American Chicanery

So Attorney General Eric Holder “does not know who did what” with regard to the AP phone taps announced this week. He just knows that “it’s not his fault”. Oh, so Mr. Holder…you want to be the leader; the man in charge but you do not want to be responsible for the actions of those under your direction…is that about the way it is with you? All you desire is the power to push and shove the weight of the federal government behind the badge of the Attorney General but you want no accountability when things turn sour.

That seems to be the running theme of those in high positions in the Obama Administration including the president himself. Holder has the audacity to say that he “recused himself from the AP case over one year ago.” Oh yeah…well, why are we just now finding out that the problem existed. If Mr. Holder knew there was an issue why was his first action to recuse himself if not for the benefit of his own career preservation? This man is the head of the department of justice and a case of illegal wire-tapping has been allowed to languish in his department for over a year now? All the president can say is that he still has faith in Eric Holder’s leadership…have we lost our mind?

Obama has detached himself from the economy, from the failed stimulus, from the nightmare of ObamaCare, from the bankruptcy of green industries with billions of government dollars in their pockets, from Fast N’ Furious, from Benghazi, and now he wants to throw the temporary director of the IRS under the bus…the man who was leaving in June of this year anyway and call it all even on the IRS shenanigans. This man is not governing nor is he accepting any accountability for the actions of those he appoints to carry out the work of the government. These things are happening on his watch; he is ultimately accountable for the actions of his administration yet time and again he is allowed to slide by those in elected positions and the media.

How much does one administration have to mess up before something sticks to their sides? Do we really believe that some low-level types in the IRS dreamed up this whole fiasco to suppress conservative organizations on their own…gone totally rogue in the interest of promoting liberal agendas without some direction from those in high places? Do we really believe that as a people? If we do, then we are certainly capable of buying swampland or building bridges to nowhere. The IRS situation and the AP situation are both strong examples of political meddling through the use of government power and when the jig is up, they throw the little people under the bus and cry for forgiveness in their oversight. How many coincidences can we have of this nature before it becomes apparent that it is not the little people doing these things but simply the little people following the instructions which they have been given?

The fox has been in the henhouse, no doubt, and on more than one occasion. They evidence is everywhere with feathers all about and likely there is much more to be had if we can get the chickens talk under oath for fear of their jobs. Instead, the fox had rather you put better locks on the henhouse and not turn the dogs out to track him down. He swears that it won’t happen again…the hens were just too lax and things got out of hand quickly. It’s fixed now.

Of course, every day that goes by that the media is playing with these internal government scandals is just another day lost on the focus of Benghazi…another day without progress in getting answers and finding the responsible parties who let four Americans die without retaliation or significant follow-up. Four Americans died yet the response is What difference does it make, Senator?” What difference does it make?” Here again is the suggestion that we simply wash our hands of the entire manner, write it off to history, and move on knowing full well that we will handle the next one in the same way. There is no accountability and certainly there is no honor among thieves.

Richard Nixon was driven from office for something far less reaching that what has been revealed about the Obama Administration in just the past two weeks. No one died in the Watergate Scandal…it was a two-bit burglary that was botched carried out in the name of political gain. The crime was a cover up which involved Nixon and his minions. Here, with the Obama Administration, we certainly have far worse and in multiple events yet there is no accountability and Obama himself makes it clear that he is not the person to be wearing the blame. Do you sense some double standard on the part of Washington and the media? Or, are they all just afraid that someone might just play the “race card” if any eye brows are seriously raised? Ah yes, the race card…Mr. Obama always has that one in his back pocket when all else fails.

One must sooner or later ask the question, “What would Eric Holder have to do in order for Obama to call for his head in terms of accountability?” That answer is not forthcoming on my part. I have no earthly idea. I suspect Mr. Holder knows too much to be either chastised or terminated for his actions. You might say that he has pictures of the President in some rather bad circumstances in a manner of speaking. Ultimately, Holder and Obama are two peas in a pod, cut from the same cloth….self-preservation comes before anything else and they only way one will abandon the other is when it comes down to one or the other in terms of accountability…in that case, Mr. Obama may or may not hold the winning hand.

Obama is a poser to the throne; the “continual candidate” who never stopped campaigning even after he won the office. This is how he insulates himself from these matters…he appears to be against all of it; cannot believe that it happened and certainly would not be something that he wanted. In other words, when I do decide to govern, this won’t be happening. The low-brow voter then believes that his hands are clean and that the “system” is simply out to “get Obama”. Of course that Teflon coating seems to drip on to his appointed minions as well; those who enjoy the power of position yet refuse any accountability for their leadership…like Eric Holder.

If our elected officials in Congress had any spine at all, we might start to get to the bottom of all of this but that cannot happen when we call in witnesses to testify (like Hillary Clinton) then conveniently forget to swear them to an oath on their testimony. They can perjure themselves all day without any recourse. At the same time Holder can sit in front of a committee and run his big mouth like everyone should be bowed down to the great and powerful Attorney General of the United States of America. The man should be in contempt of the Congress if anyone had the spine to do their job. If that ever happens, you can bet that John Boehner will not be anywhere nearby.

The checks and balances of this great nation depend on each branch of government demonstrating it strength and working toward preserving ethics, integrity, and the Constitution. When one branch runs roughshod over the other, the only recourse is for that branch to exercise it force and might in bringing things back to center line. At present, the executive branch of government is out of control and continuing on that path. The Supreme Court cannot stop it unless there is a formal challenge. The Justice Department under Holder is nothing more than an extension of the Obama Administration and Congress…well, that is just pitiful.

It is time for the American public, as a majority, to find its voice and demand answers and accountability. At present, this Administration is addressing issues and events as if it is “trading beads with drunk Indians”…we are being duped time and time again; offered lame explanations if not outright lies, and then scolded when we question any of it by those who perpetrated the action in the first place. How blind can we be? The answer here is ACCOUNTABILITY, plain and simple and it always will be. Presidents and department heads, etc. will always change but the concept of accountability remains the same and must be demanded and carried out. We elect people to sit in high places in this country and carry out “the will of the people”, not to offer us some sort of snake oil and flim-flam excuses which end up with no one being accountable for anything. The people must speak…the time has come.

As Americans, we have a nation structured on a Constitution and a Bill of Rights. We subscribe to the Rule of Law as a people. All elements of our basic premise as a nation are under attack by this administration and all they can do when they are caught red-handed is to plead forgiveness and attempt to throw some little people under the bus to qualm the outcry. That is no longer good enough and never has been. Our country is way too far left of centerline in its direction; too far off course and basically on the wrong path. We must have a correction and it starts with accountability on the IRS, on the AP Phone Taps, on Fast N’ Furious, and on Benghazi. It is long since passed the time when things should be collecting on this list of inaction.
