AN EVENING OF POETRY AT THE WHITE HOUSE

Updated on May 11, 2011

TALENT SHOW AT THE WHITE HOUSE

Them dick boys got a lock of cock in them,

My people on the block got a lot of [Tu]pac in them…

Burn a Bush cos’ for peace.”

ALLRIGHT! Way to go!

These carefully crafted words are from Common, a rapper that will attend a poetry reading at the White House this week with the first lady and Obama. This summarizes Common’s attitude toward President Bush, with these carefully selected words, “Burn a Bush.

But wait there is more. There are other deeply felt social issues that Common raps about like the following:

“I don’t know what it is / but white girls gettin’ ass

I know what it is / It’s cash.”

How better could you articulate your opposition to mixed couples than, “white girls getting’ ass?”

Common may have a lot more going for him other than beautifully crafted poetry, he is in very thick with Jeremiah Wright, you know the presidents pastor where the Obama’s attended church for twenty years, and where the little girls were baptized. Common performed at Wright’s 2008 New Year celebration and again he tackled weighty social issues as he called for the release from jail of cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, a Black Panther member.

AND, he waxed eloquent on his presidential choice when he sang,

. “I’m gonna let you know / No people want drama /

We gonna vote for my man / What’s his name? Obama

Revolution is here”

I just wondering, since he has called for the burning of President Bush, will the FBI pick him up in the middle of the poetry evening?

The cultural giants in Hollywood have recognized common’s great talent. He is due to appear in movies with Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman , Forest Whitaker and Keanu Reeves.

Common’s real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, born in Chicago, his talent has propelled him to great heights.

I hope he performs himself right into prison. Disgusting and inexcusable, but hey I am not surprised.

      Inexcusable.

Can you imagine the (well deserved) media uproar if Newt Gingrich was president and invited a 'poet' to the White House who talked about killing Obama or some cops?

What is with our President and his Taste in MUSIC? Excuse me, I mean Poetry and Poets? I feel ashamed for our Country and what we are coming to. As usual Mslizzee a good and timely Hub!

Seems like we've hit a new low at the White House. What ever you think of Bush and his presidency, the man and his wife had class.

I am Proud to say that I voted TWICE for Bush and would do so again in a heartbeat. On the other hand, I did not vote for Obama and certainly would not vote for him in 2012. Once again, thanks Mslizzee for a great HUb!

Wow, what a fun evening sitting around with Barry, Michelle and their two lovely daughters trying to guess how many ways Common can rhyme the "F-Word" or the "N-Word" to the staccato beat of some idiot doing beatbox in the background. We're talkin' art here ladies and gentlemen.

"Ya'll set yaselves down and listen to the man

Obama takin' dumps in the de White House can

Uncle Jeremiah slippin through the old rose garden

Workin' on Barry, tryin' to get Abu-Jamal a pardon"

Now we twist words tryin' to run down da Bush

Cause Barry done got his own agenda to push

Revolution in the Crib ya'll, rappers takin' power

Common got his game on, this is our finest hour!

Come on, Come on....I said come on!

      Thank ya, mslizzee! WB

      Wayne you are fantastic.

What a classy evening it must have been. I get so irritated when they refer to him as an "artist". He's a ghetto tramp with a filthy mouth.

      b. I voted for Bush 2 X also. I think he is a fine man and brought dignity and class to the White House.

Not only is he Common, but his words are low class. Why

would anyone want to listen to him, is beyond anything in reason. I am surprised that any President would want this person talking in front of his wife with his language. Yes, George Bush and his Laura are very classy.

      I liked them both.

      Good work, mslizze,

      Have a Great Week.
