American People are reflected in our shutdown. Your Congress and Administration act like you.

Updated on October 13, 2013

Government is not a building, it is the citizenry in action.

Our congress looks just like our citizens. Our Administration looks just like our "head of households".

America the indulgers. We are spoiled brats. And in dire need of a diet.

America's Congress and Administration are acting just like the people who elected them. The "slimdown" is the correct term. We are too fat and need to diet and exercise. And it does not start in Washington DC. And it will not end there. It is an inside job of the American mindset. We are fat and lazy and arrogant. Our belief in our entitlements has reached an all time high.

I do not speak of the lowest level wrung on the latter of poverty and welfare. They shall always be there and are not increasing that exponentially. And I am not only speaking of the entitlement of government hand outs and help. I also speak of those who believe that they are entitled to jobs and entitled to a healthy economy in order that they can make money.

When a person is sick, we do things to help them get better. Our economy is sick and our social fabric is weakened. So what have we done. We repeatedly go to the emergency room. We refuse to accept the responsibility of consuming more healthy and exercising. Our economy is sick. Are we getting up off our fat arses and doing for ourselves that which we want our government to do?? No we are not.

You are helping how??

Time to honor America and Play Ball!!

Take the happy American Couples

An overweight wife and an overweight husband are sitting on the couch eating their fat filled food and and the wife looks at the husband and says "honey you really need to exercise, think of the example you set for our little fat son". The husband replies "it is your fault for not cooking healthier". And then suggests that she join a gym. And the TV plays dancing with the stars. And they go to bed mad at each other and Jimmy just keeps eating and playing is video games.

Same couple are watching the tube while looking at their credit card and mortgage bills and suggest to each other that they get another job to pay the bills. Jimmy comes in and asks them not to argue. And that he needs new shoes just like his friends. And they all argue and go to bed mad at each other.

Notice there is no "head of household". There is not contribution from the child. There are no solutions put forth that involve the speaker changing. And there is pointing of fingers and blame.

Of course if we stuck with our household the blame would be directed outside the house and inside the house, drinking would occur to calm the nerves and escape from the problem. Will Jimmy get his new shoes? You bet if there is any room on one of the credit cards he will. And one of the parents will make sure they get the credit from the boy who is learning not to exercise and how to get fat.

What legacy we leave. To hell with social security as a program. Real security comes from good health

Our soul is in your hands.

America our very existence is not in your hands. That does not mean America the Government. It means America you people. Our leaders are elected. We elect them. They reflect us. Get a long tall drink of water and look long and hard in that mirror because what you are seeing in DC is a reflection of you and you and you.

Face up to it people. You are blaming others or other things for your problems. You are not stepping up and making a change. You are not cutting back on entertainment and fast foods and consumption of imports and you are not saving money. By percentages you are fat. You are not exercising enough. You are not reading to your children and you are not volunteering time and money.

And here is a big kicker. You are not standing up for yourself. We know as fact now that fully three quarters of all foreclosures in the past 5 years were wrongful. Look at the facts there. Agency after agency, penalty after penalty. Admission after admission proves this is/was so. But what did Americans do about it? They complained and that got our Gov. to look. But then they just got evicted and moved on. Fully knowing that the mortgage was faulty --- only 1% of the American people fought or are fighting. That is disgusting. We just took the easy route and blamed people but did and are doing nothing to stop it. Same with crime. Same with homeless. Same with insurance. Same with wars.

A great song once bellowed; "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose". Well I think we just might get the final privilege to test that proclamation.

United States of America

As is this authors' want let me give some observation and conclusions

I see great promise. I see great opportunities. I see great new beginnings. And I see great hope for our future. But heretofore I seem them not being taken. But I believe in America and it's people. I believe in you. I think we shall move forward and people will begin to accept personal responsibility as they see putting their trust in others is only as good as the trust we put in ourselves.

This new dawn and waking of America will have us asking who we are, both individual and as a nation. This is good because we are good. We have just fallen but we are not knocked out and the fight is still in us.

(a note: America is used herein. The map includes Mexico and Canada. The term basically should also. But we are sovereigns yet tied as neighbors and we need to start acting more like it)

We shall weather this storm to and remain strong.

I do not mind so much someone who needs help --- but I do mind if they do not participate. We write so we are good to go!!

Well said. I agree, some people tend to believe they are "entitled" to everything rather than working hard and making your own way. I don't want to rely on anyone for my livelihood. Thank you.

thank you much for dropping by and reading. This was written to provoke thought. Probably by next month I will disagree with some parts.

You have an interesting perspective. I agree on some parts and not on others.

It is interesting that we claim victory when public opinion sways in a better direction, but no accountability to us if it sways poorly.

Mark it is always a pleasure to have you come on over and share some time. Thank you.

As you said "America the indulgers. We are spoiled brats. And in dire need of a diet."

I have written on this issue is a few different ways, and agree with you fully. Society and the individual, need to accept responsibility for their actions and insist that the "leaders" follow. (Interesting concept isn't it), leaders following :)
