Birther Bills! Baptismal Or Circumcision Certificates Required! States Have Gone Mad!

Updated on April 20, 2011

Co-opted By Obama and His Minions?

Birthers Will Continue To Harass Citizens!

When will the birther movement be buried? They have kept hammering and hammering, and now state legislatures throughout the country have climbed aboard the birther crazy train. Kansas, Arizona, other GOP dominated legislatures throughout the country are piling on to redefine just who is qualified to vote or run for office in the US. Even Jan Brewer, the notorious mother of the Papers Please Law, has vetoed legislation that was presented to her in Arizona. Dubbed 'The Circumcision Papers Law', the legislation would require a birth certificate, baptismal certificate or proof of circumcision in order to register to vote or run for office. Is there even such a thing as a 'Cirucmcision Certificate'? Apparently, I don't get out much, because I never knew!

I have a son and he was circumcized, but does he carry a circumcision certificate in his wallet? No, he does not. Short of allowing physical examination by the new voting police, he may decide (hopefully), to stay away from Kansas and Arizona. If these states and many more are going to require this type of documentation in order to vote, what will they require to run for office? Oh! That's right. Many of the same states that are passing birther voting legislation are attempting to interfere with the federal regulations that already cover the requirements of those who run for federal office!

Orly Taitz Is Rational?

How Does The Birther Movement Justify Their Paranoia?

The birthers, as a movement (think of another movement that begins with the letter 'B'), do not justify the need for this distraction. In times when states should be busy addressing serious issues, this movement would rather waste its time thinking up ways to harass citizens. Their intent is clear. Make it so difficult to register to vote, that undesireables will forego the entire process. Undesireables include many poor, elderly and even disabled. No more registration drives. That suits the birthers just fine. The more difficult it becomes to vote, the better it is.

Of course, only those who are qualified to vote should vote, and the research bears out that there IS NO conspiracy of voting fraud being perpetrated on America by individual people. Research? Facts? Those things do not matter to those who bear the brand of 'Birther'! Truth is relative and research is for fools. Talk until you are blue in the face. It doesn't matter! The truth is not accepted by this fringe element, and never will be.

The only evidence of voting fraud that does exist points to the manipulation of electronic voting machines that are being utilized in this country. But again, the 'birthers' don't deal with the real issues. They prefer living in a world of 'Obama' conspiracy, because they believe that their "country has been stolen by a black man who was born in Kenya". He is not one of us is the chorus that has been repeated since before the legitimate election of this President by legitimate voters.

Led by the newest odd couple of Orly Taitz and Donald Trump, the birthers believe the conspiracy is vast. They must save the country from itself. Instead of circumcision certificates, perhaps 'competency certificates' should be required before voting. It is doubtful to me that many of the birthers would pass a competency test.

Enough! Barack Hussein Obama Was Legally Elected!

People in the US elected our current President. Like it or not, he is your legally elected President, and the insanity must stop! Am I suggesting that the birthers are the fringe? No. I am drawing a line in the sand and I am saying that the proof is in. Birthers ARE the fringe. Their incessant whining needs to stop. Even Jan Brewer agrees!

As difficult as it may be to accept, we have a black President with a funny sounding name. That does not mean he is from another country. That doesn't mean he is not one of us. He is not a terrorist. He is not a Muslim (would not matter if he was). He is not turning America into a socialist, communist, fascist government. He is not the cause of every problem this country is faced with. Get a grip!

Before you comment, may I remind you. I am aware that you may think I am unkind. I am aware that you may think I am being disrepectful of the opinions held by the wingnuts. I am aware of all of that. I don't care. Just as 'birthers' have the right to be stupid, as guaranteed by the first amendment, I have the right to say that I think birthers need to start thinking rationally, if that is possible. Stop embarrassing yourselves by your outrageous behavior that has no basis in fact...You are the counter culture. You are far from the mainstream and the facts have proven you wrong. Finally, seriously consider being evaluated by a mental health professional. Show me your competency papers, please!

    Dear Amillar,

Obama was born in Hawaii. For some reason, these people think he was born in Kenya, therefore he would not qualify to be President. Each state has its own birth certificate form, and Hawaii's is called a 'certificate of live birth'. It has been proven, over and over again, that the birth certificate, even though different looking from many other states, is legitimate. If we bought into what these people think, no one from Hawaii would be able to be President.

Think it is more that Obama is black (still alot of prejudice here), his father was Muslim (many people here believe Muslims are evil), his father was from Kenya, even though his mom was from the state of Kansas-and then his name...He would be more accepted if his name were John or Mark, but not Barack. These people are obsessed! I am proud that Obama is our President. He is a good man.

I am embarrassed by these people. They seem to take pride in their ignorance. They make us all look like fools!

I had to Google 'birthers' Jillian. I was following the gist, but I couldn't believe that such fuss was going on about where your President was born. We all have to be born somewhere (even if it's only America).

Anyway, it's good to keep up with what’s happening in your part of the World. Keep up the good work.

    Dear Peter,

Thank you for your comment! If people don't speak for right, than we are shirking our duty. Must be a holdover from the times we grew up in! I keep thinking about your Corvette and the Mustang I so loved! And everything that went with them! Wild, yes! But devotion to principle, even more so! Take care, Peter!

Jillian, you've done it again, hit the nail on the head. of course I would like to hit something(one) else on the head but that is beside the point. Good point and you say what a lot of people think and you give them a voice in this conversation. Bravo! your friend Peter

    Dear HSchneider,

Clearly, they are unconstitutional, but I thought Citizens United would never fly either. The nuttier they get, the more you would think their popularity would diminish. I guess I am just losing faith in the intelligence of average Americans...

    Dear Nan,

    Thank you!

    Dear Terry,

Your comment stands on its own merit. You have said nothing that I disagree with, as usual! Thank you, my friend!

I have lived long enough to accept that we do march backward. I used to believe we went steadily forward. In the 60s issues such as Evolution, Women's right to choose, collective bargaining right, Social Security, etc were settled. We were proud of them. But we not only face these same decisions again, we have new absolutely stupid bigots that cannot stand that a Black Man is our head of government and want to whine over Obama's citizenship. They want to blame him for the downfall of America since that wonderful "REAGAN" and supply side economics. I am sick of the ignorant spouting creationism, sick of the same ones crying pro life but not wanting to provide any child services, sick of union bashing while ass kissing the richest, and SICK of Birthers who are nothing more than the KKK of the 22nd century. Donald Trump is their appropriate leader, a stupid white guy who only needs a pointy white mask to finish out his garb.

Let them keep hammering away Jillian. It simply makes the Republican party look crazy. Hopefully it drives them to nominate similarly crazy candidates for 2012. The thing that worries me are these bills being passed in states putting restrictions on voter registration. These birther bills should quickly move up to the Sureme Court. They are clearly unconstitutional.

    Dear Fay,

Thank you. Just so tired of it all. Snyder is a nightmare, isn't he? I am serious when I suggest competency papers! These guys need to give me just one day free of the ridiculous. Think it can happen?

Maybe they will rest on Easter! Be well!

Excellent hub as always, Jillian. No one is better at pointing out the inane activities of the Republicans. The extent to which they will go to win is ridiculous. It's Black Codes and State's Rights revisited...for Democrats!

In Michigan, the Governor has actually nullified the vote. If the ballot can simply be legislated away, we are no better than a third world country.
