Dawg-Days In America

Updated on April 18, 2014

By: Wayne Brown

The “dawg days” of the upcoming presidential elections in November seem to be upon us as those on both sides trade their barbs concerning who did what with the family dog. I just hope neither side had too many pets so that we can move on to even better subjects like maybe “what pranks either one of them pulled on the neighbors for Halloween.” These are truly exciting times. The USA is plowing straight ahead into bankruptcy just like the Titanic headed for that inevitable iceberg and those who purport to captain the ship are arguing over the rum. Intelligence and class abound in America today.

Obama just could not wait for the nomination to challenge Romney on his tax returns. No doubt, it was a move designed to shame Romney in the public eye. The message was, “how dare you choose success over anything else; how dare you become independently wealthy…it must have been at the expense of the rest of America!” That’s the message that Obama wants the press to run with smearing Romney for taking advantage of the American Dream. Then, of course, if Romney chooses not to share his tax returns, Obama can shame him more for not being forthcoming and honest as he has been, at least categorically.

Obama certainly has done and is doing his share of holding back and hiding. He has a grandmother who is pretty sure he was born in Kenya but Barack thinks it might have been Hawaii. He claims that and believes it to the point of producing birth certificates that will not withstand the scrutiny of the courtroom but are offered up to the American people as a statement of truth. His attorney pleads to a judge that he should not need his birth certificate to be on the ballot and the judge rules in Obama’s favor ignoring the fact that one does need to provide birthright citizenship in order meet the qualifications for the job if you are elected which means, he needs to produce a legitimate birth certificate. If he cannot take that simple step in a courtroom, one must be doubtful that what he is offering up has little validity. The shameful part is that if this job had been done in 2007 and the candidate held to the rule, we would not still be discussing Obama’s dodge and weave.

Obama claims to be of the Christian faith but seems terribly soft on the Muslim (Islamic) faith going so far as to claim, back in his senatorial days after 9-11, that America had brought the attacks upon itself by not being respectful of the Islamic world. My sense is the man is of the Muslim faith and I will bet you a dollar to a doughnut that you will not find any “pulled-pork sandwiches” being served in the White House on Obama’s watch. At the same time, I point out that all those good, Christian, Southern Baptist down in North and South Carolina are eating that pulled pork all the time…can’t get enough of it.

Then there are the college transcripts which also remain under lock and key. You know, it is one thing to hide you transcript from your mama when the grades don’t quite come up to par but it is another to hide them from the American public especially when you claim to be a “Magna Cum Laude” honor graduate with a degree in jurisprudence. Of course, every good honor student knows there are 57 states and that algae can be used to replace fossil fuel anytime we decide to start using it. They also know that solar is the way to go although most of us will need a very, very large set of panels on the top of our cars just to keep the interior light burning. And every good honor graduate knows that the 28th Amendment bars Congress and the President from making any laws which do not also apply to them as well, but, then that is only one of the glitches associated with Obama-Care.

We also know that people who study the law and graduate with the highest honors have a passion for the law, a fascination with it. Given that premise, President Obama voluntarily gave up his law license with no real explanation as to why…another hidden detail it seems. Maybe the law license looks something like his passport which allowed him to freely travel to countries as a young man where American citizens were barred…a miracle passport of sorts.

Don’t forget the “selective justice” which Obama seems to want to practice. Obama continues to prosecute Arizona on the enforcement of illegal immigration but turns a blind eye when his Attorney General, Eric Holder, comes up neck-deep in an illegal gun-running operation to Mexico which was designed to paint false black marks in the American gun industry. Holder does not even get a good slap on the wrist and continues to hold his position. Holder refused to prosecute The New Black Panthers for voter intimidation and then followed that up by ignoring The New Black Panthers offer of a reward to anyone killing George Zimmerman. That is the kind of justice a real honor graduate in law can appreciate. A real honor graduate understands fully the implications of scolding the Supreme Court for potentially legislating from the bench before they even rule on Obama-Care. Obama rightfully points out that Congress shall make the laws…even the ones that violate the Constitution of The United States of America. That is just a minute detail to a true honor graduate in law.

Obama has blamed just about every malady in America on those he calls “The Wealthy”. His ever-loyal billionaire friend, Warren Buffett, charges in to plead for someone to charge him a higher income tax rate while hypocritically fighting the IRS for nearly one billion dollars in back taxes which his company owes. Obama holds this man up as a shining example of one of the rich willing to do his duty. At the same time, Obama fails to mention the truth of the matter. As long as things are like they are at the present in Washington, it does not matter how much money comes in in taxes or who pays it…the money will be spent on earmarking and pork-barreling and the debt which we have accumulated will remain the same as will the spending deficit. Obama elects to ignore that spending is truly the problem and continues to do his share in keeping that effort high, a true sign of one in the know economically.

Recently Obama made another of his analogies as he vowed to rain down on the oil and gas industry in the name of lowering crude oil prices. He indicated that he will spend millions of dollars adding new regulators to police the industry. He made his point by offering a comparison that if the NFL added more football teams, then they naturally would add more referees to officiate. He then used this to rationalize his approach to oil and gas with more regulators. The myth in this reasoning is that the NFL, even in adding more teams and more refs, will still have the same level of regulation and rules. That will not be the outcome of adding more regulators for oil and gas, you can bet on that one.

Obama talks of infrastructure, economic upturns, and shovel-ready jobs yet all we see are billions of dollars going to “green energy” companies who manage to turn up bankrupt right after they receive their government-guaranteed loans. We see the federal government subsidizing the Chevy Volt to the tune of $8000 per vehicle to the buyer only to watch as GM temporarily cuts back production of the car because of poor sales. From General Motors to Solyndra, we see the same mistake over and over. Each time it comes out of our hide, the taxpayers, because Obama and company want to ignore the ways of the free-market in America. We now have gasoline-powered cars that selling for half what the Chevy Volt sells for and gets fuel economy that is almost as high. In the meantime, some poor sucker who bought the Volt to get his $8000 worth of government assistance is tooling around out there on a battery charge that is a joke and preparing to fire up his gasoline assisted engine to get home. This is not technology at work…it is lip-service to a concept with all the price tag and little of the performance. Of course, who would expect a Magna Cum Laude honor grad to notice little details like that?

Look at all that has been said here and I have barely scratched the surface with regard to the first four years of Obama in the White House. There is plenty to point out that sinks to the level of failure and few if anything that rises even close to a level of mediocre success. The issues are there and plain as the nose on one’s face. Obama certainly does not want to discuss them and would most certainly put all of it under lock and key just like his transcripts and his passport if he had the choice. Obama wants to talk about anything but the real issues in this election…never forget that point.

I hope you get the picture. I don’t want to see Romney or any other conservative nominee get dragged into media discussions about who did what to the dog. I don’t want to see them attempting to fight off the accusation of a “war on women”….you cannot prove a false negative…get on with it. I want to see the conservative take the initiative and go on the offensive for a change. Let’s stop making nice here and talk about the real issues….Obama’s record setting performance for the last four years. Let’s talk about the man who knocked Jimmy Carter clean off the pedestal of being called the worst president of all times. We are talking about the man who can make people forget about the stains on Monica’s blue dress and actually look back on the days of Bill Clinton with a certain fondness and longing. We don’t need someone to curtsey and bow in the name of political correctness and Romney needs to get that figured out. We need the gloves off and we need a candidate to call the cards as they have fallen….a miserable failure in every sense of the word. Now let’s get on with sending this guy back to Illinois for one of those “shovel-ready” jobs he likes so much.

@Dim Flaxenwick...We must break this cycle and head in a different direction as a country soon to save all of us. Those who look to government to support them will have nothing to lean on once government has fallen into bankrupt is all a false promise aimed at gaining votes...those in elected office have no conscience as to what they have done to America. Politics is a dirty business our side of the Pond too.

You have a brilliant way of making the issues clear. It´s a pity the politicians couldn´t do the same.

      Great hub....

@Gypsy Rose Lee...Thank you. We need just about anything besides the status quo. Obama ia not leading in a direction that is fit for America and Reid & Company has basically locked the Senate down to dysfunction. Anything is an improvement over our past situation of the last three plus years. WB

Oh man you are so right we have to figure this all out intelligently and with a cool head. We don't need a boob in the White House. My prob is that I have my rights to vote from Riga come November and no clue who to cast my vote for. Help!!!!

@breakfastpop...It doesn't take much intelligence to see what is going on in Washington...they are stealing us blind and preparing the commune for us to live in. We really need to sweep that place and start over. Thanks Poppy. WB

If everyone was as intelligent as you we wouldn't be in this mess right now. November is our last and only chance from stopping this train from completely de-railing. I just can't understand how so many people can be so incredibly blind. Up useful, interesting and awesome.

@The Frog Prince...Thanks Jim...I agree with you...spine is hard to find in Washington today. Political careers come before doing the work of the people for far too many on both sides...we need to change and change fast. I'll look for your piece on the Fear Factor. WB

@drbj...You are so right, Doc...too many "sheeple" and not enough people who see freedom and opportunity as the two highest priorities we have as a nation. We will either fix that or pay a huge price for it. With our borders being deluged with illegals, I cannot imagine how we can find a sense of patriotism among our masses. We are no longer a people with a central focus and that will be our downfall if we cannot fix it. Thanks much. WB

Wayne - you have laid out everything so clearly it is difficult to understand how any sensible person would re-elect our leader (?) Oh, wait, that's my mistake. Too many voters are not people - they are sheeple who are easily led and are following the path of entitlement rather than opportunity. We must make that difference come November,

Wayne - Nice read. You know me though, I stay on Obama like stink is on doo-doo. Everything about Obama is fraudulent. You covered a lot of ground in this Hub.

I have a theory about why our other elected officials (Congress) aren't willing to act - FEAR. I'll let people think about that for a while. Soon I will write about the fear factor and what may be behind it.

Keep the faith. Remember in November and get 5 people to go to the polls with you on November 6th.

WB - Outstanding hub as usual. It is amazing that these really glaring omission's regarding Obama's past continue to go unchallenged. As you pointed out, the only really happy person is Jimmy Carter as he will be required to pass on the "Worst President Trophy" he has held for so many years.
