American Snake-Oil

Updated on September 16, 2014

By: Wayne Brown

The Obama re-election process is beginning to emerge in a number of ways. He is not the one talking about it because he does not understand it well enough to explain it to anyone. He is simply an actor upon the stage taking direction and will continue to be such since the traits of leadership totally evade his character making him a poor candidate for the job.

One of the early key elements to emerge is DISTRACTION. Obama throws some red meat on the table which is totally off subject but aimed at a given block of voters. This happened recently with the condom issue and again with his comments on women becoming members of Augusta Country Club. He purposely failed to quell the racial overtones in the Trayvon Martin slaying electing instead to make statements that further inflamed the process. In every instance the liberal media runs with the subject and pushes potential candidates from the other side to address the issue delaying any discussion of the real centerpiece of the election…Obama’s lousy performance during his first term in office. This is the one subject that Obama and his minions do not want to talk about for any length of time because all the lies associated with that performance will start to become more visible.

Recently, the election campaign allowed a young writer who I assumed they knew would probably spread the word, to tour Obama’s re-election headquarters in Illinois. The writer just appeared on Huckabee chiding all of the technology in use by the campaign and the focus on using that technology on social networks to focus the campaign message. There is nothing wrong with that process but the message carried by this young writer reeked of the same fears attempted when Obama warned that he would have a billion dollar war chest. It plays to Alinsky’s rules for radicals to always make things sound bigger and more effective than they are in reality. All this is designed to scare the other side and hopefully cause them to head off in the wrong direction. At the very least, it will put them on the defensive and keep them from executing their game plan due to the distraction.

In the weeks to come, we will see Obama again and again, focus comments on issues which are not mainstream to the election process causing havoc in the media and further delaying any discussion of his performance. Of course the divisiveness with regard to race, gender, and class will continue and deepen with Obama and company fanning the flames. Expect that issue to broaden considerably as Obama weighs in on illegal immigration and pushes for amnesty in order to strengthen his base with Latino voters. Liberal media outlets will be on board as they always are and hammer the opposition with questions that have no real substance or matter. At the same time, they will not question Obama’s performance nor will they ask him to defend it in any way. If the Republican nominee gets caught in this media rip-tide, look for Obama to move ahead in the election process.

The entire philosophy circulates around the premise that you cannot teach fire safety when the firehouse is burning down on top of you. Light enough brush fires and the distraction will take people away from the real issue of arson…they are too busy fighting fires to look for culprits. This is Obama’s insulation blanket and the method in which he will avoid defending his first term of office. In fact, don’t be surprised if the chant is that his first estimates in terms of a stimulus were far too conservative. He will lean heavily on the extremely mild growth in the economy as an indication that the seeds which he has planted are taking root and the turn-around is just over the next hill…all he needs is four more years to bring in the crops. This is exactly what far too many want to hear. Desperation breeds a society willing to embrace anything if it promises a chicken in every pot and a free block of cheese from the local government warehouse. Obama understands this but his policies in the long-term will only create more and more people who cannot live without that government chicken or cheese. He is counting on that end.

The conservative message is a clear and simple one if it is sustained in focus and frequency. The focus is on Obama’s performance in his first term and the frequency has to be high. Every single time a distraction is offered up by the media, the conservative candidate must spend minimal time on that issue and return the discussion to Obama’s record. That singular topic must be hammered home in every possible way so that as many Americans as possible dwell on the information and digest it. It is not acceptable that Obama can blame his woes on Bush while throwing away taxpayer money at a rate never seen before in this country. It is not acceptable that Obama can continue to pile up deficit spending ever-increasing the national debt without acknowledging that reduced spending is the only effective measure to quell this growth. He must be called on the carpet on that issue and made to debate it.

The interest alone on our project national debt in the year 2019 will be more than the current defense budget for one year. That budget, takes second place only to spending for entitlements (Social Security, Medicare). For those who are thrown into fears that Republicans want to do away with entitlements, that debate needs to take place in the public form. Obama does not want that to happen because he cannot win the discussion nor can he prove the claim. No doubt, regardless of who the presidency goes to, the issue of entitlements will continue to be there. Our government officials have been squandering those funds on other things since the 1960’s with the thought that the money could always be replaced and that thought process continued for far too long. Now, the revenue streams for those programs are shrinking and there are no surpluses to replace the “borrowed funds” but Obama has no desire to discussion it because it will put him on the road to having to defend his spending habits.

A second term for Obama will make his first one look like the actions of an elementary school child. In his second term, Obama is counting on bringing ObamaCare on line and single-handedly leading the government in the takeover of the private sector insurance and medical industries. Any American who would stand by and let that happen does not see what is coming in the future. It is all being sold as a benefit to the middle class in that Obama claims that everything he does is about the middle class. That may be true but the actions are not designed to sustain it, far from it, they are designed to destroy it and destroy it he will along with the rest of the country in terms of its democratic and constitutional roots.

Obama will go international in his second term of office. He will have to do that to institute the gun-control laws which he so desires for America. Since Eric Holder’s Fast ‘n Furious plan to paint the American gun industry black failed, Obama will be left to use international treaties as his method of changing laws within America. He is counting on holding on to a majority in the Senate. In fact, he is counting on controlling at least 75% of the seats in the Senate. That will be the number needed to approve all treaties which Obama signs in his second term. If he has those votes, look for him to come through the back door with treaties which contain wording that will adjust the USA gun laws as a subset of their focus.

You might remember the recent whispering episode in which Obama was caught on a live mike thinking that he was speaking in private. In this episode, we get a taste of the downstream thinking of the man. He is already focused on doing things in his second term that he cannot speak of in his first for fear of being turned out of office by the American voter. When a man has such conscious thoughts, he should not be holding the most powerful office in the world. The office of the president is a bully-pulpit for the American people. When he elects to turn that power onto the American people and use it against us, he no longer is an American or a patriot. It’s called tyranny.

In just over three years, America has suffered considerable setbacks in terms of employment, economy, energy, debt, illegal immigration, and international embarrassment. In every instance, Obama has been at the helm yet he takes not responsibility. Instead he goes about kissing hands and apologizing for an America that he perceives as ugly and selfish. We are the most giving people on the face of this earth and yet he can only see these traits from his high perch. What does that tell you about the man and his intent?

Make no mistakes; this man is a socialist in every sense of the word. His intentions in terms of the high office of the high office of President of the United States, is to continue to break down the country financially until its financial institutions and structure are ruined and we are totally at the mercy of the international community. At the same time, the door will be far more open for an America dressed in socialist characteristics where the pie will always be shared equally, at least in the explanation of how it was divided. It will be a country drawn to a utopia which Obama has been selling like snake-oil off the back of a gypsy’s wagon since he arrived on the national political scene. For some in this country, that sounds like where we should be though they never see the dangers associated with the flaws of socialism nor will they ever see them. They see only what they want to see and hear only what they want to hear. For those people, Obama is the greatest president who ever lived. For the America, that most of us know and love, he is simply a walking disaster who grows more and more dangerous with each passing day that he occupies the office of president.

We can also count on the elements of PERCEIVED DISASTER and URGENCY TO ACT to be in continual use as it has been in the first term. Unfortunately the incidents associated with those elements will only get worse but they will be the platform for which Obama demands immediate action on the part of the federal government to address issues which require change and further regulation by the government. The phrase, “Never let a good disaster go to waste”, will be alive and well in a second term for Obama. It should bother every American that Obama does not associate either term with the results of his performance while in office.

The conservative message leading up to the November elections which be strong, focused, sincere, honest, and fact-filled. It must be hammered home time and again relentlessly until the media is numb from hearing it. It must be shouted from every corner and every level of the political process so that the most people hear the message. Never in the history of this country has there been a more important election that the one which will take place in November 2012. Our future as a constitutional republic totally rides on its outcome.

@Gypsy Rose Lee...Glad to see you fired up even though you are remote from the country at present. I am sure it is much harder to get a sense of how things are here at home. In all liklihood, the GOP is going to nominate Romney with possibly a few concessions to his opponents in the name of unity. Those in high places in the GOP are of the mindset that one must be a moderate Republican to win. I don't have any use for Newt mainly because I think he is long since yesterday's news. At the same time, I think Santorum ran a clean and honest campaign keeping his focus on Obama and the issues. Obama got his wish...Romney will be the opponent. Given that, I would suggest that you ignore the nominee, look at the message and pray that it is a solid and focused one and know that everything else is secondary to relieving Obama of his official duties as president. On that basis, voting for any alternative is a good one. Thanks much. WB

I voted up and awesome cause you make a very good point about everything and we even feel the heat and smell the smoke all the way from the U.S. to here in Latvia. Remember how President Clinton came to Latvia and everyone was so excited. Who wants to meet Bahama Mama the way I turn his name around. However having the right to put in my vote here in Riga at the U.S. Embassy. Who do you suggest I pay the closest attention to????

6 years ago from Texas is a given sector of this country who wait for anyone to promise them that the government will take care of them. There is another sector who desire nothing less than the government sending us back to the dark ages in the name of environmentalism, etc. Of course, that bunch ignores all those at the top making a great living off their activism just as Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton profit from racial conflict. Then there are the liberal types who vote as democrats because mommy and daddy did...they believe anyone who claims to be a democrat is one...they would not recognize a socialist or a communist even if they had on name tags. There are some folks who cannot make up their minds but want to come off as being more intelligent in their choice. Then there are the conservatives who only desire that we sustain our freedoms under the Constitution and live within our means. As you can see, the latter group is up against a lot. I agree totally with your comments. WB

@ImKarn23...There is a part of me that feels the same way...there are times when I just want to shrug my shoulders and walk away. At the same time, we have to start moving back to our center somewhere and Obama is close to being the last minute before that period ends. Interesting...your comments on Obama and Biden...I get it. As for McCain, he got the nomination because someone thought that it was his turn and that he had earned the opportunity. Maybe he had but his personality and delivery is so poor that he would have lost even if Obama had been his running mate. I am not saying that Romney is much better but the point is that Obama has to be stopped. No one on the right side of the aisle comes close to this guy in terms of the endangerment of our future. Thanks much. WB

@cattleships...I agree with you totally. Our education system has been in the dumbdown mode since the 60's and it plays right to the communist agenda for us. Our children have been taught that we are more dangerous as a people than anyone else in the world...there is something really wrong with that thinking and I know what it is...get government, especially the federal government, out of the education process. Thanks much for the tip on the book. WB

@Wayne: the real snake oil, and the reason that "we the people" are in this mess, has been foisted upon our young for decades through public "uneducation" in our public schools. That's what scares me the most. That's why we have such a large block of free Americans who're unwittingly willing to finance and vote for their own demise... and ours along with them. If you haven't already, please look into a book called "The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America". There is a free PDF version at the book Web site. It is completely cited.

Here's my best input, Wayne: This entire election - and ALL candidates still standing? SUCK THE LARGE ONE! There, it's said! I am not disagreeing that Obama sucks - that he is nothing but a suave, manipulative megalomaniac - but - HE ALWAYS WAS! I was telling people during his first election to not, don't, look deeper - but - the 'change' was upon us, and i for one dreaded it. I will share something with you that i told people back then-and was laughed at! You can laugh to. Back in the day if you recall - people constantly called obama osama - remember? (some still do) THEN, he chose biden for VP. Well..if you take BI DEN and put a little NLA in the space - know what ya got?, the way i saw it back then was we were electing osama bin laden..sign, sign, everywhere a sign...So...was i crazy?

On the other hand - the GOP offers Romney - guaranteeing obama his second term..(see my hub Pres. O: May i be the first to congratulate you on your second term in office...sigh..)John McCain made a huge mistake choosing what's her name for his vp..

Wayne, thank you for continuing to sound the alarm, about the peril this country is in, if we don't act now to change the course of this nation! Job one is to get a small government conservative in office who believes in America and Christian values!

" It will be a country drawn to a utopia which Obama has been selling like snake-oil off the back of a gypsy’s wagon since he arrived on the national political scene. For some in this country, that sounds like where we should be though they never seen the dangers associated with the flaws of socialism nor will they ever see them. This is true discription of the Obama supporters, he seemes to have them under his hypnotic spell, as is common with demigog's who expliot the morally flawed and naive through flattery and high minded rhetoric!

@cattleships...You are correct...the election must go deeper than just the presidency. At present, the Senate is totally dysfunctional and I blame both sides of the aisle while heavily blaming Harry Reid's total disregard for the American public. There are far too many populating our government positions, socialists or not, liberal or conservative, who desire to see the current spending levels continued for it is the basis of their power and they are addicted to it....damn the American people...what a distraction! It is time to begin cleaning house and Obama will be a great start...hopefully Reid will fall quickly and maybe Pelosi will just go home for it is evident that she will never be turned away by her liberal base. I am totally with you on house cleaning...I had rather have a bunch of no-nothing honest rookies running the show than the current band of thugs. Thanks much for your comments. WB

Wayne: Great Hub as usual. Voted up. And I couldn't agree with you more; Obama and those in his administration are most definitely socialist/Marxist. But just voting Obama out of office isn't going to fix anything when we've got a socialist/Marxist majority in the Senate and a large socialist/Marxist element in the House, not to mention the highly questionable appointments to SCOTUS. On top of that, regarding the ridiculous amount of debt that has been run up since the early 1900's, is Keynesian economics (socialist/European economics: read central banking/entitlements), which Congress and the Executive Branch subscribe to; and the American people now take for granted. Keynesian economics is the antithesis of free market economics and Our Founders outlawed it (from experience).

My point is that the whole political dog and pony show that government is today, not just Obama, needs to be thrown out. And that will take a large amount of "the will of the people"... which means a "real education" of the people.

I can't imagine John McCain and Sarah Palin being in charge over the course of the last four years...ever thought of that? And the very idea of Romney, Santorum and Gingrich being in charge makes the very earth shake in fear.

After the elimination of America's wealth accrued during Clinton's run in office--one trillion in the black--President Bush managed in a short eight years to spend more than any president in history on wars and governmental programs for the rich and corporate entities of America--Numbers range in the four to five trillion range.

For me, it was hard to imagine anyone wanting to clean up the mess of American debt left by the Bush/Chainey administration...and yet it happened...someone had to take the challenge on.

After the two-front "revenge" wars upon Iraq and Afghanistan, American families have lost more sons and daughters, limbs and lives, since the Viet Nam era...could there have been a better tactical way to kill Osama Bin Laden? A man Bush didn't catch because of the familial connection with regards to the "oil in the family" histories of Bushs and Bin Ladens. Look it up!! It was "all in the families'" Middle East oil interests for decades.

Gun Control is a lost possibility in America...can't be it's really a dead issue. Too many guns to count, let alone control. It is simply a part of American culture to "bear arms", so why anyone would broach the topic is foolishness.

The healthcare issue wasn't a wise move for this time of financial crisis and war, but it is an issue that every modern country that cares for its patriots and citizens should address at some point, but with input and support from all sides.

The real travesty is in the money spent over the course of two years of campaigning for the most powerful position on earth. Isn't there a better way of saving costs in advertising and campaigning for office in a shorter period of time? I'm sick of watching the Republican candidates whine and moan about their opponents--it's unappealing and uncivilized--these people are supposed to be on the same side.

If anything they've offered their throats up to President Obama with the last 18 months of "debate" and mudslinging.

In conclusion, there is going to have to be some return to dialogue in America, Liberal or Conservative, are going to have to learn to talk to each other and come to some sort of plan of action no matter who wins--success, however, seems a very difficult result to attain.

Americans need to be motivated by goals that unite their states...Apollo programs, American Idols, etc...there has to be some ground that is common for conservative and liberal. Whoever takes the reins of leadership is going to have to attempt to find that common ground which isn't covered in snake oil, y'all.

@The Frog Prince....Thanks much Frogman, I wish a community organizer were all that he was. In the end, he is totally cut from the fabric of socialism and marxism, a fact that is evident in his actions, desires, and his surroundings. Why would it not also be his agenda. He went from the Great Uniter to the Great Divider in less time than I thought he would. He has no record now to run on to speak of. He had people's hopes up but empty rhetoric is always just that.

It is unfortunate that he sold so many people on two empty words - hope and change. But he never bothered to define any of that. He is a classic Community Organizer which is a nice word for a rabble rouser.

The other thing I mention quite often is that he suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder which the last time I checked is still classified as a mental diesease.

Just my two cents added to your excellent analysis.

@rowley141...Romney certainly was not my first choice but I am suggesting that anything that will bring a conservative element back to government and return us to a constitutional focus is far better than the current disaster. Good and bad presidents come and go and Romney cerainly may not be one who will rank among the greatest. That said, I think you are looking at the worst in office today and America cannot stand much more of it. As conservatives, we have compromise a bit on the candidate but that should not deter our philosphy, goals, or our desire for a return to constitutional government in this country. That is my point. Wayne, I completely agree with you about the nature of Obama's first term and about the strategies that he will employ in order to become re-elected. We do not need Obama in office for a second term, for this country does not need more regulation but quite the opposite, deregulation. If we are intended to be the "Land of the Free" then why is it that our freedoms are slowly taken from us. However, are you suggesting that a big business tycoon like Mitt Romney is what is right for this country?
