HEART OF AMERICA RESPONDS

By Robert Hewett Sr.

They were among the crowd in clothes that fit in

Nondescript persons who were part of the din.

They dropped their lethal backpacks, simple and plain.

They were successful in their plan, causing death and pain,

Perhaps laughing within when the bombs burst.

They will not win, this is America they hurt.

We are talented, strong, we never give up.

Even as wounded were treated at the scene,

American law gathered evidence to glean.

The bombers, domestic or foreign are not safe,

From now to eternity their soles will chafe.

They will be identified before they have aged.

This is the Heart of America they have enraged

You've managed to capture the essence of this trespass against us in tightly written lines that invoke imagery as well as a powerful message.

We just never know where, why or when a tragedy of this impact will happen - Very much enjoyed this write.

Thank you Denizee for your visit and for the nice comment. You are right, we never know when, by whom or where such acts will occur.

A good analogy of the changing world we live in.
