All Humanity Is in the Grip of a Global Environmental Crisis

It has been theorized that the true age of the earth is about 4.6 billion years old, which was formed at about the same time as the rest of what composes our solar system.

Origin of the Earth

Almost 5 billion years ago, a mass of earth, air, water and fire, brought together by cosmic forces, and small pieces of planet material interacted. It came to pass that the whirling object of elements and substances metamorphosed into the blue and green and brown creation we know as Planet Earth with all of nature is the Mother of us all.

Mother Earth is the source not only of life, but also of all beauty.
Mother Earth is the source not only of life, but also of all beauty.

Mother Earth

Mother Earth has produced and nurtured all life since the beginning of time. She has provided us with a natural environment of bracing wind and breathable air, magical forests and edible plants, poetic blue oceans and sea and potable water, dreamful rainbows and nourishing rains, storybook streams and irrigating rivers, picturesque landscapes and arable bands, dazzling flowers and delicious fruits.

Mother Earth is the source not only of life, but also of all beauty. Some make life not only possible and beautiful, but also filled with wonder and with meaning.

But Mother Earth is now in danger. Our life-giving planet is on the brink of the graves disaster she has ever been made to face.

What monstrous shape has this crisis taken?
What monstrous shape has this crisis taken?

Global Environmental Crisis

For many years, the threat of nuclear annihilation stared her down. Man's madness and propensity with war, produced weapons for mass destruction which could eventually wipe out most of humanity and much of nature, had they been used. The thawing of the Cold War between the USA and Soviet Union has given us temporary reprieve from the nightmare. But now, another threat to all forms of life has risen, and stalks all corners of the Earth.

This new horror, a great part of man-made, has been given a name as ominous as nuclear annihilation. The GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS.

Global warming is the global-average temperature increase that scientists and climatologists observed over the last one hundred years or more.

Climate change is an alteration in the average weather that a given region experiences.
Climate change is an alteration in the average weather that a given region experiences.

Global Warming and Climate Change

What are the issues involved when we talk about global environmental crisis?

These are global warming, climate change, ozone depletion, loss of biodiversity, water pollution, forest destruction, corals and mangrove destruction and coral bleaching, air pollution and population growth.

We are going through a critical phase of Global Warming as more and more carbon dioxide is being released into the higher atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuels. The atmospheric blanket absorbs and traps the heat of the sun like greenhouse, increasing the planet's temperature and creating the Greenhouse Effect.

Global warming is the global-average temperature increase that has been observed over the last one hundred years or more. But to many politicians and the public, the term carries the implication that mankind is responsible for that warming. More than half of the world's Nobel laureats and the National Academy of Sciences warned that global warming is the most serious environmental threat of the twenty-first century. The thermal heat expansion may result in a 3 to 5 foot rise in the sea level around the world that could swallow island nations and low-lying countries.

Climatologists, scientists and researchers believed that climate change is an alteration in the average weather which a particular region experiences. This change involves patterns of temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind and seasons on a global scale.

Changes due to a more frequent and severe storms, floods, and droughts and warmer temperatures, present threatening risks to the well-being and livelihoods of millions of people in the Third World countries or simply the poor people who depend on the land and coastal resources for their survival.

Researchers, climatologists and scientists considered climate change as one of the greatest social, economic and environmental threats of our time. Most of them said that it is a significant and lasting change in the statistical distribution of the weather patterns over periods ranging from decades to millions of years. According to them, it could be a change in the average weather conditions or in the distribution of weather around the average conditions. Climate change adverse impacts are already evident and may intensify over time.

Scientific evidences indicate that since 1950, the world's climate has been warming already, primarily due to emissions from unfettered burning of fossil fuels and the razing of tropical forests. The said adds to the atmosphere's invisible blanket of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping "greenhouse" gases. Recent researches found that methane flowing from landfills, livestock and oil and gas facilities, is a close second to carbon dioxide in terms of the impact on the atmosphere.

Ozone depletion
Ozone depletion

Ozone depletion

As a result of intemperate use of chlorofluorocarbons, our protective sky has literally been opened with giant hole in the atmospheric ozone layer which keeps out harmful ultraviolet radiation from the sun.

The chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs migrate to the upper portion of the atmosphere where they are broken down by the sun's rays, releasing the atoms of chlorine which destroy ozone.

According to the National Aeronuotics and Space Administration (NASA) predicted that there would be a 10% depletion of the ozone layer worldwide by 2050. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), also warned that the loss of ozone of the said magnitude would result in millions of cases of skin cancers from exposure to increased ultraviolet radiation.

Ozone depletion could lead to damage of the immune systems of animals and humans due to vulnerability to outbreaks of long- established diseases and pathogens. Likewise, plants, plankton would be heavily damaged by the ultraviolet radiation.

We derive our basic needs (food, shelter, and clothing, from the biological richness all around us.
We derive our basic needs (food, shelter, and clothing, from the biological richness all around us.
Biological diversity also provide us with medicine.
Biological diversity also provide us with medicine.

Loss of Biodiversity

The Biological Diversity of the planet is threatened as an increasing number of distinct kinds of plants and animals and microorganisms die out or become extinct with the destruction of their ecosystems and habitat.

The viability of humans is threatened too by the irretrievable loss of species, ecosystems, gene pools and ecological processes, since we derive from them practically all our needs such as food, clothing, shelter and. medicine.

Plants and animals provide us with aesthetic value in making the entire world so beautiful. They also provide us with a sense of familiarity, continuity and a sense of place which is so important in mainstreaming our sense of security in places where we are into.

Water pollution is causing harmful effects on all forms of aquatic life.
Water pollution is causing harmful effects on all forms of aquatic life.

Water pollution

Our seas, rivers, oceans and streams are already being polluted by all kinds of wastes, effluents, toxic chemicals and lately by massive oil spills with unfold harmful effects on oil forms of the aquatic life making up the freshwater and marine ecosystems)

Destruction of the world's forests is leading to a widespread desertification of the earth's soil and mass extinction of species.
Destruction of the world's forests is leading to a widespread desertification of the earth's soil and mass extinction of species.

Forest destruction

The forests are past being depleted with tragic consequences for the soil; in some places, soil erosion through wind or water does not stop. In others, desertification has already set in and continuously spreading.

Forest destruction is intimately related to the degradation of biological diversity. The forest ecosystems nurture avast variety of life forms which sustain life through food and herbal medicine.

Coral destruction
Coral destruction

Corals and mangrove destruction and coral bleaching

In tropical countries like the Philippines, the destruction of corals and mangroves which are the breeding grounds of fish and other aquatic life destroys not only the natural beauty of the environment but also the livelihood of millions of fisherman.

Air pollution and population growth

Finally, as if to dramatize the pall of doom that looms over the planet, the grimy shroud of air pollution hovers in the sky above densely populated and combustion engine clogged cities, causing disease and debilitation and a growing number of pollution-related deaths.

The Threatening Global Environmental Crisis

Climate Summit 2014

The Climate Summit 2014 will be held on September 23,2014, United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA. Heads of State and Government along with business, finance, civil society and local leaders are expected to attend the said summit. The Summit is designed to catalyze action by governments, business, finance, industry, and civil society in areas for new commitments and substantial, scalable and replicable contributions to the Summit that hopefully may help the world shift toward a low-carbon economy.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon intends to forge a solid foundation on which to anchor successful negotiations and sustained progress on the road to reduce emissions and strengthen adaptation strategies.

Conclusion

A fitting end to this article is through adapting the pledge given by Bella Abzug. Saving Mother Earth in our own little ways will make a big difference.

Pledge of Allegiance to the Family of Earth

"I pledge allegiance to the Earth, and to the flora, fauna and human life that it supports: one planet, indivisible, with safe air, water, and soil, economic justice, equal rights, and peace for all." - Bella Abzug

Global warming is the current increase in temperature of the Earth's surface both land and water as well as it's atmosphere. Average temperatures around the world have risen by 0.75°C 1.4° Fover the last 100 years about two thirds of this increase has occurred since 1975.1 2 In the past, when the Earth experienced increases in temperature it was the result of natural causes but today it is being caused by the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere produced by human activities.

In these current days, our world is facing a lot of environmental crisis.

I Believe that the biggest crisis or problem that we are facing right now in our environment is GLOBAL WARMING.

Another is illegal logging. The unpermitted way of cutting trees for exchange of money, uneducated way of cutting trees where in after cutting, people dont mind of planting trees in return.

Many to mention about the different global environment crisis that were facing right now.

      Tourism

Each tourist destination worldwide has its own appeal. This can come from the activities it can provide to visitors, like skiing or golf. It is important that each destination should retain its charms in order to keep the tourist industry booming. With climate change, the beauty of the local destinations is threatened while accessibility too can become a problem especially when airports, roads and bridges are destroyed during extreme weather disturbances.

Global climate change has already had observable effects on the environment. Glaciers have shrunk ice on rivers and lakes is breaking up earlier plant and animal ranges have shifted and trees are flowering sooner.

Effects that scientists had predicted in the past would result from global climate change are now occurring: loss of sea ice accelerated sea level rise and longer more intense heat waves.

a mother earth We were blessed to have an amazing place and amazing planet to live in but all we do is destroy it. The pollution is getting worse, the destruction of everything is already evident and yet we continue to take our planet for granted. We just do what we want, what we think is useful for us or beautiful for us without thinking about how it can affect our planets. Most of the animals are now endangered and most of the plants are dying. It is our responsibility to take good care of our Mother Earth. It is our duty to protect it from harm. We do not need to be rich or old enough to do this. Even at a young age, we can make a difference. Little actions can make a big change if we will be constant and passionate about our willingness to save our planet.

Global warming can cause fast destruction of our planet. That happening now, like climate change. Climate change a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onward and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. To prevent this global warming we need to responsible to our environment like cutting trees, cutting trees can cause flooding to low area and the smoke coming from the vehicle and the factory.

It has been truly a tough challenge for our mother earth to face as such like the environmental crisis. We all know that we depend on our environment for almost anything we have. And the fact that it is being destructed will bring back a huge impact on us. Every one of us have a responsibility to take good care of our Mother Earth even in our own simple ways. If every one of us do something for our earth, it will be a big help.

As far as we know, Earth is the only planet that has life. And Earth is the most beautiful planet in our solar system, before. Because before man had a good relationship with mother nature until man developed different things, and most modern lifestyle has changed. Until our environment is totally polluted and because of that we are now suffering from diseases.

Climate change is not the cause of its increasing numbers we are the ones to blame for the irregular weather patterns that have been changing in dramatic ways. But its never too late to make things better. Always remember that the only constant thing in this world is change. We can change everything but dont just say instead act because action speaks louder than words.

Industrialization has led to urbanization. The migration of rural population to the cities in search of work has created an unhealthy environment. It has led to overcrowding and establishment of slum areas. Towns and cities are full of smoke ,fumes dirt dust rubbish gases foul smell and noise.

The first and most important cause of pollution is the growing population. The earth is now crowded with people, and all of them consume resources and create wastes. If the per capita amounts of pollutants and wastes were to remain constant, the residue loading of the environment would rise precisely in relation to the growth of population. This is acceptable within certain limits, given the capacity of air, water and land to absorb, dilute, carry away and otherwise render pollutants harmless. But, unfortunately, in many places these limits have either been reached or have been exceeded.

Environmental choices must be guided by a vision of a desirable human society and of the quality of the natural environment needed to support that vision.

The over consumption of resources and creation of plastics are creating a global crisis of waste disposal. Developed countries are notorious for producing an excessive amount of waste or garbage and dumping their waste in the oceans and, less developed countries. Nuclear waste disposal has tremendous health hazards associated with it. Plastic, fast food, packaging and cheap electronic wastes threaten the well being of humans. Waste disposal is one of urgent current environmental problem.

Global Warming. Climate Change. It's all true. It's happening now. Sadly, the home of our ancestors is now in a journey of destruction. Because of us. Why us? There are so many reasons but I'll just give some. These are, throwing garbages on the ocean or in the street, illegal logging, cigarette smoking, and throwing chemical residues to bodies of water. Because of these, mother earth is now enraged, giving us stronger storms we can't possibly imagine, eruptions of volcanoes, and massive earthquakes. Now, i realized that what we do to nature will come back to us nth times greater. Nature-made? I don't think so. For me, they are all man-made. Because of us.

As a nurse, i must educate others that an uncleaned environment is one of the factors why we get diseases. Throwing garbages on its right container decreases the rate of us getting illness and it can greatly help mother nature and make our world a better place to live in.

Human beings are currently living in way that is completely unsustainable with the world we live on. A majority of the scientists of our time are unanimous in agreement that climate change is real, and is happening more rapidly than normal because of human activities. As of now, humanity has no concrete plan for how to deal with the growing population of human beings on the planet, along with the massive resource depletion, widespread poverty and pollution.

Before reading this article, I can say I had a very minimal knowledge of what is really going on in the world that we live in. The world now compared to the world before is very different. It's as if we can say that if our dearest Mother Earth will be compared to a human being, it's as if Mother Earth is a worn out mom with a 2 dozen kids. She is tired, she is forgotten, she is sick. We, her kids have forgotten to take care of her and we all took her for granted. If we keep on going with this kind of attitude, our future generation won't be able to witness the beauty that is still left in our world. We cannot anymore bring back what was lost and what was damaged. All we can do now, is preserve what we have left and start to build what we can.

She has provided us with a natural environment of bracing wind and breathable air, magical forests and edible plants, poetic blue oceans and sea and potable water, dreamful rainbows and nourishing rains, storybook streams and irrigating rivers, picturesque landscapes and arable bands, dazzling flowers and delicious fruits.Global Warming is the increase of Earth's average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. This is a type of greenhouse effect. The most significant greenhouse gas is actually water vapor, not something produced directly by humankind in significant amounts. However, even slight increases in atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) can cause a substantial increase in temperature.

Why is this? There are two reasons: First, although the concentrations of these gases are not nearly as large as that of oxygen and nitrogen (the main constituents of the atmosphere), neither oxygen or nitrogen are greenhouse gases. This is because neither has more than two atoms per molecule (i.e. their molecular forms are O2 and N2, respectively), and so they lack the internal vibrational modes that molecules with more than two atoms have. Both water and CO2, for example, have these "internal vibrational modes", and these vibrational modes can absorb and reradiate infrared radiation, which causes the greenhouse effect.

Secondly, CO2 tends to remain in the atmosphere for a very long time (time scales in the hundreds of years). Water vapor, on the other hand, can easily condense or evaporate, depending on local conditions. Water vapor levels therefore tend to adjust quickly to the prevailing conditions, such that the energy flows from the Sun and re-radiation from the Earth achieve a balance. CO2 tends to remain fairly constant and therefore behave as a controlling factor, rather than a reacting factor. More CO2 means that the balance occurs at higher temperatures and water vapor levels.

There is nothing permanent in this world except change as what our world is experiencing right now. The planet is heating up and fast. Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are dying, and wildlife is scrambling to keep pace. It's becoming clear that humans have caused most of the past century's warming by releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. Called greenhouse gases, their levels are higher now than in the last 650,000 years.

We call the result global warming, but it is causing a set of changes to the Earth's climate, or long-term weather patterns, that varies from place to place. As the Earth spins each day, the new heat swirls with it, picking up moisture over the oceans, rising here, settling there. It's changing the rhythms of climate that all living things have come to rely upon.

Environmental issues are harmful effects of human activity on the biophysical environment. Environmental protection is a practice of protecting the natural environment on individual, organizational or governmental levels, for the benefit of both the environment and humans. Environmentalism, a social and environmental movement, addresses environmental issues through advocacy, education and activism. Environment destruction caused by humans is a global problem, and this is a problem that is on going every day. By year 2050, the global human population is expected to grow by 2 billion people, thereby reaching a level of 9.6 billion people. We must save our Mother Earth before it is to late.

We’ve started. But in order to avoid the worst effects of climate change, we need to do a lot more together with other countries to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and start using clean energy instead. In 2015, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency pledged to reduce carbon pollution from our power plants by nearly a third by 2030, relative to 2005 levels, through its Clean Power Plan. The U.S. Department of Transportation has proposed carbon pollution and fuel economy standards that should cut emissions through the 2020s. Chemicals that contribute to global warming, like hydrofluorocarbons (used in air conditioners), are being phased out of production nationwide, and so are energy-inefficient household items like incandescent lightbulbs. Also in 2015, solar and wind power provided more than 5 percent of the United States’ electricity for the first time, and construction started on the country’s first offshore wind power project. Globally, at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Paris, 195 countries including the United States agreed to pollution-cutting provisions with a goal of preventing the average global temperature from rising more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial times. Scientists say we must stay below a two-degree increase to avoid catastrophic climate impacts. To help make the deal happen, the Obama administration pledged $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund, an international organization dedicated to helping poor countries adopt cleaner energy technologies. Under the terms of the Paris agreement, participating nations will meet every five years, starting in 2020, to revise their plans for cutting CO2 emissions. Beginning in 2023, they will also have to publicly report their progress

The world is getting hotter, and humans are responsible. It's very alarming that our world is slowly becoming a hot world for everyone. The climate change negotiations are a never-ending process and it is about remolding society and changing the global economy. Scientists have also noted that glaciers and ice sheets around the world are melting. Satellite observations since the 1970s have shown warming in the lower atmosphere. There's more heat in the ocean, causing water to expand and sea levels to rise. Plants are flowering earlier in many parts of the world. There's more humidity in the atmosphere. Global warming will have an impact in the future by hotter temperature, high sea-level rise, heat waves, droughts and floods, hurricanes, heavier storm surges, agriculture, and long-term changes.

The world is facing a very serious environmental crisis. Key environmental problems include air pollution, the destruction of the ozone layer, vast quantities of toxic waste, massive levels of soil erosion, the possible exhaustion of key natural resources such as oil and coal, and the extinction of plants and animals on a scale not seen since the death of the dinosaurs 60 million years ago. We think that this crisis is likely to have catastrophic effects in the future. Even today, the negative effects of the crisis are evident in the form of growing deserts, increased rates of cancer, and the loss of plant species which could hold out cures for diseases for diseases such as AIDS etc. We should always be prepared and active for us to be safe always, and we all know that God is always there for us.

We, the citizens of our nation and of our Earth, are endowed with certain rights, powers, and obligations, which demand we act both individually and collectively to protect and preserve the ongoing evolution of life on Earth, including our future generations.

Based upon a preponderance of scientific evidence we recognize our global climate is rapidly warming and becoming increasingly unstable due to human-caused carbon pollution from the burning of fossil fuels. If we do not change course before global warming tipping points are crossed, this destabilization of our climate will continue to cause ever-increasing suffering and potentially irreversible devastation for both current and future generations. If left unresolved, it could cause the extinction, or near extinction, of the human species.

In relation to teaching, I want my students to be aware of this very alarming global crisis. I want them to be a responsible citizen someday by teaching them how to take care our environment to save Mother Earth.

Global warming refers to an average increase in the Earth's atmosphere primarily due to the so called "greenhouse effect". The destruction of the ozone layer in the atmosphere and the global greenhouse effect contribute in the occurrence of this phenomenon. There will be heavier rainfall in already heavy rainfall months and lower rainfall during dry months.

Climate change is the long-term average of a region's weather events lumped together. There are some effects of greenhouse gases and global warming: melting of ice caps, rising sea levels, change in climatic patterns, spread diseases, economic consequences, increased droughts and heat waves. Other effects are bleaching of coral reefs, El Nino and La Nina phenomenon.

As a future teacher, I want to teach my students the proper segregation of waste, the important of planting trees, unplug the unused appliances. Small things like this can help to prevent this so called global warming.

We think that environmental issues are directly relevant to working class, poor and working peasant people. These oppressed classes are the main victims of the environmental crisis. It is the workers who have to work in the factories that spew out toxic waste, who have to spray the pesticides which poison the land and water. It is the communities of the poor which are built next to the polluting industrial areas. It is the working peasantry whose land is destroyed by soil erosion. The environment is not just the veld and the wild animals, it is also where people live and work.

Global warming and climate change refer to an increase in average global temperatures. Natural events and human activities are believed to be contributing to an increase in average global temperatures. This is caused primarily by increases in greenhouse gases such as Carbon Dioxide (CO2). Ozone depletion occurs when the natural balance between the production and destruction of ozone in the stratosphere is tipped in favour of destruction. There are many ways to make our environment be healthy but we the people are also the cause why our environment is getting worse. The community should be initiative in making our environment productive and healthier than before and let’s maintain the cleanliness and the freshness of our surroundings.

Concepts regarding the environment and aesthetic preferences are studied and represented in behavioral maps. Environment influences behavior at different levels. Immediate behavior is a function of the setting in which it occurs. The personality make-up of people of a country is shaped by the nature and type of environment in which they live. In unnatural or caged conditions animals show `behavior starvation' and their behavior breaks down. Population stress and the artificial character of urban conditions are supposed to be the reasons for the increased rates of crime and incidence of mental disorders of people living in urban areas. Applied Environmental Psychology attempts to provide norms for better management of the environment for better life and personality development. It studies effective ways of promoting conservation of the natural environment and better ways of designing buildings, towns and cities, taking into consideration the behavioral needs and responses of people.

The environmental crisis we face today is both a nightmare and a tragedy. Reading this hub made me realize even more that the Earth we live in, we have taken for granted for so long, and even up to this day we don't seem to fully comprehend the importance of Earth to every living being. It is a nightmare because a day will come that Earth may not exist anymore because of the selfish human beings inhabiting this planet, it may not be tomorrow or next week but that day will sure come. I am deeply sorry for our Mother Earth, she deserves better treatment from us, people have become so arrogant that they often forget that Earth does not need us as much as we need her. We have abused her, tortured her, used her! I hate that we have to live this nightmare everyday, pretending everything is alright.

It is indeed a tragedy, to live in such a cruel world. To witness our very own home be abused, tortured and used without second thoughts. To live in this day witnessing the suffering our Mother Earth experiences everyday, it's heartbreaking and i weep for her. But it doesn't have to stay tragic and a nightmare, we can still do something. If every single human being will do something and contribute to make our Earth healthier and better, we might still have a chance on saving her. We can still do it.

We must make action now or else, we will lose everything.

As a Psychology student, it is my duty to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for my patients, and every human being. And I will do so by contributing in my own ways.

A major concern of people from all demographics and religions is the environmental crises are taking place in the US and all over the world today. Many aspects our daily lives in the capitalist society we live in are causing grave destruction to our planet. Issues such as global warming, bottling water, and the search for oil and fossil fuels are some of the most known environmental crises taking place in the US. I believe the US could in fact find safe, profitable solutions to many of these problems as long as it is willing to be proactive and address the serious issues at hand while they can be corrected. If the US does not step in and set regulation and new laws on the big businesses and individual citizens that are causing these crises, our environment as a whole will continue to suffer irreversible affects. One of the most serious and publicized environmental crises that is effecting our planet is global warming. Often naïvely brushed off and not recognized by people in charge of businesses that are adding to it, global warming is an extremely real and serious issue. Aside of that one of the main reason is the over population. An environmental crisis is an emergency concerned with the place in which every human lives - the environment. A people crisis is an emergency with the community that inhabits the world environment. A crisis of population growth is a turning point where the environment can no longer sustain the amounts ofpeople which it contains. A crisis of apathy and inaction is one where thehuman race cannot be motivated to solve the problems with the environment thatthey themselves have created.

All humanity is really in the grip of global environmental crisis. A problem derived by the entire human race and a problem that could only be solved with the cooperation of all. Wrought by humans, a changing climate brought about impacts that lead to economic damages, mass migrations and violent conflicts, aftermaths face by humans.

If we continue on our current path, pumping billions of tons of Carbon pollution into the atmosphere, we know we’ll trigger more of these harmful climate consequences eventually. Climate change is ultimately a risk management issue. The more Carbon pollution we pump into the atmosphere, the more we increase the risk of triggering dangerous and damaging climate changes.

We only have one Earth and one climate. Although it makes good for science fiction, we’re unlikely to have interstellar travel available in the next century. We won’t be able to solve the problem by maltreating the Earth and moving on to a new planet. To mitigate the risk associated with climate change, the solution is to consume less fossil fuel and pump less Carbon pollution into the atmosphere. It is because the more we reduce the consumption of what’s causing the problem, the better our chance of avoiding its dangerous consequences. How to manage business risks is the lesson that we could derive from this.

As what the Bible says, "God created first the heaven and the Earth". Earth is one of the precious gift that is given from us. For us to thank our Almighty God, we should take care of our Mother Earth. In the past decades, the Earth changed. From the green land into gray / blackish land. Why? Because of what people do in our Earth. Human activity is one the reasons why the Earth changed. People became miserable of doing bad things to Earth. Throw garbage here, throw garbage there. We don't even understand now the word 'respect and discipline' because of what we have done to our Earth. As a student and one of the future heroes of the society, we should know how to save the Mother Earth. By how? By knowing the importance of 3R's and planting more trees in the field. And if the people still continue this disgraceful things not only this generation will experience this but rather the future generation also.

Like our precious Mother Earth, she should be treated in a way she deserves. She needs to be taken care of by her chilldren, and we humans are her children. Earth changes over time, as her children we must do our part to save her from these changes because of all creatures, we humans are the ones responsible to take good care of her. What is tbe relevance of this ub acctg? When we become accountants someday, it's uncertain when our company might be facing huge problems and changes, like our roles as children of mother earth it's also our role to take good care of the company we are working at. We must make sure that the money flows accordingly to avoid crisis

And he gave us brain and made us the superior of all his creations to be the one to think of ways on how to utilize these resources in a way that we will not destroy them. However, what happened was the opposite. The only thing that humans invented are those will give harm to the environment. Taking care of it has not became our objective but being civilized is. And the more we take step into development, the more we destroy the environment. The earth that is our only shelter. The earth that is our only provider. These environmental problems arises from careless and illegal doings of humans. As the time passes by we continue to do destroy our surroundings and let our surroundings destroy living organisms. Just imagine our world suffering as we suffer more because we cannot escape the fact that we depend on our environment because it's where we live. We should overcome these threats to our own lives. By just maintaining our surroundings clean and by throwing our wastes properly will count. While the area for living stabilizes, the number of people keeps growing incredible day by day. At that time, deforestation becomes one way to expand the area for survival in their point of view. In fact, people cut trees down in a large number without awareness of long-term effects to environment and further to our own life. The variety of life on Earth, its biological diversity, is commonly referred to as biodiversity. The number of species of plants, animals, and microorganisms, the enormous diversity of genes in these species, the different ecosystems on the planet, such as deserts, rainforests and coral reefs are all part of a biologically diverse Earth. Appropriate conservation and sustainable development strategies attempt to recognize this as being integral to any approach. In some way or form, almost all cultures have recognized the importance of nature and its biological diversity for their societies and have therefore understood the need to maintain it. Yet, power, greed and politics have affected the precarious balance. Biodiversity boosts ecosystem productivity where each species, no matter how small, all have an important role to play. It has long been feared that human activity is causing massive extinctions. Despite increased efforts at conservation, it has not been enough and biodiversity losses continue. The costs associated with deteriorating or vanishing ecosystems will be high. However, sustainable development and consumption would help avert ecological problems.

The environmental crisis is a global issue. We share a planet of interconnected eco-systems. Pollution of the air, water, soil and food affects all life. As we each wake up, individuals can work together to put an end to the devastation. In short, the reason why we face this kind of problem is because of the people around us, and to solve it, people are also will be the reason to solve this kind of issues.

      The origin of the Earth

The age of the Earth was once, and still is, a matter great debate. In 1650 Archbishop Usher used the Bible to calculate that the Earth was created in 4004 BC. Later on in the mid-nineteenth century Charles Darwin believed that the Earth must be extremely old because he recognized

that natural selection and evolution required vast amounts of time.

It wasn't until the discovery of radioactivity that scientists began to put a timescale on the history of the Earth. Rocks often contain heavy radioactive elements which decay over long periods of time, the decay is unaffected by the physical and chemical conditions and different elements decay at different rates (These rates are slow and half-lifes of several hundred million years are not uncommon)

Throughout this century the race has been on to discover the oldest rocks in the world. The oldest volcanic rock found so far has been dated at 3.75 billion years old, but this is not the whole story. Meteorites created at the same time as the Earth hit us all the time, radioactive dating shows that they are about 4.55 billion years old.

Mother Earth has produced nurtured all life since the beginning of time. As written in this link/ page. We need to protect and save mother Earth from rupture. We can still save her by doing little things such as planting trees, rather than using cars or vehicles, if we are going only in a near places, we can use bikes or we can walk. By doing this, we can be exercising our bodies and it can also help our Mother Earth.

Climate change has often occurred on earth due to natural causes over timescales that vary from decades to hundreds of thousands of years. However, on the basis of considerable evidence, there is a strong consensus in the climate science research community that the changes that have been observed over the past few decades are mainly caused by human activity. The human influences on climate change arise from combustion of fossil fuels (also known as hydrocarbon fuels) and changes in land use. These activities alter the RADIATIVE BALANCE of the earth either by changing its atmospheric composition so as to enhance the natural greenhouse effect, or by changing the reflectivity of the earth's surface or atmosphere.

The main human activities that contribute to an enhancement of the natural greenhouse effect are:

Combustion of fossil fuels, which releases greenhouse gases, clearing of forests for agriculture, which releases carbon dioxide through increased biomass decay, and deforestation, soil tillage and land degradation, which release carbon from the land system and reduce its capacity to absorb and store carbon.

Earth, along with the other planets, is believed to have been born 4.5 billion years ago as a solidified cloud of dust and gases left over from the creation of the Sun. For perhaps 500 million years, the interior of Earth stayed solid and relatively cool, perhaps 2,000°F. Mother Earth is the source of everything. Mother Earth gives everything we need in order to survive: natural environment, food, shelter etc. But sad to say our Mother Earth is in danger. Little by little, our environment is getting worst everyday. We keep on destroying our surroundings. Despite of everything she had given to us, we are devastating it. What caused the global environmental crisis? The real blame for the environmental crisis must be laid at the door of capitalism and the State. These structures create massive levels of inequality which are responsible for much ecological devastation. How? The accumulation of wealth and power in the hands of the few is associated with excessive and unjustifiable high levels of consumption by the ruling elite. The poverty caused by the system also creates environmental problems. For example, by forcing the poor to cut down trees for firewood, exhaust the tiny bits of farm land that they own in a desperate attempt to provide food, pollute rivers because they lack proper plumbing facilities etc. Global warming and climate change refer to an increase in average global temperatures. Natural events and human activities are believed to be contributing to an increase in average global temperatures. This is caused primarily by increases in “greenhouse” gases such as Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

Changes in the greenhouse gas concentrations and other drivers alter the global climate and bring about myriad human health consequences. Environmental consequences of climate change, such as extreme heat waves, rising sea-levels, changes in precipitation resulting in flooding and droughts, intense hurricanes, and degraded air quality, affect directly and indirectly the physical, social, and psychological health of humans. For instance, changes in precipitation are creating changes in the availability and quantity of water, as well as resulting in extreme weather events such as intense hurricanes and flooding. Climate change can be a driver of disease migration, as well as exacerbate health effects resulting from the release of toxic air pollutants in vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and those with asthma or cardiovascular disease. Sooner or later, we will have to recognise that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can live without humans.

The environmental crisis is a long-term threat to Earth’s well-being. Human technology has done so well in exploiting the Earth’s ‘resources’ that we are rapidly using up both renewable and non-renewable resources. As well, the toxic by-products of our production processes and consumer lifestyles are being produced much more rapidly than Earth can absorb. The impact is so pervasive that there is not an ecosystem on the planet that is free from the consequences of human activity; for example, the toxic byproducts of industrial production have been found in ice samples taken from deep in the Arctic. Human activity has changed the “chemistry of the planet” for example, climate change, ozone depletion, desertification of soil, growth of deserts, and the proliferation of toxins...
