Another newspaper reader's thoughts about Global Warming?

Updated on January 8, 2011

Global Warming - causes

Whether global warming is a result of greenhouse effects or just part of a natural weather cycle is a valid argument.  To deny it is happening in the face of all the obvious evidence is absurd.  Icebergs are melting.  For the first time in a couple of hundred years, the Northwest Passage will be open. Temperature records show that, worldwide, the last 10 years have been the warmest decade yet recorded.  Rivers are drying up and droughts are happening, and have been happening all over the world.  The oceans are warming, causing hurricanes, flooding and more.

A majority of scientists worldwide agree it is occurring.  That is why 172 nations have gathered at Kyoto and Copenhagen.  Predictions of results of global warming in the future are disastrous.  Coastal cities could be wiped out.

So, whether man has caused the problem or simply  exacerbated it, man still needs to take steps to counter it.  To malign Al Gore for continuing to bring it to our attention is right wing drivel - because, apparently, nothing a democrat says could possibly be valid.
