Al-Qaeda's Biggest Mistake on 9/11 Was Letting the World Know Islamism's True Nature
The Islamic World Celebrated 9/11 as a Victory. Shouldn't Have This Been a Warning?
For the United States 9/11 was a small moment of fear and uncertainty. For the entire day people looked up at the sky and wondered if more planes were going to fall from the troposphere. It's hard to believe that those events united us with our many backgrounds. As the days passed, more flags were displayed outside homes and neighbors were more willing to say hello to each other. European nations mourned with us and almost immediately offered assistance. The German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder declared the 9/11 attacks as declaration of war against the civilized world.
Meanwhile in other parts of the world such as Egypt, Beirut , Saudi Arabia and in claimed Palestinian territories people celebrated. Most world leaders condemned the attack, but that is what is expected to sustain good diplomacy. But the number of people who openly praised Al-Qaeda may only foreshadow the amount of people who've kept quiet about their support. Its no secret that many moderates held disdain for western influences in the Middle East prior to the wars. The Middle East is considered to be Holy Land that shouldn't have infidel influences in the region even if it is just for business.
But no matter how you slice it, if you support the wars or not, those attacks shed light on Al-Qaeda and subsequently on Islam itself. Granted, the point of the attack was to gain attention and to push the religion as the dominant faith. But they didn't expect the true nature of Islamism itself to be revealed in the manner that it has. Groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS are the true adherents to Islam while the moderates themselves are more "cafeteria Muslims"( That's why ISIS slaughters so many Muslims because they aren't true to the Quran) But despite that the majority of Muslims don't openly support radical Islam, too many do. Of the 1.5 billion Muslims in the world a very small percentage actually support radical Islam. But that small amount still equals to around 65 million and even more support Sharia law depending on the location. And as a relative to Sharia, more support Hijra (Immigration Jihad) as a means to populate and control other nations from within non-violently. Which of course, is still a threat to freedom and secularist societies.
In 2016 the Islamic Hijra is alive and well through lackadaisical immigration policies in the west. Sexual assault and violent crime has sky rocketed throughout industrialized nations in Europe. The Mayor of London is a Muslim and has already implemented laws that go against free speech. And nationalist movements are starting to gain traction within those nations in response to Islamic aggression and government inaction.
The nature of Islamism is about dominance. It can be done violently with terrorists groups who follow Muhammad, who himself was a conqueror. And its effectively being done non-violently through immigration. More terror attacks will happen which will take the lives of Americans, Europeans and even more Muslims begin to populate the west to settle in the homes that were occupied by westerners.
Moammar Gaddafi said it himself: " We don't need terrorists, we don't need homicide bombers. The 50 plus million Muslims in Europe will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades."
Defeating Islamic terrorism will take more than bombs and troops on the ground every so often. Islamism itself needs to be attacked much like Communism and Fascism has in past decades. If true peaceful Muslims want to change their doctrines to ones that can participate in social melting pots like in the US without Sharia, it will be their chance to do so with our protection against Islamic backlash. But they must also lead that fight against Islamism, and that fight will need to be aggressive if they want to change the face of Islam. If this can be done, western civilization itself can be saved and perhaps even the Middle East might finally find peace.
The words of the former German Chancellor should still be heeded to this day. 9/11 was a wake up call. But we can't wake up if we keep hitting the snooze button and not fight against Islamism. Because when we do decide to wake up, it will be in the morning to say our first Islamic call to prayer. (Fajir)
