America Decided! It is President Barack Obama!

Yes! Yes! Yes! The Democrats have won this time. John McCain was really gracrious with his words during his concession speech. He quietened the crowd when then booed at the mention of Obama's name and victory. That is the mark of a good leader. It is support all the way for the President-Elect Barack Obama. America cannot stand divided... Leaders need to stand UNITED to pursue the welfare of the country. George Bush even extended an invitation to the Obama family to visit the White House for some orientation (this is one helpful gesture).

After election on 5 November 2008, in his victory speech at Grant Park in Chicago before 240,000 supporters, Barack Obama said, "Even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime -- two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century,...but America -- I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you -- we as a people will get there."

Historic Win for Barack Obama - For The Record

The 44th President of the United States of America. The first African-American President to ascend to the White House.

With a record of 64.1% of Voters Turnout, the following are the results. Electoral Vote: Obama (349) / McCain (174). Popular Vote: Obama (64 million) / McCain (56.5 million). Senate: Obama (56) / McCain (40). House of Representatives: Obama (254) / McCain (173).

The Morning After for US President-Elect

In the News....."U.S. President-elect Barack Obama will get his first high-level security briefing Thursday, with officials already warning he will have little time to savor his victory due to the economic downturn and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan." It is back to serious work. It is back to reality. The stock market plunged throughout the world. The whole world is aware that there are many issues that will not be rectified within a day. It is going to be a long road to recovery. The country needs his attention. The world is waiting for him to meet leaders to work on issues that are very challenging.

Domestic and Global Issues

On top of the Americans' minds are issues related to the economy, war in Iraq, health care and terrorism. For the immediate future, Obama's agenda will be to address these concerns of his country men and women, and getting the country's economy back on its foot. Being leader of the world's super power, he will be involved looking into issues of mending border disputes, security issues, environment issues, global trade issues. He will need a good team of advisors to help him in all these areas.

The Lighter Side - Barack Obama

Presidential Campaign Support - The Lighter Side

With Barack Obama's popularity there are things which are hard to be ignored. The following are the lighter side and interesting to take note.

Indonesia - In a little town where he had 4 years of elementary school when he accompanied his mother (anthropologist). People remembered him. His friends from his elementary class came together to show their support. The elementary school had the students watch news of the result on TV.

Japan - In the small city of OBAMA (small shore) is a group of Japanese who have prepared a Hawaiian dance to commemorate his victory. T-shirts and souvenirs with his caricature were created and placed on sale.

Kenya - that is the birth country of his father. They were rooted to their seats in front of the TV to follow the result of the election. They celebrated when there was victory. President Mwai Kibaki declared Thursday a national holiday for the country when the result confirmed Barack Obama is the President-Elect. Some baby boys borned that day were named Barack Obama and girls named Michelle.

Then there is this OBAMA GIRL on youtube.... Watch the video below.

Everyone Doing Our Part For Our World

In fact we all know that Barack Obama cannot do it alone, to handle both domestic and global issues. He will be sworned in as President and will be in the White House on 20 January 2009. But.... Obama is still human. He is no GOD or a superior being (He has to depend on GOD for great wisdom). America has her problems, Asia has her problems, Europe has her problems, etc..... He has to rally for help to make America a better place for his country men and women.... He can rally the World Leaders together to make the world a better place for all of us. He also really needs you and I, ordinary citizens whether in the US or other countries to do our part, to assist our own leaders, and the leaders will do their part to at their best abilities make this world a better place for you and me..... "Heal the World - Make it a Better Place" by Michael Jackson.
