Are you happy yet?

Updated on February 14, 2015

Easy dressing.

What makes us happy?

Every morning when I put on one of my cowboy shirts, I love how easy it is to snap the buttons together instead of trying to find the button hole to put the button in.

worrying is stewing without doing...

A little thing? Yes. It’s the little things in life that make us happy. If you get a kick out of the little things. Like snapping your shirt on; or slipping into your casual shoes instead of having to worry about tying them; or zapping your breakfast burrito in the microwave instead of having to cook; or opening a refrigerator and finding a nice cold drink, then you can be happy.

On the other hand if you don’t pay attention to the little things and are constantly worrying or thinking about something other than what you are doing, you could miss some wonderful moments in life.

It has been said live a life that will make you smile, when you look back on it. Can you smile at the little things?

Capulet in Romeo and Juliet

Movie anyone?

Some of the other little things I get a kick out of are

  1. Making my children and grandchildren smile by singing a song or telling them a story.
  2. Making people laugh.
  3. Watching the mother grebes in the lake tend her babies.
  4. Fishing
  5. Camping
  6. Hiking

How about you? What do you like to do? I haven’t learned to like watching movies. Whenever I visit one of my sons he wants to share a movie with me that he thinks is wonderful. Then he plays it with the sound too low for me to hear and since he has heard it, he does other things with his children while I’m supposed to be watching the movie. Does that ever happen to you?

If you enjoy watching movies all the more power to you. If you enjoy doing nothing then you are not doing nothing. You are enjoying.

Get excited..

When I was young I thought if I had a nice car and a nice house and all the things I wanted I would be happy. Turns out they didn’t make me happy. What makes me happy is enjoying the little things. Getting excited about little things like the taste of the meal you are eating; watching the rain and storms and weather out the window of your dry warm house; the feel of the cashmere sweater your wearing; the warmth of the hot tub on your body.

Yes the little things are important in life.
