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs migrate to the upper portion of the atmosphere where they are broken down by the sun's rays, releasing the atoms of chlorine which destroy ozone.

According to the National Aeronuotics and Space Administration (NASA) predicted that there would be a 10% depletion of the ozone layer worldwide by 2050. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), also warned that the loss of ozone of the said magnitude would result in millions of cases of skin cancers from exposure to increased ultraviolet radiation.

Ozone depletion could lead to damage of the immune systems of animals and humans due to vulnerability to outbreaks of long- established diseases and pathogens. Likewise, plants, plankton would be heavily damaged by the ultraviolet radiation.

We derive our basic needs (food, shelter, and clothing, from the biological richness all around us.
We derive our basic needs (food, shelter, and clothing, from the biological richness all around us.
Biological diversity also provide us with medicine.
Biological diversity also provide us with medicine.

Loss of Biodiversity

The Biological Diversity of the planet is threatened as an increasing number of distinct kinds of plants and animals and microorganisms die out or become extinct with the destruction of their ecosystems and habitat.

The viability of humans is threatened too by the irretrievable loss of species, ecosystems, gene pools and ecological processes, since we derive from them practically all our needs such as food, clothing, shelter and. medicine.

Plants and animals provide us with aesthetic value in making the entire world so beautiful. They also provide us with a sense of familiarity, continuity and a sense of place which is so important in mainstreaming our sense of security in places where we are into.

Water pollution is causing harmful effects on all forms of aquatic life.
Water pollution is causing harmful effects on all forms of aquatic life.

Water pollution

Our seas, rivers, oceans and streams are already being polluted by all kinds of wastes, effluents, toxic chemicals and lately by massive oil spills with unfold harmful effects on oil forms of the aquatic life making up the freshwater and marine ecosystems)

Destruction of the world's forests is leading to a widespread desertification of the earth's soil and mass extinction of species.
Destruction of the world's forests is leading to a widespread desertification of the earth's soil and mass extinction of species.

Forest destruction

The forests are past being depleted with tragic consequences for the soil; in some places, soil erosion through wind or water does not stop. In others, desertification has already set in and continuously spreading.

Forest destruction is intimately related to the degradation of biological diversity. The forest ecosystems nurture avast variety of life forms which sustain life through food and herbal medicine.

Coral destruction
Coral destruction

Corals and mangrove destruction and coral bleaching

In tropical countries like the Philippines, the destruction of corals and mangroves which are the breeding grounds of fish and other aquatic life destroys not only the natural beauty of the environment but also the livelihood of millions of fisherman.

Air pollution and population growth

Finally, as if to dramatize the pall of doom that looms over the planet, the grimy shroud of air pollution hovers in the sky above densely populated and combustion engine clogged cities, causing disease and debilitation and a growing number of pollution-related deaths.

The Threatening Global Environmental Crisis

Climate Summit 2014

The Climate Summit 2014 will be held on September 23,2014, United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA. Heads of State and Government along with business, finance, civil society and local leaders are expected to attend the said summit. The Summit is designed to catalyze action by governments, business, finance, industry, and civil society in areas for new commitments and substantial, scalable and replicable contributions to the Summit that hopefully may help the world shift toward a low-carbon economy.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon intends to forge a solid foundation on which to anchor successful negotiations and sustained progress on the road to reduce emissions and strengthen adaptation strategies.

Conclusion

A fitting end to this article is through adapting the pledge given by Bella Abzug. Saving Mother Earth in our own little ways will make a big difference.

Pledge of Allegiance to the Family of Earth

"I pledge allegiance to the Earth, and to the flora, fauna and human life that it supports: one planet, indivisible, with safe air, water, and soil, economic justice, equal rights, and peace for all." - Bella Abzug

In this generation the real fact is that We cannot deny the reality that the whole globe is truly affected by the so called Global environmental crisis in which every Juan is a victim, complainant and a suspect in the happenings around Mother Earth.

Global warming is the most rampant issue nowadays , Global warming is the average temperature of Earth has increases since 1950 until now the temperature continuing increasing. Global warming can also refers to climate change that causes an increase in the average of temperature. However global warming are causes by natural events and human that are believed to be contribute to increase in average temperatures.

If wea can hear the voice of Mother Earth asking for a help the only word that we can hear is Respect because every Juan will be a victim of its own crime.,As per Miss Earth 2004 Priscilla Meirelles "Who suffer is us, humankind. And love is what would solve our problem". We are responsible to the sustainable trashes which affect humans life, We people are the one who can clean and take back the Mother Earth to its finest green and clear.

Our earth is “sick”. We humans need to “heal” the earth. Global Warming have causes many problem for human but we human who make global warming happens. Many people have died because of disease or disaster. It also affects the economics of the country. However, we need to be reduce the global warming by using less gasoline, recycle and human should help to reduce global warming instead of making the earth temperature increased. Our generation should start taking care of the earth because in the next generation they will suffer if we do not do reduce global warming. Therefore, global warming is a serious issue now. As a Political Science student we are learning it because we need to understand the effect of climate change that will affect our country the world that we will lead tomorrow and we can start saving the earth.

"The Life of human, is indeed connected to the Environment."

Time has gone so fast, our Environment is started to destructed. Not because of the natural phenomena, but because of those people who abused our one and only Mother Earth. Yes! Intentional or unintentional, we slowly destroy the Environment that God given us. We're failed to took an action, to fulfill our responsibilities in protecting and preserving our natural resources. Then, at this point of time we're facing the consequences such as; Global warming, Different pollution, Extinction of flora and fauna that was all made by us, humans. Because of all of these problems humans are being charged for all of the things that they made.

Based on Ms. Karen Beck Pooley, a Professor of Practice of Political Science and the Director of Lehigh University's Environmental Policy Design program, told IPS: "One thing that we've always known but we haven't paid as much attention to until fairly recently is the degree to which people's immediate environments affect their health." In this time, globalization and modernization is one of the factors why we forget to pay attention to our Environment. We never look for the solutions to preserve our Environment. As a matter of fact, we focused more on modernizing our Earth while our Mother Earth is suffering from it.

As a Political Science Student, I am with any one of you. Fighting the same advocacy, highlighting the adverse effects of Global Environmental Crisis. And encouraging our fellow people to look for such answers that could be solved the problem in Global Warming. Let's conserve our Mother Earth, and let the new generation see how beautiful the world is.

As time goes by, various of environmental crisis emerged in our globe and it was resulted to severe effects not just to us but also to Mother Earth. There are different factors that triggers our environment to revenge us misery in the form of environmental crisis and one of these is our gross misconduct towards environment. As per Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco stated, " The real problem in this world is not climate change it is our ignorance and apathy". Based on her statement, we cannot deny the fact that it is our mistake why we are suffering environmental crisis. For me, Human Garbages and Trashes, Pollution, and Illegal Mining, Fishing and Logging are three major causes of environmental crisis.

First, Human Trashes and Garbages. Why is it hard for people to segregate their garbage? Why is it hard for us to put our trashes to proper trashcan? According to World Bank (2019), "In 2016, the worlds' cities generated 2.01 billion tonnes of solid waste, amounting to a footprint of 0.74 kilograms per person per day. With rapid population growth and urbanization, annual waste generation is expected to increase by 70% from 2016 levels to 3.40 billion tonnes in 2050". Our problem with garbages becomes bigger and it is indeed disturbing.

Second, Pollution. Any forms of pollution nullifies the setting of our ecosystem. Massive machines and factories are the main contributor of pollution. It harms the biodiversity in land, water and air. Many species lost their habitat due to uncontrollable pollution. The ozone layer is slowly desolating. We are now living in an ocean of dirty air. And worst, each of us do not notice that we are contributing unintentionally to pollution.

Lastly, Illegal Mining, Fishing and Logging. This has been an issue for many countries around the world. Illegal mining destroy mountains that caused landslide and water and air contamination while illegal fishing leads to the destruction of coral reefs and marine ecosystem that resulted to extinction of some of marine species and then the illegal logging that exterpate the forest and it resulted to floods. Geophysical entities of the earth gets damage due to illegal practices towards environment done by humans.

To end this, I would like to say that it is our responsibility to protect and preserve Mother Earth for the next generation to have a better place to live in. Exert macro effort and it will result to a macro effect. We are the catalyst for change. Change lies within us. Start to have an eco-friendly and clean lifestyle before it gets too late.

A few years ago, I was wondering how convenient our life would be if everything is technology-based. Who would not want an easier life? Surely, nobody would. But now, as a person who is now starting to face the consequences of the issues involved in the global environment crisis, all I can say is that I am very worried that we are getting used to worst conditions. However, the question is, how much longer can our Mother Earth support life if we are the ones who destroys her?

They say that having a resilience is an essential quality that makes one a Filipino. This important Filipino value has been tested by numbers of hard times that we have faced. But what if this value that we are proud of is actually a bad attitude to have when too much applied in our daily life? Resilience is the “ability to smile away and laugh off whatever hardships come on our way” as what the former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay said on his twitter post. But the problem with it is that because of having too much resilience, we tend to simply wait for the problems to pass instead of solving it entirely. One example situation for this is, when we encounter some natural disasters that are caused by human activities. Because of how much we are used to it, we just shrug it off as if it is not a big deal. “People have a tendency to look myopically at the future and be forgetful of the past,” Meyer said. “They have a vivid memory that a natural disaster like a hurricane or an earthquake has occurred in past, but they forget how it feels. The emotion of the event fades rapidly. Yet it is these emotions that trigger constructive actions.” And there, I started to believe that history does not repeat itself, people do. As we continue to practice complacency in the guise of resilience, we also continue to kill the place we supposed to treat as home. If I will talk about this in a political manner, I strongly believe that we can also associate the downside of resilience as one of the reasons that keep us, Filipinos, to seek accountability from the government and call for real solutions to the real problems.

Our planet is at breaking point. If we believe that we, humans, have every right to be on earth, we must be putting in our minds as well that we have the responsibility to preserve it. We have to learn to take care of where we live for there is no other place for us to go. We may suffer soon because of the planet’s irreversible damage but remember that Burke once said, “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

Planet Earth is the most unique planet that exists in the solar system, milky way galaxy, and among the whole universe that we know as of today. The prime reason for such declaration is that only Earth is habitable with its life-supporting atmosphere, water, soil, and natural resources. It is the home to several species of plants and animals, which means that the human race is not alone in the quest for survival. Mother Earth with all her flora and fauna are not present just to satiate men. The human race does not own any other biotic and abiotic components of the ecosystem. We are just simply another borrower of life who must thrive with them side by side without putting them into the brink of non-existence. It is true that there is hierarchy of life and we are on top of it, because we have the capacity to think rationally unlike the other species. However, this does not mean that we are the most important. We are actually ought to be the stewards of all living and non-living things through cherishing Mother Earth and not continuing to be the cause of her perishing.

It is not just all humanity that is in the grip of a global crisis, rather it is the planet that faces near oblivion. The once colorful paradise we used to live in is now reduced to a gloomy state that is almost black and white due to air, land, and water pollution. The natural boon of our haven turned to gruesome bane accumulating from global warming, climate change, and ozone depletion that trigger detrimental diseases even unknown before, apart from the fact that bodies of water are already rising and land masses are sinking. Plant and animal life continues to plow downhill as loss of biodiversity, coral bleaching, forest and mangrove destruction are worsened by men's indifference to other creatures. After all of these, population growth is still ballooning and if mankind of today does not halt in their planet-killing antics, nothing will be left for the future generations.

As a young student who is in the field of Political Science, I pledge allegiance to the Earth. I will be the catalyst of change in my own simple ways such as lessening my plastic use and carbon emissions by utilizing alternative materials and systems. Then, when I grow up and pursue my career, I will push vital transformations in the Philippines through supporting and implementing environmental advocacies and laws. If Costa Rica can aim to be a carbon neutral country, all nations worldwide can also follow the pursuit and Mother Earth can finally breathe in relief. We must always remember that the Earth was uniquely given to us, it is a blessing that we have to take care of. The whole of mankind must reinvent its ways to live longer, healthier, and happier. If not, then we all must endure the grave consequences of Mother Earth's wrath.

In the last 200 years of human existence we have successfully created one of the greatest man-made disasters in all of human history. It is thru processes such as industrialization and warranted abuse to our environment that we have reached this point in our world. With events such as mass extinctions, increasing temperature, stronger typhoons, and other grave natural disasters, occurring frequently and ferociously in the recent 20 years.

It is in our technologically advanced world wherein even if alternatives exist such as renewable energy, with governments both controlled and managing these monopolies of fossil fuels and plastic in our world, it serves them no incentive to support these alternatives in exchange for their own profit. As popular narratives persist that the responsibility for our environment is something that each individual should manage, and not governments or corporations whose careless management of their waste are what causes a large majority of the damage towards our environment.

The necessity to help our environment is not only an individual responsibility but an inter-sectional one. As all ethics have evolved from a singular premise that we are members of a community of interdependent parts, and should act for the sake of the rest whilst not only for individual gain.

The world is definitely way way older than us, these problems have been existing long before our parents were born yet it's still here and becoming more and more complicated each day. What are the things we did growing up to help in these problems? Did we care? When we finally did, was it enough? Was it too late? Can we still do something?

It's hard to admit that these problems have been ongoing for decades now however it's getting more complicated than it should be lessen as years go by, as if all of us are letting it, as if every single person is doing nothing regarding these. How many generations passed? No improvement.

I grew up doing the little things I quite don't like until I realized its purposes. As a kid, I would just put wrappers, crampled papers anywhere and everytime my mother would see it, she'll talk to me and ask me to do the right thing. You won't believe she literally introduced me to the trash can maybe three or more times. Yes, growing up my mother would explain how badly we need to help with these problems since she has been working for DENR more than half of her life. In elementary until high school, all of us were tasked to make posters, slogans, interpretative dances, poems and so much more just to encourage everyone to save, protect and take care of our Mother Earth and to live it up, but personally, I never felt doing so much because it's getting worse, it's never enough. Not saying that I'm doing my best to help and others are not, what I'm trying to say is we've been addressing these problems for years yet it shows no improvement so it's another indication that we really have to do something collectively, altogether, we need to triple our efforts.

May reading notes, articles and other writings like this will continue to open up eyes and mind to do something about issues concerning the planet where we're living, it may seem too late but let's believe that when we all of us do all the efforts we can to preserve what we still have, we still can, for our own future.

      Planets die, so do you.

And whether you like it or the next generations don't, the fate of Earth will meet its doom. Within the next billion years, the warming Sun will boil away our oceans, or maybe it will meet its destruction by falling into a star. Either way, mourn not because our species would not be able to attend to its funeral.

Planets are depressingly suicidal. And we, humans, are the bullies and bystanders that catalyzes its death and our death as well.

Contrary to what humanity is trying to make themselves believe, they are not just the 'planet killers' but the accomplices to the gruesome mass extinction of their species and biome as well.

And this massacre is irreversible. As depressing as it sounds, this article shows how grave the humanity has come in killing themselves because the truth is, when all life on Earth perish, the Earth will not need anybody to pay for rent because it can live without hosting any form of life.

Our home lives until the next billion years, with or without the bloodline of the murderers that will probably last for just the next hundred years and lived their life believing that they are killing their home, continues to do it, and die in the end as the Earth strive.

Since time immemorial, the environmental crisis as a whole has been an underlying phenomenon that’s slowly changing the planet. If we compare our planet’s state today from its state decades or centuries ago, we can observe that it’s become hotter, more unpredictable, more undiversified, and more damaged. According to NASA, 800,000 years ago the CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) level was just around 180 million. Now, it is at an alarming 420 million, increasing by 234%. CO2 belongs to the group of Greenhouse Gases, which are described as gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect by absorbing infrared radiation ergo causing an unimaginable spike to the Earth’s overall temperature (global warming) and later on, to climate change. Other example of commonly emitted Greenhouse Gas is the CFCs or Chlorofluorocarbons which are commonly found in household materials or appliances such as aerosol sprays, foams and packing materials, solvents, and refrigerants (refrigerators). Another problem we’re facing is the extinction and endangerment of numerous species of flora and fauna which are vital in keeping the equilibrium in our ecosystem and biodiversity. Losing one or few species may have caused minimal or unseen effects but losing over 100 to 1,000 species per million per year (according to the National Geographic Channel) would imminently leave the Earth’s ecosystem imbalanced. If we think the numbers are already painful, there is something much more. These extinctions are mostly due to human-caused habitat destruction and climate change.

The things I’ve addressed in the first paragraph are probably just a zilch in the tip of the iceberg. There are hundreds of environmental problems and crises that need to be addressed before it’s too late. Being the only species that has the ability to discern, feel emotions, think critically, and understand, we must act as the stewards of the planet and protect and sustain it just like how it provided for us for millions of years. But, as much as we care to admit, we are the ones that benefitted most and yet ironically ruined the Earth the most too. Although, we do acknowledge this fact but the sad part is, most of us don’t care nor don’t know enough to do something about it. And I realized that we human beings and our passiveness are the biggest catalysts of environmental crises. It saddens me that it has been hypothesized by many scientists that our time to save the Earth is numbered and that our species, along with thousands of others, are in imminent danger yet a lot of us don’t seem to be bothered or shaken by this. It baffles me, whether or not people are aware of this, they just choose to not care at all. We human beings must realize that we are the only ones who can reverse the damage we did to Mother Earth. We must be selfless enough to care and start acting. We must educate people about environmental crises and disseminate the message. Any volition towards change and addressing the very real environmental problems, big or small, can contribute to the betterment and restoration of Mother Earth. We must put the interest of Mother Earth’s besides our because she’s our one and only option for inhabitation. All of us want a bright future and an even brighter future for the generations after us, but how can the future be bright if the only planet that can support our lives is losing its light?

Our planet Earth is in the brink of its downfall. The moment we get out of the house, there are several heartbreaking sites to see—numerous garbage or waste matters found along the sidewalks, opening burning of solid wastes, squatting in open dumps and landfills, and loss of plants and trees. We live in the 21st century wherein large scale number of infrastructures are found, thus, plenty agricultural lands have been converted for commercial use. Philippines is in the process of achieving its globalization, but for a country to be economically progressed, does our environment have to suffer? How many plants are yet to be destroyed? How many animals are yet to be extinct? How many years will it take us to realize that the Earth is slowly dying?

Since 1970s, our crisis to our environment are highly increasing. We inhabitants of the Earth are responsible for the damage that we have caused. We became too abusive to the point of forgetting and neglecting the welfare of our environment. We could possibly die for the wrong actions we’ve committed because we are currently facing and experiencing global warming that greatly affects the consequences we have done. Our environment has a solely purpose for us: to provide the needs of human beings. We fully exercise our rights as a human, but what about the welfare of our environment? We should start to take the action now because the time is already up. We don’t have to be an environmentalist to take care of our surroundings. We humans must come hand-in-hand in facing this huge problem, because in the first place we are the ones who account to this crisis.

Our Mother Earth is the provider of everything that any organism, specie, and creature needs. She is the home of every living thing, smallest to biggest, and a place where everything is nurtured. She have given everything to her people yet what she received in return was a disaster. Environmental crisis are spreading hideously, from the cities to rural's and it will never stop spreading. Yes, it will never stop if we doesn't make a move to change the system. We need to work together to make a movement that will make the planet better than ever. This is our responsibility because the climate will not be changing, the planet will not be warming, the air, water, and land will be clean and healthy if it wasn't because of us people who polluted the air, water and the land till it gets destroyed. Now what we have in return are floods, typhoons, tsunamis, polluted air, water and land that will eventually make every thing extinct, and a dying planet.

I will not be surprised if the lands will vanish and the seas will dry, it is because of us, the cause of this environmental crisis are all man made. This is why we should think of changing, starting from ourselves and on our way of living and from that we will start to influence other people and encourage them for a change, with that everything will follow. Earth is our home, we are the one who's running the Earth, we are the one who is responsible, we should care, we should love, we should save this planet before this planet turn us all to dust. We are humans, we should act like one.

Environmental conflict is one of the most important issues that we should focus on, yet, it is one of the most underrated as well. People perceive environment (grasslands, water, air, and other parts if the planet that we need in order to survive) as something that is endless in its amount, and will be forever ever present, which, without a doubt, a false hypothesis.

Our ozone layer is significantly depleting, our ices are melting - which resulted for some animals to be compromised, and pollution is rampant together with its negative effect to both the health of the people and other living organisms. The thing is, sustainability is a process, and doesn't happen overnight. We have to correct the ways us people do that are strongly harming our surrounding. We desperately need to change, be strict with the law for the conservation of the environment, and basically think of ourselves as not superior to any other organism that nature provides, and that aside from benefiting from them and using them as resources for survival and advancement for inventions, we are responsible for its sustainability and for the certainty of the future of the next generation.

Political Scientists, on the other hand, should intervene in a sense that we have to understand that everything is political, and as people who have the privilege to attain knowledge about how the political system and power work, we have to make sure we raise the seriousness of environmental crisis, and that failure to do so will not just harm the nature per se, also, it will have a domino effect on the economic or cultural aspect of the society. Of course, having the ability to understand is just one thing, we also have to execute laws and examine the proper regulations that will really help our dying environment rise from its grave.

Last year we've conducted an ecological investigation on the floral diversity of the lakeshore ecotone of Laguna de Bay, Muntinlupa City area. We spent two months surveying, analyzing, testing, and studying plants in the transition area between the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem. I've witnessed the gruesome state of our environment. Our study concluded that the floral diversity of the lakeshore ecotone of Laguna de Bay was very low. This current status was linked with the frequent or intense man-made disturbances such as waste mismanagement, reclamation, and overfishing in the lake.

Laguna de Bay was just one of the victim of the global environmental crisis. Looking into reality, we cannot even curve the totality of this looming catastrophe. But, it doesn't mean we don't need to act. I am suggesting to start our action in Laguna de Bay. It was the largest lake in our country and its importance to the economy of its surrounding municipalities and cities. Reviving Laguna de Bay means defeating environmental crisis.

Sadly, life really is in the grip of a global crisis. Our beloved Mother Earth is threatened, by everything humans work on. Industrialization is one cause of global crisis, for companies, markets, and businesses create products using raw materials that causes destruction of our environment. No matter how hard environmentalists work on to eliminate harmful acts in our environment, we cannot stop global crisis. Burning of fossil fuels, using of plastics, mining, and other environmentally harmful acts became part of man’s life, and somehow people forgot that it’s nature’s possessions.

Let’s just take a look at everything we have, our gadgets, clothes, infrastructures, appliances, beauty products, even our daily needs, we our trapped, and as industrial production progresses, our environment is in danger.

In this article, Ozone Depletion impacts me the most. Based on my experience, rainy season gets colder, and summer season gets hotter each year, and this experience is the very evidence of climate change. As per Rebecca Lindsey, and LuAnn Dahlman each new year becomes one of the top 10 warmest on record.

Red flags of Environmental crisis are present in our everyday life. We experience them everyday that we tend to not notice them, they are being normalized because of their everyday existence. As part of the lower stratum of our society, they confined us with the notion that we are too powerless to do something for our environment, that the responsibility to take some action regarding these environmental crises are in the hands of those with authority but as environmental crises started to boom, they begin to put the blame on ordinary people for not caring about the environment.

It is very easy to be ignorant regarding these matters but today, IGNORANCE ISN'T BLISS because no matter how you escape it, the effects of environmental crises are inescapable and inevitable, you don't get to choose what to experience and what to not and that's a great indication for us to move and make some action regarding these booming environmental crises. The absorption of knowledge about these matters are easy, it is only up to us if we're gonna use those knowledge to uplift and help our Earth or to put down our Earth even more because of our worldly wants.

The inescapable diversity and scarcity are indicators that politics is inevitable and as a future political scientist, we should use our growing expertise to indulge ourselves with these kinds of matter.

We always dream of a paradise but our very own actions are paradox of that dream. Do we want our generation to be define as a generation who took no measure to these problem? Let's ACT before it's too late.

For decades, climate change has been a serious, critical issue--and for decades, people haven't been paying attention.

Climate change, according to journalist and environmentalist Bill McKibben, is a problem that requires a 'World War II scale mobilization' to be eradicated; but, very much unlike World War II, the people and the different governments around the world seems to be negligent about it. Just recently, the United States has withdrawn from the Paris Climate Change Agreement; this may have some serious consequences on our planet, since, according to Carbon Brief, the US has been contributing to global warming more than any other nation. Dating back to the 1750's, their carbon emissions have amounted to a total of 397 gigatons (GT). 1 GT=1 trillion kilograms, so just imagine how much carbon dioxide that is!

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, global carbon pollution must be cut in half by 2030 and must be completely reduced to net zero by 2050 so the world wouldn't suffer the direst consequences of climate change. If we fail, coastal cities will be drowned, storms will worsen, and snow caps in the arctic will be non-existent during the summer--among other things at stake. In fact, even if you're not paying attention, you're actually experiencing the effects of climate change. Summers in the Philippines, according to PAGASA, are hotter; not to mention we'd be experiencing heavier rainfalls during the upcoming rainy season.

On the bright side of things, just last year, NASA reported that the ozone hole is closing up. This obviously doesn't mean that we've won the war against climate change, but it definitely means that there's still hope for all of us--we can save the planet if we just made a conscious effort to do so. This doesn't mean that the blame on global warming and climate change resides on the hands of people and we should all make our own, individual efforts to save the planet--although, cumulatively, our carbon consumption may have had its impact on the problem, climate change is a global-scale threat that needs global-scale solutions. The problem is mainly caused by the carbon emissions coming from big corporations. In a report by the Carbon Majors Database in 2017, it was discovered that 100 fossil fuel producers caused 71 % of global emissions--which is a total of nearly a trillion tonnes of greenhouse gas--since 1988. Compelling the people to reduce carbon usage, essentially, is victim-blaming because these large corporations are the ones at fault.

We won't be able to put an end to climate change if we don't come up with a solution that addresses the problems caused by big corporations, because individual solutions isn't sufficient to solve a problem that affects the whole planet. More importantly, we won't be able to win the war against climate change if we fail to recognize it.

Had I not been reading news articles, I wouldn’t really notice that we are undergoing through crises. I guess the same could be said for the people who do not believe that Climate Change exists, but I cannot really blame them because there are different factors that shape their views to be that way. As human beings, we naturally choose to believe the things that would favor us. Moreover, distinguishing such environmental issues is hard because we are constantly blinded by many mundane and trivial things.

My concept of a developed society is one wherein sustainability is prioritized, where people do things not only for their own benefit. To achieve this, I think we all need a change of perspective as much as a change in lifestyle because changing how you see things is harder than faking a lifestyle. We could easily change the products we use to eco-friendly ones, but somewhere in this process, we could still potentially slip and somehow make matters worse. An example would be switching to metal straws instead of single-use plastic ones; we may see this positively, but plastic straws aren’t really the problem, are they? Our problem is how we dispose of them, so switching to straws wouldn’t really be the best answer especially now that they are being overly capitalized. This is where a new perspective comes to play; even if you switch to metal straws, as long as you’re continuously buying more of it, it wouldn’t really matter because it defeats the purpose of using a reusable.

As life becomes more fast-paced, we tend to choose convenience over sustainability; we use products that would make our lives easier. I’m not saying that this is wrong; however, such ways are obviously harmful for the environment. We are so busy with easing our lives that we forget to think of the consequences. We try to keep up with the pace of development up to the point where miss what’s happening around us. I think it’s time that we stop for a while and think long-term rather than short-term.

      "BAHA KA LANG FILIPINO KAMI"

With a quote such as this, the blood that is coursing through all Filipinos' veins has been fired up to such degree, they will shout "Filipino pride!" due to the adrenaline. Filipinos tend to be courageous, strong and determined. Surely, a flood is nothing to our tenacity because of our dauntlessness, right? Wrong.

The flood, tsunamis, earthquakes, and/or any calamities that had and will befall upon us does not have the ability to define who's courageous, positive and tenacious. We must understand that these calamities are a serious matter. It is not a test of courage, tenacity or a trial. It is nothing but a warning.

Without a doubt, we portrait the traits I am discussing. After all, it is what defines us. But we should not still treat any catastrophic events such as floods (which is prevalent in the Philippines) as a "lang". We should be afraid, be cautious and be wary. We should prevent rather than cure. Most importantly, we should not just know, but to understand.

Courage does not mean being shrouded by optimism amidst a cruel cataclysm. Courage means vigilant on your fear and defeating it head-on.

Nowadays, it is truly evident that our planet is facing such a big predicament. Even in a smaller scale, you'll see that there are many things that need attention. When you just look around your surroundings, it's impossible to not see a single waste like a candy wrapper that is not properly placed in the trash can. If we are not going to do anything now, we might slowly lose the world we're currently living in, the world that was once filled with beauty.

Over the years, humans have focused on developing various inventions and technology in order to make it easier for us to accomplish most of our tasks in a daily basis. It is undeniable how this kind of innovation has helped our society in many ways but we probably forgot that our resources from the nature is limited - and we have neglected them, used to the point of a abusing them and destroyed them. We wished to have things that can make this world a better place yet we also have to pay the price for these things can also cause danger not only to us humans but to our environment. We need to remind ourselves that humans are not the only ones who are living in this planet, there are so many wonderful creatures that seek our care and protection.

Due to most of the products that humans have produced, our very protection from the harmful UV radiation is getting damaged and is expected to have 10% of it being depleted by the year 2050.

At this point, we are already witnessing how our environment is suffering from all the damages we created. Are we going to do something when it's already too late?

The process may be hard to execute but if we have the will, we can succeed.

On early March 2019, numerous areas across Metro Manila, estimated to be 52,000 households by Manila Water, began to experience water scarcity. Manila Water COO Geodino Carpio cited the delay of water infrastructure projects, such as the constructions of a wastewater treatment plant in Cardona, Rizal and the Kaliwa Dam in Tanay, Rizal, for the issue. Manila Water also noted the critically low levels of the reservoir held by La Mesa Dam, its lowest level in 12 years, which the company relies on as their emergency supply of water source.

The 2019 Metro Manila water crisis forced the Duterte administration to grab the loan from China. Metro Manila’s water shortage suprised Manilenos - which should not have been a surprise at all - the Duterte government presented to the people a timely if convenient solution: the New Centennial Water Source-Kaliwa Dam Project.

      BUILDING MORE DAMS THE ANSWER?

Building dam-and-reservoir systems has greatly increased water supplies in some areas, but has also disrupted ecosystems and displaced people.

SO HOW CAN WE USE WATER MORE SUSTAINABLY?

Cutting the waste of water is almost always quicker and less costly than trying to provide new supplies of water, except in cases where governments subsidize water supply systems, which makes water prices artificially low. In this view we can deduced that:

We can use water more sustainably by cutting water waste, raising water prices, slowing population growth, and protecting aquifers, forests, and other ecosystems that store and release water.

Instead of building more dams, sustaining ecosystems would be more eco-friendly.

Last summer, a severed head of a prehistoric wolf was found preserved beneath the frozen ground of Syberia. The head was said to be around 40,000 years-old. This only shows how global warming melts a large and thick portion of ice in the polar regions. And as undeniable as it is, humans are the one responsible for this. We are destroying our own habitat. We are all contributing to the drastic changes we are witnessing today. Smoking cigarette, for an instance, is highly connected with the climate change we are facing today. According to one article published last October 2018 by Tom Batchelor, there are approximately six trillion manufactured cigarettes annually for one billion smokers worldwide. This production emits 84 million tons of carbon dioxide to climate change, equivalent to 0.2 in global total. These datas show that even a simple human activity can contribute to the destruction or our own planet, the blame is indeed, on each and every one of us, not just on those illegal miners, oil companies and nuclear power plants.

As a political science student, I believe that finding a solution for a global crisis is as equally important as recognizing it. Thus, I am continuously studying and researching in hope to find the best solution and proper action to solve this crisis without sacrificing both the world's economy and our planet Earth.

Environmental crisis equally equates with the survival of the Humanity. Everyone is concerned with its degree of domino effect. If one perishes, the rest will follow, and no exemption will be given to anyone.

To put it bluntly, no one shall be called out to take the blame except the humanity. It is our lack of contentment that has brought us this far. It is our unmanageable desire to reach the limits that has collapsed the maximum tolerance of the world. Yes, it is us who have stretched this world to its breaking point.

Little did the humanity know, they are being put at peril while the domineering corner of the world is in hot pursuit to push for the "progress". Especially the third world countries, the ecology becomes the collateral damage of this massive leap of humanity. If this story wouldn't be turned otherwise, the doomsday is fastened, and its existence is close to possible.

This natural resources are given for one main reason, to sustain life and provide harmony. It is an innate responsibility of our nature to provide necessary raw materials for our living. But alongside it is our complementary role to imbibe the sense of moderation. Everyone has to accept that this world survives in a two-way rule.If you go against it, might as well expect nothing but a natural backfire.

But affliate to this conviniency, with the people who were developing such to make our lives easier are laso the one who emits different gases are bringing the negative effects that has really a huge effect in our mother Earth.

And as the time passes by, we could really feel that Earth is getting warmer or the thing we called global warming that is literally because of the human activities . Climate change, depletion of the ozone layer, greenhouse effect etc. that affects every biotic and abiotic elements of the Earth. And this issue is still not changing because of us humans who were eagerly wanting to be self-developed without thinking on what will be the results of our actions. And as this case still happens, it really affects everyone's lives, health, livelihood, plants which includes the trees and habitats, animals and more disasters are happening today. Wild fires, heavy rain, floods, storms, huricane etc. Negative health issues were also brought by global warming, bringing diseases by everyone who were affected mostly. Lost of species, different kind of animals, forest destruction, coral bleaching and destructions.

Global warming is really the one who's gonna break everything apart, and we do not want this to happen to the next generations of people. One of the key concerns in environmental crisis is the climate change. The climate change occurs as a result of anthropogenic factors, mainly greenhouse gasses pollution. Modern technological processes rely heavily on burning fossil fuels at factories, agricultural facilities, and pastorals. Human factor also contributes to the destruction of green forests, which results in flooding, poor quality of the air and disruption of the natural ecological systems. The observable results of the climate change are the changes in global mean surface temperature, ocean circulation, sea level, species distribution, and precipitation patterns.

Global warming can cause fast destruction of our planet. That happening now, like climate change. Climate change a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onward and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. To prevent this global warming we need to responsible to our environment like cutting trees, cutting trees can cause flooding to low area and the smoke coming from the vehicle and the factory.

It has been truly a tough challenge for our mother earth to face as such like the environmental crisis. We all know that we depend on our environment for almost anything we have. And the fact that it is being destructed will bring back a huge impact on us. Every one of us have a responsibility to take good care of our Mother Earth even in our own simple ways. If every one of us do something for our earth, it will be a big help.

As far as we know, Earth is the only planet that has life. And Earth is the most beautiful planet in our solar system, before. Because before man had a good relationship with mother nature until man developed different things, and most modern lifestyle has changed. Until our environment is totally polluted and because of that we are now suffering from diseases.

Climate change is not the cause of its increasing numbers we are the ones to blame for the irregular weather patterns that have been changing in dramatic ways. But its never too late to make things better. Always remember that the only constant thing in this world is change. We can change everything but dont just say instead act because action speaks louder than words.

Industrialization has led to urbanization. The migration of rural population to the cities in search of work has created an unhealthy environment. It has led to overcrowding and establishment of slum areas. Towns and cities are full of smoke ,fumes dirt dust rubbish gases foul smell and noise.

The first and most important cause of pollution is the growing population. The earth is now crowded with people, and all of them consume resources and create wastes. If the per capita amounts of pollutants and wastes were to remain constant, the residue loading of the environment would rise precisely in relation to the growth of population. This is acceptable within certain limits, given the capacity of air, water and land to absorb, dilute, carry away and otherwise render pollutants harmless. But, unfortunately, in many places these limits have either been reached or have been exceeded.

Environmental choices must be guided by a vision of a desirable human society and of the quality of the natural environment needed to support that vision.

The over consumption of resources and creation of plastics are creating a global crisis of waste disposal. Developed countries are notorious for producing an excessive amount of waste or garbage and dumping their waste in the oceans and, less developed countries. Nuclear waste disposal has tremendous health hazards associated with it. Plastic, fast food, packaging and cheap electronic wastes threaten the well being of humans. Waste disposal is one of urgent current environmental problem.

Global Warming. Climate Change. It's all true. It's happening now. Sadly, the home of our ancestors is now in a journey of destruction. Because of us. Why us? There are so many reasons but I'll just give some. These are, throwing garbages on the ocean or in the street, illegal logging, cigarette smoking, and throwing chemical residues to bodies of water. Because of these, mother earth is now enraged, giving us stronger storms we can't possibly imagine, eruptions of volcanoes, and massive earthquakes. Now, i realized that what we do to nature will come back to us nth times greater. Nature-made? I don't think so. For me, they are all man-made. Because of us.

As a nurse, i must educate others that an uncleaned environment is one of the factors why we get diseases. Throwing garbages on its right container decreases the rate of us getting illness and it can greatly help mother nature and make our world a better place to live in.

Before reading this article, I can say I had a very minimal knowledge of what is really going on in the world that we live in. The world now compared to the world before is very different. It's as if we can say that if our dearest Mother Earth will be compared to a human being, it's as if Mother Earth is a worn out mom with a 2 dozen kids. She is tired, she is forgotten, she is sick. We, her kids have forgotten to take care of her and we all took her for granted. If we keep on going with this kind of attitude, our future generation won't be able to witness the beauty that is still left in our world. We cannot anymore bring back what was lost and what was damaged. All we can do now, is preserve what we have left and start to build what we can.

Mother Earth has produced and nurtured all life since the beginning of time. She has provided us with a natural environment of bracing wind and breathable air, magical forests and edible plants, poetic blue oceans and sea and potable water, dreamful rainbows and nourishing rains, storybook streams and irrigating rivers, picturesque landscapes and arable bands, dazzling flowers and delicious fruits.Global Warming is the increase of Earth's average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. This is a type of greenhouse effect. The most significant greenhouse gas is actually water vapor, not something produced directly by humankind in significant amounts. However, even slight increases in atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) can cause a substantial increase in temperature.

Why is this? There are two reasons: First, although the concentrations of these gases are not nearly as large as that of oxygen and nitrogen (the main constituents of the atmosphere), neither oxygen or nitrogen are greenhouse gases. This is because neither has more than two atoms per molecule (i.e. their molecular forms are O2 and N2, respectively), and so they lack the internal vibrational modes that molecules with more than two atoms have. Both water and CO2, for example, have these "internal vibrational modes", and these vibrational modes can absorb and reradiate infrared radiation, which causes the greenhouse effect.

Secondly, CO2 tends to remain in the atmosphere for a very long time (time scales in the hundreds of years). Water vapor, on the other hand, can easily condense or evaporate, depending on local conditions. Water vapor levels therefore tend to adjust quickly to the prevailing conditions, such that the energy flows from the Sun and re-radiation from the Earth achieve a balance. CO2 tends to remain fairly constant and therefore behave as a controlling factor, rather than a reacting factor. More CO2 means that the balance occurs at higher temperatures and water vapor levels.

There is nothing permanent in this world except change as what our world is experiencing right now. The planet is heating up and fast. Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are dying, and wildlife is scrambling to keep pace. It's becoming clear that humans have caused most of the past century's warming by releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. Called greenhouse gases, their levels are higher now than in the last 650,000 years.

We call the result global warming, but it is causing a set of changes to the Earth's climate, or long-term weather patterns, that varies from place to place. As the Earth spins each day, the new heat swirls with it, picking up moisture over the oceans, rising here, settling there. It's changing the rhythms of climate that all living things have come to rely upon.

Environmental protection is a practice of protecting the natural environment on individual, organizational or governmental levels, for the benefit of both the environment and humans. Environmentalism, a social and environmental movement, addresses environmental issues through advocacy, education and activism. Environment destruction caused by humans is a global problem, and this is a problem that is on going every day. We’ve started. But in order to avoid the worst effects of climate change, we need to do a lot more together with other countries to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and start using clean energy instead. In 2015, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency pledged to reduce carbon pollution from our power plants by nearly a third by 2030, relative to 2005 levels, through its Clean Power Plan. The U.S. Department of Transportation has proposed carbon pollution and fuel economy standards that should cut emissions through the 2020s. Chemicals that contribute to global warming, like hydrofluorocarbons (used in air conditioners), are being phased out of production nationwide, and so are energy-inefficient household items like incandescent lightbulbs. Also in 2015, solar and wind power provided more than 5 percent of the United States’ electricity for the first time, and construction started on the country’s first offshore wind power project. Globally, at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Paris, 195 countries including the United States agreed to pollution-cutting provisions with a goal of preventing the average global temperature from rising more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial times. Scientists say we must stay below a two-degree increase to avoid catastrophic climate impacts. To help make the deal happen, the Obama administration pledged $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund, an international organization dedicated to helping poor countries adopt cleaner energy technologies. Under the terms of the Paris agreement, participating nations will meet every five years, starting in 2020, to revise their plans for cutting CO2 emissions. Beginning in 2023, they will also have to publicly report their progress

The world is getting hotter, and humans are responsible. It's very alarming that our world is slowly becoming a hot world for everyone. The climate change negotiations are a never-ending process and it is about remolding society and changing the global economy. Scientists have also noted that glaciers and ice sheets around the world are melting. Satellite observations since the 1970s have shown warming in the lower atmosphere. There's more heat in the ocean, causing water to expand and sea levels to rise. Plants are flowering earlier in many parts of the world. There's more humidity in the atmosphere. Global warming will have an impact in the future by hotter temperature, high sea-level rise, heat waves, droughts and floods, hurricanes, heavier storm surges, agriculture, and long-term changes.

Global warming refers to an average increase in the Earth's atmosphere primarily due to the so called "greenhouse effect". The destruction of the ozone layer in the atmosphere and the global greenhouse effect contribute in the occurrence of this phenomenon. There will be heavier rainfall in already heavy rainfall months and lower rainfall during dry months.

Climate change is the long-term average of a region's weather events lumped together. There are some effects of greenhouse gases and global warming: melting of ice caps, rising sea levels, change in climatic patterns, spread diseases, economic consequences, increased droughts and heat waves. Other effects are bleaching of coral reefs, El Nino and La Nina phenomenon.

As a future teacher, I want to teach my students the proper segregation of waste, the important of planting trees, unplug the unused appliances. Small things like this can help to prevent this so called global warming.

Concepts regarding the environment and aesthetic preferences are studied and represented in behavioral maps. Environment influences behavior at different levels. Immediate behavior is a function of the setting in which it occurs. The personality make-up of people of a country is shaped by the nature and type of environment in which they live. In unnatural or caged conditions animals show `behavior starvation' and their behavior breaks down. Population stress and the artificial character of urban conditions are supposed to be the reasons for the increased rates of crime and incidence of mental disorders of people living in urban areas. Applied Environmental Psychology attempts to provide norms for better management of the environment for better life and personality development. It studies effective ways of promoting conservation of the natural environment and better ways of designing buildings, towns and cities, taking into consideration the behavioral needs and responses of people.

The environmental crisis we face today is both a nightmare and a tragedy. Reading this hub made me realize even more that the Earth we live in, we have taken for granted for so long, and even up to this day we don't seem to fully comprehend the importance of Earth to every living being. It is a nightmare because a day will come that Earth may not exist anymore because of the selfish human beings inhabiting this planet, it may not be tomorrow or next week but that day will sure come. I am deeply sorry for our Mother Earth, she deserves better treatment from us, people have become so arrogant that they often forget that Earth does not need us as much as we need her. We have abused her, tortured her, used her! I hate that we have to live this nightmare everyday, pretending everything is alright.

It is indeed a tragedy, to live in such a cruel world. To witness our very own home be abused, tortured and used without second thoughts. To live in this day witnessing the suffering our Mother Earth experiences everyday, it's heartbreaking and i weep for her. But it doesn't have to stay tragic and a nightmare, we can still do something. If every single human being will do something and contribute to make our Earth healthier and better, we might still have a chance on saving her. We can still do it.

We must make action now or else, we will lose everything.

As a Psychology student, it is my duty to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for my patients, and every human being. And I will do so by contributing in my own ways.

The world is facing a very serious environmental crisis. Key environmental problems include air pollution, the destruction of the ozone layer, vast quantities of toxic waste, massive levels of soil erosion, the possible exhaustion of key natural resources such as oil and coal, and the extinction of plants and animals on a scale not seen since the death of the dinosaurs 60 million years ago.

People suffer because of the environmental crisis and as an accountancy student we should have the knowledge about this topic so that we will know what to provide for the consumers or buyers related to the crisis.

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" - Genesis 1:1

We may not have witnessed the creation of Mother Earth but God forbid that we will be the ones to end her.

The Earth have inhabited many magnificent organisms and continues to do so, including of course the mankind. Humanity is the smartest occupants in the planet yet we are the most destructive ones. We inflict damages in our own home for our own gains without minding of its side effects. Climate change was caused by man's ignorance and now we are in the face of danger because of it along with the whole sphere. It is a global dilemma which can only be solved by the whole human race around the globe. An attempt to change the earth, not for the worse but for the better, requires a great effort of unity and environmental awareness.

The power of saving our home is in our hands and in order for us to see the light of bright future, then we must defeat the obstacle of Global Warming and Climate Change to clear up the skies form dark clouds.

As God created the Planet Earth where we all live today. We continue to evolve and grow old and as time passes by, generation, decades, centuries, more and more people were born and live. But a sad truth that because of the intelligence of a human being continues to expand until we need resources to conduct experiments and improvements for our daily lives. But people forgot to repay of what our planet gave us. We forgot to take care of our mother nature which results to slowly killing us and now Global Warming pose a serious threat that would affect our lives and the next generation of people. Because of all that we have done we are making our world uninhabitable and we are destroying what life can bring by our planet. That is why as an accounting student. I can relate how I did my part on a job can affect the company. Just like how a human being did something wrong, it affects our nature.

Climate change is a serious problem that can cause other problems. It can destroy our little by little. The increasing of temperature we're encountering right now is one of the sign that global warming is starting. "We can't stop it, but we can prevent it", this quotation shows that if we will change for the better, there is a very big possibility that this problem can stop. So as a psychology student, I want to know the reason or the psychology behind those people whom do not care about this global issue.

Through time mother earth continues to mesmerize us with her beauty. She is became the source of life of all humanity billion of years ago. But today because of our unfaithfulness and cruelty to our world. Her capability to provide becomes alarming. Global warming and climate change is now evident in our environment. Ozone depletion is caused because of the chlorofluorocarbons that penetrates the ozone layer that causes it to deplete. Pollution and habitat destructions are very visible due to our negligence and poor law enforcement. Different kinds of pollution is all caused by humans because of our carelessness in our environment in a point of time these pollution will affect us all. Forest destructions affects our biodiversity by making an organism extinct. We are making our world uninhabitable and we are destroying what life can bring by our planet. As an accountant, our skills and knowledge can be the source of life in a company. We provide the accounting needs of a business by giving out the best services we can.

Earth is our home.Protecting the Earth is like protecting our own home.this is where we live, breathe, eat etc.everyone loves it but takes it for granted just like what we do to our parents. our mother earth is really in trouble now and if we don't pay attention to this, it's not only Her who will suffer but mostly all of us. so we really need to do something about it. we are responsible for the environment we live in as well as the environment we will pass on to the next generations. plant a tree, walk instead of drive, wear a sweat shirt instead of turning on the aircon, and use a re-usable water bottle. so that it wouldn't contribute to global warming. beacuse every little thing helps. and all of us can make a difference. this is really important for us to sudy for it is a serious matter. if we don't pay attention to this impact of climate change, then how are we going to handle business. as accountants, we must be liable for the mistakes we've made(much better if there is no ane) and know waht it's consequences. if not, then our company will suffer and we will be ones who will be affected most.

It has been truly a tough challenge for our mother earth to face as such like the environmental crisis. We all know that we depend on our environment for almost anything we have. And the fact that it is being destructed will bring back a huge impact on us. As Leonardo Dicaprio said “We are facing a tipping point of environmental crisis unprecedented in human history and our survival is dependent on protecting nature.” If we do not act now, it will be our loss. Let us help mother earth get through this crisis she is facing. Let us wipe off the tears that she had and show her true beauty once more by taking good care of her like how she took good care of all of us.

Our environment is a precious and delicate thing that we must protect and do our best to keep clean and healthy. It is in our own best interests to ensure that the air is clean, the land and water free of contaminates and toxins and that we strive to maintain environmental conditions that are as close to natural as possible. We should be protecting our planet from harm, not harming it by poisoning it with chemicals, toxins and other industrial pollutants. We only have one home, so why should we be so careless with it? What about our children and what about their children? What will their environment look and smell like?

And as an accountant, we should be aware what's happening around us or what are the changes happens.

Global problems affect the modern world. Today’s rapid changes have made countries more interdependent than ever before, shrinking the world into a global village. As the world grows smaller, events in any one area have a greater impact on other parts of the world. National borders do not limit the effects of pollution or environmental destruction. Even poverty in some areas affects other areas because of migration and its impact on the world economy. Three examples of global problems that affect the modern world are famine, pollution, and terrorism.

Only few countries are able to produce more food than their citizens need. For the rest of the world, hunger and malnutrition are common.

The global environmental crisis are the multiple forms of destruction leading to a possible collapse of the planetary ecosystem that supports life through global warming and other massive disruptions. Environmental crisis are global destruction of forests, world wide soil erosion, burning of fossil fuels, harming of forests and lakes, shrinking of fresh water, flooding of coastal areas, and massive extinction of species world wide and many more. These problems mentioned were just because of the wrong doing of us, humans. We should not let ourselves to just sit and watch our Earth to destroy. Earth is the most precious gift from our Lord God so we should take good care of it. Just like in a business, if something went wrong we should not let it be. We should do something to survive the business.

Reicee Ann P. Salvador BSA 1-4 Our environment is constantly changing. There is no denying that. However, as our environment changes, so does the need to become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it. With a massive influx of natural disasters, warming and cooling periods, different types of weather patterns and much more, people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is facing.

Global warming has become an undisputed fact about our current livelihoods; our planet is warming up and we are definitely part of the problem. However, this isn’t the only environmental problem that we should be concerned about. All across the world, people are facing a wealth of new and challenging environmental problems every day. Some of them are small and only affect a few ecosystems, but others are drastically changing the landscape of what we already know. We need to be aware of what we are doing, buying, using, and what it does to the environment. We need to save and protect our environment.

A major concern of people from all demographics and religions is the environmental crises are taking place in the US and all over the world today. Many aspects our daily lives in the capitalist society we live in are causing grave destruction to our planet. Issues such as global warming, bottling water, and the search for oil and fossil fuels are some of the most known environmental crises taking place in the US. I believe the US could in fact find safe, profitable solutions to many of these problems as long as it is willing to be proactive and address the serious issues at hand while they can be corrected. If the US does not step in and set regulation and new laws on the big businesses and individual citizens that are causing these crises, our environment as a whole will continue to suffer irreversible affects. One of the most serious and publicized environmental crises that is effecting our planet is global warming. Often naïvely brushed off and not recognized by people in charge of businesses that are adding to it, global warming is an extremely real and serious issue. Aside of that one of the main reason is the over population. An environmental crisis is an emergency concerned with the place in which every human lives - the environment. A people crisis is an emergency with the community that inhabits the world environment. A crisis of population growth is a turning point where the environment can no longer sustain the amounts ofpeople which it contains. A crisis of apathy and inaction is one where thehuman race cannot be motivated to solve the problems with the environment thatthey themselves have created.

Mother Earth is naturally beautiful and she provide everything for living organisms. But as the time goes by, she is fragile and getting destroyed because of the bad things that is happening. Global warming, climate change, ozone depletion, loss of biodiversity, water, air or any pollution, forest destruction, and corals and mangrove destruction bleaching are the situations that makes our mother Earth destroyed and losing her beauty. We need to know these because it will affect our future and our mother Earth.

All humanity is really in the grip of global environmental crisis. A problem derived by the entire human race and a problem that could only be solved with the cooperation of all. Wrought by humans, a changing climate brought about impacts that lead to economic damages, mass migrations and violent conflicts, aftermaths face by humans.

If we continue on our current path, pumping billions of tons of Carbon pollution into the atmosphere, we know we’ll trigger more of these harmful climate consequences eventually. Climate change is ultimately a risk management issue. The more Carbon pollution we pump into the atmosphere, the more we increase the risk of triggering dangerous and damaging climate changes.

We only have one Earth and one climate. Although it makes good for science fiction, we’re unlikely to have interstellar travel available in the next century. We won’t be able to solve the problem by maltreating the Earth and moving on to a new planet. To mitigate the risk associated with climate change, the solution is to consume less fossil fuel and pump less Carbon pollution into the atmosphere. It is because the more we reduce the consumption of what’s causing the problem, the better our chance of avoiding its dangerous consequences. How to manage business risks is the lesson that we could derive from this.

Our Mother Earth really needs our care. As an accountant, like what my accounting professor always said, you should be aware on your surrounding. Small thing or big things you should know what’s happening around you. In case of the global warming, not just for accountants but for all people, WE should be really really aware of it. This is the place where we live so we should take care of it. As an accountant you will have the voice to influence everybody on how we can help our Mother Earth. It is really a hard thing but as long as you will do it by your heart therefore nothing is impossible.

As what the Bible says, "God created first the heaven and the Earth". Earth is one of the precious gift that is given from us. For us to thank our Almighty God, we should take care of our Mother Earth. In the past decades, the Earth changed. From the green land into gray / blackish land. Why? Because of what people do in our Earth. Human activity is one the reasons why the Earth changed. People became miserable of doing bad things to Earth. Throw garbage here, throw garbage there. We don't even understand now the word 'respect and discipline' because of what we have done to our Earth. As a student and one of the future heroes of the society, we should know how to save the Mother Earth. By how? By knowing the importance of 3R's and planting more trees in the field. And if the people still continue this disgraceful things not only this generation will experience this but rather the future generation also.
