An Act Of Terrorism (How I Feel About The BP Oil Spill)

Updated on June 25, 2010

Wikipedia describes Terrorism as the systematic use or threatened use of violence to intimidate a population or government and therefore effect political, religious, or ideological change.

My definition of Terrorism is any act that causes mass destruction, many deaths and the collapse of the economic structure. Although, there where only 11 deaths on Deep Sea Horizon many see it as an small amount....tell that to those devastated families. Tell that to those poor survivors whom are effected by witnessing the deaths of their fellow co-workers/friends. One described the experience as looking at the face of death . British Petroleum knew what was going on, knew the consequences, and ignored it as if it was something minor. They systematically covered it up. BP ordered shortcuts on the day of the blast! According to employees they routinely cut corners regardless of safety issues. BP's conduct was why isn't anyone in jail? As far as I am concerned due to their actions they cost 11 lives and due to their failure to repair a very dangerous should be considered Murder. Not only murder for those 11 victims; but to the countless wildife and the other people that will die trying to clean up their mess due to the toxins from the disaster. Since they willingly ignored the problem....this was an act of terrorism. They knew they where risking lives! Before the blast British Petroleum was the third largest energy company and the fourth largest company in the world. Although oil drilling can run into the cost of one million dollars per day, to BP....this was nothing for one of the largest oil companies in the world. I don't care that since the explosion April 20, 2010, their public standing and stock value has dropped and now they are only valued at half their market capitalization. This disaster has crippled us in Louisiana. The leaking oil has devastated a vast area of the United States marine environment, killed a large number of marine life and has a serious impact on the local fishing industry.

In Louisiana we pride our fishing industry....we are considered the Sportsman's Paradise. It's our way of life. We had not completely bounced back from the devastation called "Katrina", when the blast occurred. What about those families whom cannot afford food and fish to feed their families?

. Our crawfish season has been whack since Katrina and now it looks very bleak if any due to the poisoning of our waters. Is this their version of the "Boston Tea Party"?!! Sports and crawfish is the culture of Louisiana. Thanks BP....for the mess you have made. As far as I am concerned after the trillions of dollars of should go bankrupt. As a matter of should not be able to operate under any entity...since you do not care about the lives of others. God Bless Louisiana.

God Bless Those Families......
