Anchors Away Comrades

A Fitting Tribute? To Who? The Russian Fleet...

Capture this image on the last night of the Democratic National Convention. They are going to say thank you to our veterans. Being a veteran myself I can appreciate the gesture. Now bear in mind that the Democrats wanted to showcase the fact this nation's veterans are in their camp. Not many are but they were able to conjure up a retired admiral by the name of John Natham to lead the charge.

It was truly impressive with the admiral himself surrounded on the stage by about a dozen veterans of the Iraq and Afghanastan conflicts. It was truly an impressive display and there was a picture of the fleet displayed on the screen behind the assembled proud veterans who had defended this nation and the liberties we all enjoy. But there was just one minor problem with the image that was being projected on the screen behind these patriots. Take a look:

Whoops! Wrong Fleet!!!

It was truly an impressive a display of the naval might of the Russian fleet as you might ever see. Those are not US Navy ships. Those images were of the Russian fleet on maneuvers in the Black Sea. The Navy Times reported that not only are the ships quite obviously outfitted with Russian radar but they were also flying the Russian flag. I'm wondering if this faux paux is part of Obama's promise to Putin that after his reelection he will "have more flexibility."

The other interesting part of the whole scene was that it showed the ships being overflown by what, in all appearances, are U.S. trainer jets. How did that happen? It didn't because it was a composite. It did look patriotic though didn't it? It made all the comrades in the homeland proud to be - a Russian!

The head scratcher is both how and why the Democratic Party put such a farce together and then showed it at their convention led by a retired US Navy Admiral who didn't catch it either. When a spokesperson for the Democratic National Convention Committee was asked for a comment they ran for cover and remained mute other than to tell the reporter he had to find out what happened.

Well Comrade Democrats you pulled off a less than fitting tribute to the warriors who guard your rights and liberties. You know those freedoms that Obama has been chipping away at for the past 4 years? Comrade Putin is sure to be sitting back and smiling just waiting for that flexibility that Obama promised him. Actually maybe licking his chops.

As Always,

The Frog Prince
